Looking to join in on this deal this month but have a quick question. My TMobile month ends on the 12th, but my Sprint sim card will not arrive until after that date. If I don't top up my TMobile account will I still be able to take advantage of this deal when I set up my account and plan with Sprint once my sim arrives?
Sure. Your T-Mobile phone number is active/portable for at least 30 days without funding. Just make sure you know your PIN.

The TMobile, AT&T and Verizon models never used to be listed but I see they have just added them.

Activating those models would require flashing their ROM to the Sprint ROM or the Unbranded ROM to work.

The only thing I can think of is that a policy change may be in the works for stores to flash the ROM's and add the devices to the Sprint databases.

If this is true, evidently it has not reached the staff yet. Until it does, you cannot activate it. It is not even in the Sprint database. Often there is a lag between decisions at high levels and actual practice in the field.

If someone wants to pursue it, one way would be to call a Sprint Corporate store with a repair center and ask them if they could check if there is a new procedure under which they would flash S8 phones of other carriers to the Sprint ROM.

The flashing can be done on a do-it-yourself basis but there is no point doing it unless they are prepared to add such flashed devices to the database, which in general they have not been up to now. I did notice one or two people managing to get it done recently so maybe a change in policy is in the wind..
Thank you, this is really frustrating since it shows that it should work on their website. I'm going to go back to tmobile as I have already wasted 3 hours on this and the sprint store basically told me go fark yourself when I went in.

If you can get the store to add the imei to the database then you are set. But of course the sprint rom needs to be on the device for it to work.

Perfectly understandable.
Since that change, adding S8/S8+ Verizon/AT&T/TMobile models as supported was just made in the last few days, or at most the last week or so, it is likely going to create quite a lot of attention and we should have clarification one way or the other soon I imagine, if you want to stay tuned.

Yes I believe they used to lock out the stores from adding those particular models IMEI's to the database, but I gather they have recently removed that prohibition. I guess this change to the list of supported models is at least confirming this is now allowed. I suppose you could show the Sprint page that says they are now allowed to a store manager. Undoubtedly there are internal technical bulletins on this subject.

Post edit: They may have added the IMEI's very recently since they now say the other carrier S8 versions are eligible.
Perhaps all carriers are mutuially adding the other carriers' bands via OTA updates.
It is possible that all of the carrier S8 versions are now being added to the Sprint database.

I did this and was basically told to they couldn't do anything since their internal site doesn't reflect that. It's really frustrating since I am supposed to work remotely tomorrow before hoping on a flight for a business trip. At this point I think I am going to go into tmobile and switch back to tmobile since sprint is basically telling me go @#$% yourself.

Anyone have the tmobile CEO email? In the past a top down approach has worked when I had issues with tmobile.

So here's a question. I have a galaxy s7 edge(international variant) and is not eligible. Can I enter my friend's Motorola E4 IMEI and get a sim, insert the sprint sim in it for the first time and then change the sim to my phone? Thanks in advance.

Device Upgrades (you can still "swap" a device that you buy separately)

When can I upgrade to a new phone on this promotion?
Upgrades for lines activated on the FREE Unlimited plan will be allowed after 120 days of service. Any upgrades prior to the 120 days will require a plan change to the Unlimited data, talk and text plan. Unfortunately, you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

Old upgrade terms in Sept:
If you signed up for the offer before 8/1/17, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 10/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 10/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

If you signed up 8/1/17 or later, you can upgrade to a new Sprint phone by leasing or purchasing it in monthly installements after 12/1/17, and you'll still enjoy your free year of service. Any upgrades prior to 12/1/17 will require a plan change to Unlimited data, talk and text and you'll lose the remaining free months in your year of free service.

What happens if I lose or break my own phone and don't have replacement insurance?
If the phone you bring to Sprint through the Unlimited - Bring Your Phone promotion is lost or breaks, you have options that allow you to keep your first year of free service:
** You can purchase a Sprint phone at full manufacturer's retail price, or
** Swap out a different eligible phone although a new Sprint SIM may be required

Start a new plan under a different SSN (spouse, family member, friend).
Port your iphone 6 to another carrier and remove it from your old Sprint account.
Port in the phone into the new account that is under a different SSN.

The device supports Sprint. But is not eligible for the offer. Can I not swap the sim to a supported device which is not eligible for the offer?
