Is it better to try to get this deal online or by calling? I have a new eligible phone and I bought the recommended sim from Best Buy. I will port my number in from H2O.
Since you're supplying your own sim, you have to call in, and that's fine.

I have a PdaNet WiFi hotspot in an unrooted phone, actually an AT&T ZTE no root capable phone and it works great as a WiFi hotspot.
It is the PdaNet v. 4.17. It is available in v. 4.19 but in v. 5.10 there were some changes but I think it is still available and may be phone dependent. Read the PdaNet notes on the new version.
I will not update to v. 5.10 since it works great with v.4.17.
Try v. 4.19 first to see if it'll work with your particular phone and if it works just leave it alone.
Quote from comintel :
Yes that's a useful point. As you note there is no wifi hotspot possible with PDANet / Foxfi on current versions of Android so I did not mention it. For a while there were a few Verizon phones that would still work on new Android versions but very few even of those work any more on the latest Android versions.

But you are right, if you are content to run an older version of Android, you can do that.

I prefer just to do usb tether, which still works on all versions of Android, but you I agree some people need the wifi hotspot and do not want to root to use Wifi Tether Router, so your approach can be good for them.
Actually I have to correct myself because it appears PDANet has recently added a new Wifi HotSpot capability called "Wifi Direct" that allows the HotSpot to work again after all on all Android versions!

I probably should leave it at that and not go into further detail to avoid getting too far off topic.

That date is obsolete and applies to people who signed up around Sept. 2017.
.
Current (Jan. 2018) free period (i.e "savings"), for those enroling now, ends Jan. 31 2019.

That is, you have about one year of free (plus taxes) use ending 1/31/2019.

Sprint does it again. I went to the Sprint store and told them telesales asked me to go to a store and have them verify my identification. They looked at me through glazed eyes and had no clue what I was talking about. I tried to explain but alas there was no way around their incompetence. They offered to sign me up for a new plan and wave activation costs on the spot. Lol. Needless to say I left before they did something stupid. Ill call back to sprint again one more time tonight and if that isn't good enough ill write this deal off as not worth the hassle.

So here is my situation. I have tmobile prepaid (the wallmart plan $30). I just got the essential phone from ebay. It is new. I put my tmobile sim in and it works. I checked the IMEI on sprint and it said not eligible. Any ideas? I thought of transferring to a post paid account so it shows up its active somewhere else. But I read people with prepaid account got this promo with no issues. HELP time is running out. Sprint idiots are no help as always.

I'm kind of bummed. I want to buy my mother a phone that's a bit better or comparable to the one she has right now (LG Stylo 3 Plus). That phone costs around $150. I think the closest one to it is the Moto G5 Plus and it costs $200+. I have a feeling that the G5 Plus is slightly worse and G5S Plus doesn't warrant the price. SMH.

The saga continues. Made a call to sprint after failing to get my ID verified in-store today. Telesales informed me that the sprint store I went to was not a corporate store. Closest corp store is 35 miles away which is not convienent. She suggested that if I can't make it to a corporate store to try a different third party store again. Said it would be okay to have the third party store create an account and verify my identity. Then call telesales afterwards to get on the promo. Does this sound legit?

No. Do not do that. According to the wiki, you'll regret it. It has become obvious that Sprint intends to make you have a hard time with your SSN. Is there another SSN that you can use? Spouse, child, etc.?
