Guys, I don't know, but I just chatted with one of Sprint's reps and she told me that this promo will be activate until 2019. I asked again to be sure I understood correctly and she reiterated that it will indeed be active the whole year of 2018.
That's referring to a different thing. If you activate NOW, your plan will last free until Jan 31 2019, yes, that is known.

The open question is when they will cut off NEW signups.

Fair enough. However, the rep specifically said that I could take advantage of the promo February onwards all the way to 2019 (she said February because I specifically asked if the promo is being extended to February). Also, I did not provide any info about myself nor did I mention that I currently had an account. For precaution, I used chrome instead of the My Sprint app to chat. Nevertheless, if Sprint internal memo has been wrong before, maybe the rep is to.

Why can't you use the phone with the glitch and swap it later when you get the new one? On a side note, I'm trying to add my Moto G5 Plus (unlocked version, no ads, from Amazon) to a plan but they said it's a prepaid phone and not eligible, what do I do?
You need to find out if it really is a prepaid phone or not.
If it is, Amazon shipped you the wrong model and you can return it. Look closely at the ad.
The real problem might be something else. Often the Telesales staff guess at the reason. Check the phone number that you gave them.

I'm actually trying to help you. If you return the OLD broken phone to Amazon they will refund you the money you paid for the NEW phone, meaning you won't pay anything for it and you'll gave gotten a working phone.
You're still not getting this somehow. I didn't buy the phone from Amazon, so no, Amazon won't refund me for a phone I didn't buy from them. And I can ALREADY send the phone in to B&H (I told you that's where I bought it) and they will send me a new one. It's just the time factor that's a problem and the uncertainty when the Sprint promo will end.

Now, do you seriously think Amazon will give me a refund for a phone I didn't buy from them?
Why would they do that?

There is no way to know re the end of the promo. At past month-ends, we have had supposedly solid info. posted by Sprint corporate staff here that said there was an internal memo that it would not be extended, and then it was extended anyway.

If it has been extended though, we may know by mid-day on the 31st from the Telesales staff as they are often told by then.
Awfully short notice. That's my problem. If I knew now whether or not it will extended, I'd know how to act. I asked a couple Sprint reps and got the same answer: it is often extended, but it's a limited time offer and they can't say for sure one way or another.

So, I have a phone with a glitch, but I may have fixed the glitch. I can send it back to B&H for return or exchange, but the turnaround time will take it past the 31st. I saw the first sign of this glitch the day I received the phone. Wish I'd sent it back for exchange then.

To be fair, I also gave the option of getting another one from b&h...
To be fair, you didn't. Besides, I already said I could return it to them, so how are you giving me that option?? All you've done is told me what I already knew, or tried to get me to return a device to a company I didn't get it from. Please, stop trying to help me!

You could never trust the reps, more so a Sprint rep.

Buy a used Sprint phone from eBay or swappa or buy a basic Moto g from Amazon just for you to use for this deal. Then once you sort out the problem with your new phone, and you have it in hand, you can swap phones, say from Moto G to your new phone. How much will the 12 months cost you if you miss this deal? How much is it to buy a burner phone?

Agreed. Dealing with Sprint rep is time-wasting, energy-draining, drives-you-crazy, moments that you will remember for rest of your life!!!!

Btw, when I first signed up for this, I called Canada because Sprint advertises it as free, but I was charged for it. You have to call or go to account and ENABLE international calling for $0.00 . SHADY SPRINT!!!!

It is a ludicrously overpriced 40 or 50 cents a minute on this plan. It says so in the announcement.

It is free on other plans but not this one. It has never been advertised as free on this plan.

You cannot get it free either by enabling Intl Calling. You can add it as a $5 a month package.

Do billing chat and ask for a credit on the Canada charges.

Thanks for the input.

Yeah, I've thought about doing something like that. The G4, G4 Plus and the G4 Play all use the same Sprint sim card,, so I would stick to one of those.

The cost would be the monthly charge (a Sprint rep told me that for my zip it would be $6-7 per month, so $72 to $84) plus the cost of the sim vs another year of Mintsim at about $185 (already have the sim). Plus the time spent buying another phone and having to resell it later on and possibly lose a little money doing that.. I've thought of all this. It would really help to know if this promo will be extended. It would make it much less complicated.

Hehe.... Spend the money. If you have family members to give the Moto phone to.... Or buy a used Moto so at least you'll not get hit by too much depreciation. But on a used phone you have to make sure it's a sure deal... Phone not blacklisted, imei number good, etc etc....
