I paid $400 early termination fees to get out of Sprint 4 years ago.Simply because Sprint 4G LTE wireless networks was actually a 2G network if you compare it with industry standard. This deal is great only if you are only a very minor data user and most of your cellphone usage are calling or texting. Otherwise, even a few bucks are still money, right?
one of my line used at least 70GB data per month on this free plan

Trying to transfer in from Mint and its not letting me, getting the error message:
Sorry, but our records show you still owe Sprint for this device. Sign in to find this device on your account.

Phone is an unlocked Moto X Pure and its been used on Sprint MVNOs in the past. I checked with TING and the IMEI says available to port in. Tried calling Sprint customer service and theyre clueless on what to do

Did you ever notice any throttling/prioritization after 23B?

You say you used in on mvno's etc but you do not say whether what they say is true. The relevant question is was it EVER used on Sprint.

If money is still owed from prior use on Sprint (possibly by a previous owner) , you will not be able to activate it.

What mvno's say is irrelevant. Sprint itself is stricter than its mvno's.

Sprint chat and customer serfvice are the wrong people to contact for this offer. You have to call the special number for this offer given in the wiki. If they say money is owed, ask them how much.

But if you do not know the full history of the device, I would just assume that what they say is true.

4 years is like 20 in doggie years (and cell providers). If you're rural it might still be poor, but I doubt it. Very usable for most. Try it, or don't.

I bought the device brand new from Amazon direct, not a third party seller. Its a Moto X Pure edition. It was never used on Sprint before. Every Sprint MVNO IMEI check is passing eligibility. Ive spent nearly an hour on the phone being transferred to different depts at Sprint. Nobody really knows about the plan or how to fix the IMEI issue. I missed the number in the thread, ill give that one a try.

EDIT- I give up, this isnt worth it. Every number and dept I try nobody knows how to fix it, or I just get hung up on after wait on hold forever.

Reports indicate that you don't have to wait to port out/port in. There is really no risk, as they will either port you in (after you port out) or not. I would feel more comfortable with the port out to T-Mobile. If there is already a Sprint SIM in your Iphone, no, you wouldn't need to get another/different SIM to port back in. After you port out, wait a day for the system to update (or sooner) and then check the IMEI and phone number on the Sprint Free Plan online checker.
Thank you! That's very helpful. I assume that there's a Sprint SIM card already in my phone since my 2 year contract was with Sprint?

Yes one of my kids used 21GB last month, very minor usage. No termination fee now if you don't like it.
Your kid probably only appears at two locations, school and home.
