I just called the department responsible for BYOD port ins.
And they told me that it has to be 3 months from the port in for that device to be eligible for an upgrade. Which is exactly what they told you in the chat.
I am guessing the information I got from the chat was wrong.
Also they waive the activation fee for additional port ins.

On another note they told me I could upgrade those devices before the 3 month period but then I would forfeit my free BYOD plan and it would change to a paid plan.

Glad to see sprint is still screwing their loyal customers by offering free service to new customers so their already over populated network can be even slower than it was before.
pretty sure that is the case with practically every company.

Dude don't be a hater. Nothing is stopping you from port out and port back in to get the BYOD free plan.

For assistance with unlocking your device, please call Sprint Account Services by following these easy steps:
Call 1-888-211-4727.
Enter your phone number.
Select option 5.
Select option 5 again.
Select option 2.
Hours of operation (in Central Time) are:
Monday through Friday: 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Saturday: 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday: 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

I think you need to select option 1 after the last step of selecting option 2
Any chance retentions will get you on byod plan for new G6 purchase at BB? I figure it is a lot easier than canceling within 14 days and porting hassles. Otherwise I will just port out and try to port in, if that fails I will stay on ATT prepaid and sell phone on Swappa

I'm happy to know you also made it. Cheers.
I have a 868 credit score and was just denied this deal. WTH? It says that I have no installment trades opened and my total number of open revolving bankcard trades opened at least 6 months is too low. I have no idea wth this means. I haven't had a negative statement on my record for 30 years?? Now I have a credit inquiry from Sprint on my report. Mad

But conveniently they are able to offer a Sprint Account Spending Limit (ASL) program. Looks like it has a monthly fee for 5 lines. Wonderful.

Is this what the Sprint credit department told you? If not, I think you can call the number in wiki (866-782-8777) and ask them to help you to set up your new account. If there is a credit issue during the phone call, they will get another credit department guy online to verify your credit together. Worst case is that you need to go to a Sprint store with your ID and ask store to verify your ID and set up a new account in store. Get the account number only but DO NOT let them add any paid line into that new account. Come back and call 866-782-8777 again and let them know your account number and add BYOD lines for you.

Don't give up and good luck.

Thanks for clarifying. I thought that was said in the original post but damn, why in the heck would I get a reject letter? That was enough to make me bail. I'll call them but this is not a great start.

Thanks much Smilie

Way to be sexist on an online deals forum. Guessing you feel good about that.

Or I could post my opinion on an open forum and not be flamed for it. That's a completely new idea, right? Because, I mean, the definition of forum means that if you aren't part of the hive mind then everyone chastises you, right? Oh, no. It means open discussion. Whatever was I thinking?

So I had one BYOD-free line, and then ordered two Essential phones on the $45 plan. I haven't even receved them yet, so I'm yet to activate them, but Sprint called me and said I can't have both the BYOD-free and the paid plans on the same account. They told me to call back after receiving their phones.

Anyone else experience this?

I received my Sprint SIM in the mail so I called tonight to activate. Halfway through the call, right as the CSR was verifying the number I'm porting in, Sprint disconnected the call. I called back, and got a message that they are closed. I checked the time and it was midnight.

So Sprint systems hung up on their customers because it was closing time.
