I signed up for this deal last week. Porting over an ipad pro. Spent 30 minutes or more on phone with them last week and they declared me eligible for the deal. Was very clear it was for ipad before I ordered. Gave them imei number and verified. Got my sim card today. Called to activate. Another 40 minutes wasted before they tell me "Sorry, you are not eligible for this deal with the ipad." (After reading thru the initial post, I do see the ipad was originally eligible but not on second list.).

I am sorry but their customer service is just horrid. I was a sprint customer for 15 years; treated horribly; ditched them for T-mobile and love T-mobile. I guess this little episode was karma for me being a bit greedy. Not worth the hassle.

I realize it is a nice offer for people switching phones over and the sprint coverage is decent but sort of glad I am not sucked back in
Click "get deal" above then click "get started" on sprint promo page. Then read "Tablets are ineligible for this promotion" right above the enter phone id box. 15 seconds extra time wasted.
No need to call customer service or attempt to sign up.

I acted upon the original post that said ipad pro was eligible. I clicked the link. I entered by imei number and the system said I qualified but then indicated I had to call in to complete the credit check. I was very clear with the agent that it was an ipad pro. She re entered the imei number and confirmed I was good. I completed the order with the agent on line. That process took 30 minutes. I called again tonight and it took 40 minutes for them to correct the record. I was not trying to pull a fast one. I acted in good faith. I was upfront about my device and they flat out wasted my time.

Just to be clear on the actual possibility, nobody in this thread has ever posted that they successfully activated a tablet or mobile broadband device on this offer (except at $20 a month).

The legal terms on the bottom of the Sprint page for this offer have always, from the beginning, said "Plan not avail. for tablets/MBB devices."

So tablets were never accepted, but Sprint has often posted compatibility lists sourced from other uses within Sprint that included iPad models. The lists were just marketing materials or compatibility lists and never used as actual criteria for what could be activated.

You will get far better advice if you ask here than asking Sprint order clerks.

Yes, Sprint is at fault for being extremely sloppy in including iPads in its compatibility lists which were reprinted in connection with this offer.

It gets even worse because you can select several options on the dashboard such as Premier International Experience, and the free music plans, and even get written confirmation by email, but they will just cancel them the next day.

But it's all worth it for the free plan and you just have to put up with the rough edges. Evidently they did not want to spend a lot of money on staff training and web site changes tailored to this free plan.

Many people have ported from freedompop, depending on which freedompop plan. To search, click on search and type "freedompop." Big Grin

I ported from the freedom global sim. Porting from fp is slow; took over a day. You can't port from fp cdma since that's essentially Sprint mvno.

The freedompop numbers are not Sprint numbers though. They are bandwidth.com numbers (or other independent provider). (There are also separate hidden Sprint numbers that are assigned too under the covers but the end user does not see them).

So I suspect all freedompop numbers should work ok (subject to others' experiences - I have not tried myself). Sprint should see them as bandwidth.com (or similar) voip numbers.

I have an old LG Volt that was used with Ringplus before. If it passes Ting and Sprint checker, I can swap it into my free plan?

It has no chance of passing the Sprint checker. Sprint Prepaid phones are not allowed on Postpaid (with a few exceptions which do not apply here).

But if it did, yes, you could swap it on, or just activate it in fact.

Sure, try it to see for yourself.

It will pass the Ting checker which will not help.

Not one single person has reported activating a Volt successfully on this plan - I have two so I was watching carefully.

Thanks, after your comment I looked carefully and found a small "search this thread" option. Before, I was making mistake of using main search option for deals, coupons and stores SmilieSmilieSmilie

I'm on this BYOD unlimited since end of June, and in my account it has been saying that it ends 07/31/18 then turns into $60 a month. My question is, if I open an additional line under my account for my wife, from what I've seen, it will end somehow in Oct next year, my question is, if I bailed before the additional line's promo expiration, I'm thinking that line would be gone as well. Any cheap way to get the full year for her instead of a hardpull and full account?

Porting another line to existing free account will get original exp date of 1st line (July 2018 for you) -- need to call promo number in wiki to add lines since it can't be done online

There is no such thing as a primary line holding the account together -- you can port out any line whenever you want and the account will keep going with the remaining lines until the last line is gone

If you want the new Jan 2019 exp date then new account is the only way -- in that case you might as well port out your line to a prepaid carrier and then port both lines in under your wife's name

The FAQ states you must wait for 4 months of service to upgrade your device, but it also says you can swap the device if you lose or break device. Does anyone have details or experience with this? If you report the phone lost or broken, does that blacklist the IMEI?

Swapping a device to another one that you already own is never a problem if done through tech. support only and not through Sales. A zillion people do them here all the time. This is not considered an upgrade. An upgrade is where you purchase a new phone under a Sprint Sales special deal.

No waiting period is required. Do not call it an upgrade and do not call Sales to do it. Call it an IMEI swap and do it through tech. support (or self-serve online).

Thanks. If the IMEI we are swapping is currently on a Sprint postpaid plan (not 1 year free), do I need to first call to cancel/deactivate the line through customer service, or will the IMEI swap deactivate the paid line of service?
