I noticed crappy service from T-mobile recently so jumped on this deal last week and what a nightmare it has been...

Simple "follow online instructions to port 2 numbers from t-mobile" didn't go through after 48 hours so had to call customer service multiple times

1st time: spent about an hour with CS #1 checking all credentials again (phone numbers, PIN, provider, etc.) then was assured everything was corrected without issue and service should be active in 15-20 mins which did not happen

2nd time: spent another 90 mins with CS #2 who did activate the service within 10 mins after call but my numbers did not get ported over

3rd time: spent another 90 mins with CS #3 who helped resolve this and finally managed to port the numbers over properly BUT found out CS #2 messed things up and it wasn't "free 1 year" anymore... CS #3 submitted report to management and asked to wait 24-72 hours for it to get resolved

4th time: random CS calls today (after 36 hours from 3rd call mentioned above) to congratulate activation and ask how the service is... I mention about the above issue, then get forwarded to "issue escalation team"... spent about an hour explaining all over again and waiting... am told a formal report has been submitted to the management team and they will be calling me in 24-72 hours...

Out of curiosity, I just checked my online account info... at the moment, they placed me on a 2 year contract for 2 lines unlimited at $90... wtf, I would not recommend this to anybody and hope it gets resolved soon

I signed up online. I got a call now from 18882114727, trying to setup account for free 1 year sprint service. They had my address and name. I gave my Apt number. But when the foreign rep asked for full SSN, i got alarmed. I did not give that up. After 15 minutes of explaining, the call was cut abruptly. Is that the right number for sprint? Why do they ask for full SSN? If its scam, how do they know that i've enrolled for one year free sprint service?

Yes, that IS Sprint's CS #. They DO have a right to ask for your SS# for credit verification. You DO have the right not to give it to them, and not to avail yourself of their services.

I already provided SSN during online application and credit verification was done already. Why would they need full SSN again?

You cannot. It (and the free international calling to Canada and Mexico that go with it) is explicitly excluded by name in the small print for the free plan on the web site.

Quote :
May not be combinable with other offers, including but not limited to AAA, AA, Credit Union, Premium International Experience,

Sel. non-premium int'l. svc. incl. See sprint.com/globalroaming.
Note only NON-PREMIUM International service is available.

I tried checking the box on the dashboard to select it. It appears to take, but then drops off the next day. I opened a ticket and had several chats with representatives and it is simply not part of the free plan. 4G international roaming is also excluded. These would be very expensive to offer free and there is no way they are going to do so.

Other people have previously posted the same thing.

Thanks for the OP for this thread. My wife and I just signed up.

One question I still have is: we currently have iPhone 6 Plusses. if we buy couple used iPhone 7s can we switch to it in a couple of weeks?. I know you need to wait 120 days for upgrade but we are not upgrading. We are buying used phones and switching phones.

I agree that it is not possible to be sure if it was or was not a legit. call.
So call the Sprint number for this offer listed in the wiki for this offer and resolve any outstanding issues with them.
That way you can be sure you are talking to the real Sprint (when you initiate the call).
There could always be a typo in the SSN or whatever.

For all those who have had trouble ordering ONLINE:

It is BEST to call the Sprint toll free # and place this order and NOT to do this online.
Follow the steps the rep takes one by one and be alert to any errors by the rep.
CLARIFY and RESOLVE immediately any misunderstandings.

During the ordering process you should be transferred to another Sprint rep who'll do the CREDIT CHECK and ask for your SS #. After the credit check you'll be told how many lines you're entitled to, depending on your credit worthiness, UP TO 5 lines.
Then you'll be transferred back to the original rep to continue the order, port your #, etc.

Make sure ALL steps are done correctly, such as your enrollment in Auto-Pay so that you'll get the $5.00 monthly credit, etc.

Do your HOMEWORK BEFORE you call to place your order so that you may catch any rep errors. Read the WIKI here!!! A couple of times!!!

