Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

^ thank you both!

Last question (i hope!)... I'm wondering if I need to purchase a new/separate sim for the iphone 6.

My E4 arrives tomorrow so that'll be my first test and feels like anyway it should be the smoother path. For that one I know I need to order a Sprint sim.

With the dang iphone 6, it was almost free from Sprint a couple years ago before leasing took over, and that 2-year contract just ended last month. So I've been planning to leave Sprint anyway (it was nice knowing ya, SERO) for a cheaper mvno, but now that BYOD has come along I might as well try to hop back on the Sprint train for another year. Feels like a nice parting gift after 12 years with Sprint.

And now to get to the point - to have a shot at jumping back onboard with BYOD promo, is there any reason I would want/need to buy a new sim for the iphone 6, or is the current sim good to go?

Per email conf. My sim kits are on their way. Somehow they are now listed as O-760492035279-BYOD ISIM KIT and
O-760492034500-BYOD SIM Kit. I guess the O- means order? Anyways, I was prev. told by a helpful user that the one ending in 4500 would be compat. w/ Nexus 6P. It is also stated in this link: https://bestcellular.com/product/csim-kit-v1/
The sim kit ending in 5279 also shows as compat. w/ N6P as stated in this link: https://bestcellular.com/product/isim-kit-v1/
Questions:
Is the site wrong regarding 5279 compat. w/ N6P?
If both sim kits work, is there a difference on which one I use?
When will I first be billed? (I haven't rec'd sim, so I think these days don't count as having an active line.
Which phone would most resemble or surpass by a bit the specs of lg Stylo 3 Plus? (I came up with Moto G5s Plus).
Thanks.

There is never any need for a new Sprint sim for a phone that has been on Sprint or a Sprint mvno.

Sprint's model is that the Sprint sim stays with the Sprint phone for the life of the phone (and in fact it has to do so on a few older phones wth enbedded sims), regardless of all changes of plan, ownership, moves back and forth onto an mvno, whatever.

Successfully ported from Mintsim. Reception is so much better.

I called to do the order and when I called they waived the $2.99 fee for the sim card. So I only paid the $10 for shipping.

When you were porting did you say from mintsim or tmobile? How long did the port take?

I just activated a Nexus 5 I had lying around on this great deal. My daughter has a Virgin Mobile iPhone 7 that I think I want to try to pry away from VM and add it to my new free Sprint account. Does anyone think I won't be able to do this? Does it matter who's ssn is linked to my daughter's VM account (it may be mine)?

Now that I think of it, the VM account is prepaid with Auto renew on my credit card, so I don't think they can trace me that way , right? (Come and get me, copper..😂)

Or in other words, if I have a Sprint-branded iphone 6 that is currently active with Sprint (not under contract), what's the most efficient way to port out and then go right back to Sprint via the BYOD promo? Is that possible?

So you ported in a number from a different carrier to activate the Nexus 5 with Sprint BYOD? Or how did you pull that off?

edit: I'm not too sure either way regarding the VM iphone 7

I also ported from MintSim. I had to explain many times that MintSim is T-Mobile MVNO. CSR has to check with supervisor. Porting was completed in 30 minutes.

And from what you described in your post, combined with what I've absorbed from this massive thread, sounds like you should be fine to port your daughter's number from VM to Sprint BYOD on the same new account.
IMHO,....It may be difficult/impossible to get a VM ip7 onto a sprint free BYOD account.

But wait for expert opinion here

I have an active Sprint number/device that I'm thinking of porting out to MintSim, to then port back in on a new BYOD account. Can you help me understand what steps you took leading up to the CSR/supervisor phone call and porting? Did you just call the promo # directly and go from there, or did you do anything leading up to that online, ordering a sim card, etc?

i have not seen many people use mint sim to do the port dance...in/out of sprint

2 popular methods i seen are :

1. h20
2. tmobile

1. i have used h20. is reasonable. cost = $10 (1c for sim + $10 "ransom" to get account number) relatively quick port. the $10 will allw u to make some calls, text etc...to make sure is fully ported...make at least 3 calls to 3 different phone numbers while on h20..

2. see below post for tm details:
Using Tmobile $3 for porting:

Quote from Scott.MI
Either buy a new, unused, unactivated tmobile sim card from Ebay, (The seller I bought from was 3.50 but now 3.75, but something like item number 263416268342 would work) or get one from apple store possibly free. If you need your phones to work with talk or texting while with t-mobile you will need refill cards. When I got the sim cards, I just put the sim card in a phone and try making a call and it goes to T-mobile with voice prompts. (don't have one, new activation, Port my number, and new requests I think are the prompts I used. When you get to a live person, tell them your interested in bringing your number from sprint and activating T-mobile prepaid. (They may transfer you to t-mobile prepaid activated department). They asked what plan and I said the pay as you go plan, and when asked about payment I said I was getting refill cards locally after I was sure the number ported as refill cards are not returnable. ( I only did 2 numbers at a time)

Thanks for the h2o suggestion. I'm open to whatever option will work to get my Sprint-branded iphone 6 (currently active w/ Sprint) out of sprint and then back in with the BYOD promo.

Any guess as to which is better option between those two with my Sprint ip6?

Another option, although more expensive than those 2 suggestions, is to port into Google Voice ($20) then back out ($3) to Sprint. This way you don't have to worry about the phone and you can confirm the port out by calling different numbers using the Google Voice or Hangouts app.

This ip6 is not unlocked, so I'm assuming I'll run into issues trying to activate it on a GSM network.

comintel has been very helpful in previous posts on this topic and has pointed out it's not actually necessary to activate a device... it's the number that is key when it comes to porting.

But logistically, at least for me, it becomes tricky trying to figure out how to port out and in without activating a device. I don't have an extra IMEI from a spare device and not sure how to otherwise get a IMEI that would work for this purpose..
