Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

What exact sim cards part numbers are they? Post them and we will tell you whether they are the correct ones for the respective phones. (Or you can look at https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/ar...r-SIM-Card [ting.com] yourself).

If the port requests are still outstanding, you can call the porting dept at Sprint directly at 866-437-1818 prferably during the day and work on thee problem lines. They will work on them while you are on the line and call Cricket if you ask them to.
I've checked the sim parts and the store gave me the wrong sim for the phone, but I didn't realize it until I had sent the phone off to my daughter. She'll be back Thursday and I will try to fix it then, I guess. Very irritating and it's going to cost me a month's service for that line with Cricket.

I will re-try the port of my other daughter's line and if it fails again, I will do as you suggest. Thanks for the help.

Ask Cricket if you can port out a few days after your paid month expires. I bet they would be willing. Maybe call it suspended status or temporary hold pending port out or whatever.

Many, if not most, MNVOs hold onto your number for 30 days, so it's usually not a problem. I had that concern once with one and they said I had up to 30 days to port out after closing the account.

Actually it has run for over 7 months.
I would have preferred to wait till the end of February, but I'm only sacrificing a month that I pre-paid for by signng up today. If someone is truly going month to month, then it shouldn't really matter if it's extended or not. You still get the same year of service.

When do you think we'll find out for sure if it has been extended? How do they announce it?

By the way, I told a CSR that I'm getting a weak signal and slow speeds. At first he was going to send me a Magic Box, but when I told him I had wifi he said I'd be better off with an Airave, so he's sending an Airave 3.0 at no cost to me.

They never announce it until the web site is updated on first of the month but the reps have to be told and are unanimous by the 31st so it is clear enough to me then as we get a stream of reports.

We have had false "is not extended" reports before but not false "is being extended" reports so I believe it is being extended.

That's true that Airtave would suit you better. I already have wifi calling on my phone so it would not help me.

Isn't 1/31/18 to 1/31/19 a year (12 months)?

I gather some E4's are locked to Verizon - probably including yours. .Most unlocks are just for gsm.

Try the imei on Ting and see what it says. https://ting.com/byod

Probably it will confirm no go on Sprint.

I had already decided to activate today anyway, so her telling me this didn't change anything. But it did sound more definitive than the other 2 reps I'd talked to a couple weeks ago who said they had no info yet. If I gambled and guessed wrong, I could lose a whole year of service in the hopes of saving about $15 that I'd prepaid. I talked to a CSR today who told me my monthly taxes would come to $3.11 since I enabled auto-pay. Hope she was right. She said she was waiving the $30 admin fee, but I felt that was BS and told her so LOL. She said they started charging it again but would extend that for me, so I said thank you. All in all it went quite smoothly and took about 40 minutes, after which I was completely ported over. I was surprised to not have to answer the verification questions, since everyone else said they did.

Edit: Just checked my email and it looks like I'm actually getting a magic box, not an airave. The item says: AIRSPAN AU544MAGICBX GEN2

Oh sure that's not unreasonable.

Sound to me like some of their staff are lying right and left though.

Most likely, especially about the device protection plan. I'll say this though---they've all be very courteous. Especially the tech support guy today who welcomed me twice.

Read what I added to my last post to you.

I think you are right.

But maybe just keep whatever comes and try for the other one as well?

I was thinking the same thing. I could wait till the first ships, then call them and say I'd been promised the other.

I was housesiting a friend's place about 10 years ago in Tucson who lived in a very nice foothills area, but had terrible reception with Verizon, which I had. Couldn't keep a call for even 5 minutes without it dropping. Didn't have data then, so I don't know about that. I got them to send me their range extender, which sold on ebay by private parties for around $225. It was practically worthless for me--the calls kept dropping, even when I was in the same room as it. I ended up selling it on CL for about $150, so all was not lost. I just looked and the Airave goes for about $45 on Amazon, but less on ebay. I don't intend to sell it if it works, assuming I still get one. I couldn't find a magic box for sale.

You would of only saved $3.11 by waiting not $15 since you already prepaid.

Not the way I look at it. I see it as sacrificing a month of service I paid for. Look at it this way: If I were able to sign up at the end of Feb, my year would go to Feb 28, 2019. Add February 2018 to the free year, and it becomes 13 months. By signing up today, I only get 12. Eventually I will have to pay for February 2019. That will cost at least $15.

If it helps, substitute the word "salvaging" for when I said "saving". A penny salvaged is a penny earned, right?

That's true forgot about extending end of free year. Or if it's like the November 1st extension it was free for 14+ months.