You MUST have the phone in front of you when you call along, if possible, with the CORRECT SIM for your specific phone, read the WIKI.
OR you'll place the order with the rep for the SIM to be shipped to you and get charged the $10 shipping fee.
IF the SIM card is shipped to you it MUST BE ACTIVATED after you get it either online or by calling the ORIGINAL Sprint tel # you used when you placed your order.
Porting your tel # to your new Sprint account should take only several minutes. If NOT, call the Sprint porting dept tel # listed in the WIKI and in this thread. The # I used is 888-211-4727 and it is different than the WIKI #. It is the number I was asked to call direct to the Sprint porting dept and the port was done immediately.

The Sprint customer care tel # is 1-800-SPRINT1 OR 1-800-777-4861. They are very helpful in resolving issues, especially billing issues.

Finally, if you have a question about something it is BEST to do a search of this thread for what you're looking for, PORT for instance or MOTO E4, etc. Chances are the answer is within this thread IF you search SMARTLY with the appropriate search term and you'll save a LOT of time.

Good luck to all who are able to get this GREAT DEAL for the next 15 months!!!

There are so many warnings like this one,

Quote :
WARNING - DO NOT TRY TO DO THIS DEAL IN-STORE!!!
(ORDER ONLINE OR ACTIVATE OVER THE PHONE @ 866-782-8777)
Yet I am being told I cannot set up my account over the internet or telephone. I have to go to a Sprint store and let them do it. So I'm increasingly skeptical they're going to set up this deal correctly.

The eligibility web page confirmed my phone and number are eligible. Next they took all my personal info (name, physical address, email address, social security number, credit card info) and billed me to ship my SIM card out. At this time they did a credit check, said I was eligible for up to 5 lines, and gave me a PIN. But this doesn't create a Sprint account, the PIN apparently doesn't do anything at all from the support I've talked to.

I received my SIM card. Went to activate it online, but I need a Sprint account to activate it online and I can't get a Sprint account without a Sprint phone number which I don't have yet.

So I called to set up an account on the phone. During this call, Sprint transferred me and put me on hold so many times that three different Sprint reps ended up pulling my credit to confirm I am eligible for up to 5 lines. This means Sprint has pulled my credit 4 times in a day.

This ended when I was transferred to billing for this 4th credit check, and they told me I'd have to go to a Sprint store with two forms of ID to set up my account. My guess is the extra ID is required because the credit agency is now finding the flurry of credit requests a bit suspicious.

So... I'm off to the Sprint store later with my IDs for undoubtedly a 5th credit check. They'll have to setup my account. Am I going to lose out on the entire deal because I can't do this online or on the phone?

Already seeing that a year of this service might be overpriced even when they're giving it away.

BEFORE you go to the store call again and ask to speak to a supervisor to try to resolve this issue. Call once more FOR ANOTHER SUPERVISOR if no success.

BUT if you go to the store do not allow anyone there to setup an account for you. You'll LOSE this deal if you do that.

IF you go to the store:
CALL the tel # above, 866-782-8777, right before you enter the store and tell the phone rep that you're there to verify ID only and tell him to transfer you to the billing dept where they do the credit check. Tell the billing dept rep that you're at the store to double check and VERIFY your ID only.
Then tell the store rep that you're there ONLY to verify ID, that's all, NOT to open an account. Tell the store rep to speak to the Sprint rep who's on YOUR phone with you to ONLY verify your ID with the phone rep. That's all.
Do not provide your SS # to anyone at the store only to the Sprint phone rep AFTER YOUR ID IS CONFIRMED at the store between the phone rep and the store rep.
Again, do NOT ALLOW anyone at the store to open an account for you no matter how hard they insist. Do NOT initial or sign anything there. Ask to speak to the store manager if necessary. AND JUST WALK OUT IF THEY DO NOT DO JUST THE ID CHECK WITH THE PHONE REP.
They'll get the commission AND you'll pay a LOT of $$$$ if you allow them to open an account for you at the store. JUST DO NOT DO IT.

Yes, you can. But, you WOULD have to port in two numbers, from Google Voice or T--Mobile, etc.

It's not that unusual to be asked to go to a store to verify ID, so don't freak. However, HunterOne's advice of what to do in the store is "right-on"!
