Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Waited for another two weeks to satisfy the 45-day requirement after ported my previous number out of Sprint (Had been with Sprint for 4+ years). Called Sprint 1-866-782.8777, following the instructions in WIKI. Successfully ported two lines from Google Voice to this one-year-free deal (Just so I picked up the phone numbers with $3 each.). Two numbers started working in one hour. In the following two days, the Sprint signal seems to be all right in my area. Then I ported three numbers from other carriers by calling the same Sprint number. The only nuisance was that the Sprint Rep (a guy) at the other end pushed me to sign up for the phone protection plan at the cost of 44c/day and he even said it was required and threatened that in case of lose/damage of the phone, the free plan would be terminated - I do not think that is the case any way. All five lines are functioning. The bill is not shown online yet.

Just got my first line activated, took all day on the phone and an hour drive to the sprint store...

On the phone, they said I couldnt use my old sprint sim card, it has to be a bring your
own device sprint sim card. I called best buy and they said they only had them for
iphones, not androids. I ended up at a sprint store, which was supposed to give me
a free sim card but when I got there they tried to charge me $35 and they really wanted
to activate the plan. They said there wasnt a free plan deal and that my account number didnt exist. After a bit of arguing, they decided there was a free plan. Anyways, I was about to leave and then came down to $10 all of a sudden so I took it...

I called and activated, waited 2 hours didnt work, Called back, they forwarded me to the porting department which fixed the problem in 20 minutes or so.

Overall, a big pita... I hope the service is good. Might try to add a second line, not sure if i can get another eligible device before jan 1st though, if that is the cutoff.

How old was your old Sprint Sim ? Im reading the Wiki and it says it should work...

If I go in to the store I need to ask for specifically the BYOD sim, then ?

Very good. By the way there is no such thing as a BYOD sim card. There are just Sprint sim cards. They never expire and are interchangeable between all Sprint subsidiaries and MVNO's and can and should always be reused. They never need to be replaced. However they do differ by device. There are about 30 different ones. Maybe that's what the origin of their confusion. It is really disgraceful how ignorant some of them are. There was no need for you to get a new sim card.

The only time you might need a new one is if the old one is still registered in an online device somewhere on the network. This can happen if you close an account but your MVNO leaves an inactive device in your account with that sim card listed in it. The proper way to fix that is to delete the dormant device and sim card.

Yeah, I had a similar experience. Transferring from freedompop. Had to go to Sprint store to get sim. Charged $10 but was told it was free the day before. Got the impression they really did not want to sell it to me. Tried to activate and for some reason Freedompop has an issue with releasing my number. So now am stuck in porting limbo...(a new term).
BTW..the call center BYOD is located in the Philippines. Not sure where the port issues is located as they have a different number. Not sure its worth is so far. Still waiting of Freedompop to release my number so can port.

Porting limbo....for the new year weekend.

That is a different thing.

The shared Sprint-Google number program is being deprecated and will not work.

Now you just port out directly to Sprint in the normal way.
