why not check the ring to number instead .
but u will need rinto account number and porting pin.
Thanks..I will check my records and see if I still have that.. If I dont have it, what option do I have without any number to port..How do I get a new number to port to Sprint?

From Broadband.com.
I just ported a RingTo number in a while ago.
Thanks for the confirmation..

Your Verizon iphone has never been used? Like brand new, never activated? Or not in use at this time? You want to make sure your iphone is unlocked(sim) or it won't work on sprint.
Not in use at this time..I was supposed to sell it, then changed my mind and kept it..I already had an LG phone which I liked so I just kept this for when the LG dies..When I got in on the verizon deal 2yrs ago I activated it and then ported out to Ringto within 2 weeks..I had 5 lines and ported out to Tmobile, RingTo and H20..It should be unlocked since the Sprint page says that the phone qualifies..

Google Voice Instructions

I believe others are having luck by following these instructions:
Go to https://www.google.com/voice/b/0/unlock and unlock your Google Voice number, which will cost $3 and is payable online by card
Set a voicemail pin here https://www.google.com/voice/b/0#...ilsettings - you will need this pin in order to finish the porting
Good luck, I haven't personally verified this but others in the thread seem to be having luck

If you've never set your pin or if you want to try to change it, this worked for me.
Change your PIN
On your computer, open Google Voice.
At the top left, open Menu Menu and then Legacy Google Voice. Google Voice will look different, but you're in the right place.
At the top right, click Settings Settings and then Settings.
Click the "Voicemail & Text" tab.
Next to "Voicemail PIN," enter and confirm your new PIN.
At the bottom, click Save changes.

The Sprint imei checker also said my nieces' iphone 6s was good to go but it turned it was locked to T-Mobile. Couldnt use it till we got it unlocked by them.

That being said, since you activated it with Verizon it should be unlocked for good, based upon us reseller flex policy.

Thanks..I was trying to avoid google voice since I wasn't familiar with it but maybe it is an option..I did log into my RingTo account but where do I find the pin and porting info from verizon? all I see is a whole bunch of messages to someone who is not me in the last year..Under account settings I just see my address and the phone number..Under number settings I see my 2 RingTo numbers and the Porting Completed message from when I ported these to RingTo.

I also found a Tmobile sim (unused) - can I just activate that now on this iphone with the $3 monthly plan, and then give that number when I call Sprint to activate their sim?

Yes that worked for me. Just get your account number and 4 digit pin from the sales agent during the call. Also, you don't have to fund the prepaid account.

You activated the Tmobile sim via phone call, and got the account number and 4 digit pin? After that, how long did it take for your tmobile number to be ported to Sprint when you called Sprint?

Yes to your first question.

To answer your second question:

After I finished speaking with the Sprint agent it took about 10 minutes to complete the port.

To port a number from ring.to your account number will be the 10 digit phone number and the pin is the last four digits of the number.

Ring.to is "Bandwidth.com" as far as Sprint is concerned.

Thanks..If I ported to RingTo 2 years ago and haven't done anything with the number, is the number still mine to use? I see all kinds of messages on my account to some other person in the past 2 years..

----------------------------

I went this evening to Sprint store and got a free sim and the guy put it in my iphone..Hope everything goes well..I will have to read the wiki again..
