If I want to port out a number from a Sprint Paid Account, and Port it back to a BYOD Free Account, I've heard some mentioning H2O. But somewhere I saw that the account has to be active 5 days before you can port out? Also, what is the minimum funding you can put in H2O to do this.

Alternatively, T Mobile. Does anyone know if there is a waiting period if I port into a T Mobile Prepaid (without funding), or can I immediately port out after porting in?

TIA

for h20
i did the h20 a few months ago.
since u will want to keep number u will have to pay $10 to fund.
what u really want is your account number and port pin
the h20 reps will make it hard for u to get that because over the last few years, they have come to know that people use h20 for this exact things

anyways what i did was tell the h20 rep that i do not get reception and i will try another carrier.
i do not think there is a 5 day minimum wait on h20.
unless things have changed in last few months

for tm:
i have no direct experience, but others have suggested it is easier and cheaper.
$3 and the tm reps will happily give u your account info and pin
can get tm sim from apple store for free

1. Number to call is :866-782-8777
BTW, regarding this # which I ended up calling due to the "Your order requires additional processing..." error message and useless # from post 13107, I had to spend quite a bit of time giving them all the info that I'd already typed online at least once + going thru some identify verification (probably Lexis Nexis-based).

They can only send SIMs to the billing address and she said it'd be coming by UPS. Problem is, I'm not home on weekdays to receive a package and it could get stolen. They can't send it to my work. She then suggested I go to my local Sprint store to get a SIM. She'll call me to complete the process. I suggested a 2 hour callback, thinking that'd be enough time.

Wow, that was an adventure and waste of a lot of time. Sprint stores will also ask you what phone you have. Stores 3 thru 5 are corporate stores and not franchises. Visited only store 1. Called the rest.

Store 1 closest to me: Can't help you. We don't have any SIMs to give out. We're not a Sprint corporate location. You should go to a corporate store over at _____ and ____ (store 3 below).
Me: Are you guys a franchise store?
Them: Yes.

Store 2) across the street from 1. They never answer their phone, despite repeated calls
3) Waited over 10 minutes on hold. We don't have any.
4) We don't have any.
5) Waited over 30 minutes on hold. In the midst of being on hold, I called them 2 more times from another phone trying to get thru more quickly. 1st time I was immediately put on hold w/o being able to say anything. 2nd time: Got thru w/o hold and told them I'd been waiting over 32 minutes. He was free.

Nope, we don't have any. He and another store claimed that iPhone 8 is newer and they don't have SIMs that'll work. At least he and another claimed they have special SIMs (!!!) depending on phone model (bizarro considering I've used AT&T + SIMs from 3 foreign (outside US) carriers just fine on my unlocked iPhone 6). There shouldn't be anything too special about nano SIMs these days.

He suggested I go to an Apple Store and get an Apple SIM, claiming it'd work. I asked for confirmation and he said yes.

Apple Store: Explained my situation and worker found Sprint's claims a bit odd. He sold me an Apple SIM for $5 and said I should be able to return it if it doesn't work. He also brought me a free Sprint SIM saying they just give those out. That SIM says Boost Mobile, Vrigin and Sprint on it. Waiting for call back from Sprint to complete this.

When you first posted, I directed you to the wiki in this thread. The wiki mentions that you need a Sprint SIM to get this deal and that you can get a free Sprint SIM from the Apple store.

Please read at least the wiki. The 10 minutes it will take to read it would save you hours of frustration dealing with Sprint CSR.

I was originally paying the $13 or so for a Sprint SIM since I'd originally hoped to complete the whole process online. Who knew that going thru https://www.sprint.com/1yearfree could turn into such a project and require reading an entire wiki first, most of which has info that doesn't pertain to my situation? And, the wiki and 1st few posts contain some conflicting and ambiguous info, as well.

I'm now at home able to read thru the wiki, which I had skimmed earlier. I originally started this process online before having lunch. I had no idea that it'd require a call to a # in the wiki instead of the one that comes up in their error page. And, I didn't know the what the even folks at the correct phone # would tell me could cause a uhh.... project. I didn't get off the phone # 866-782-8777 folks until 1:50 pm (hadn't eaten yet).

I was originally going to eat and get a SIM from a Sprint store, as directed. Should've been easy in 2 hours.

Hope it is the 416Q sim(iPhone 8) and not 436C(iPhone 7 or less).

The Sprint SIM the Apple Store gave me for free on the back has a part # of SIMGLW416Q. Let's hope it works.

The $5 Apple SIM which I can probably return has an Apple model # of MJVV2LL/A. Funny enough, I noticed it says it's an Apple Nano-SIM card for iPad...

Sorry to hear. Now that you have everything (phone and SIM card), you don't need to wait for a call back. Just call the number again.

There could be a few things that could be frustrating still:

1. You may have to repeat all your information again to the rep.
2. You might not pass the credit check immediately. If this happens, the rep will ask you to go to a store to verify. Make sure you read the wiki on what to do in this situation.

Good luck, and I hope you do get the free plan without any further troubles.

2. You might not pass the credit check immediately. If this happens, the rep will ask you to go to a store to verify. Make sure you read the wiki on what to do in this situation.

Good luck, and I hope you do get the free plan without any further troubles.
Thanks. I may just call as I have the application id. They did call me the 1st time, when I was on @$#$1@# hold w/their corporate store for over 30 minutes, asking if they had a SIM I needed in stock.

2) They actually already put me on the phone w/their credit check people and I went thru all of that + the 3 "random" questions. Originally, they were going to send me to the store with 2 forms of ID, but the CSR said she could bypass that and thus put my on the credit check person.

But yes, as the wiki, other posts and even the CSR said, don't let anyone in the store activate the line, only have them verify identity.

I would return the $5 sim without using it. The free sim will work for you.

When you call the number listed tell them you have the sim needed. Do not get into discussion about was if sim bought from sprint etc.

Free deals do need some background work and patience. Do not expect it to be a 5 min job.
