Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Phone MUST be CDMA compatible AND able to use the Sprint LTE bands, 25, 26, 41.

Most T-Mobile phones run only on the GSM system and will not work with Sprint OR Verizon.

You didn't tell us what phone you're talking about!
MInd enlightening me about the different bands, as I'm more used to GSM bands? I switched to Sprint the other day. I'm getting mediocre reception (although no dropped or sputtering ) calls and down speed inside my house, but am being sent an Airvave, so that should help. I have LTE Discovery telling me what band I'm on. In the house, it varies between 25 and 26 (the mediocre reception), which I think is odd, but out and about it shows Band 41, and I get great reception and about 35 mbps down. Do you know what the different bands signify? Thanks

To get an idea read my post here:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=111660491&postcount=93

Just remember that Band 41 signal has pretty poor building penetration while Bands 25, 26 are pretty good for that.

That's why: "out and about it shows Band 41, and I get great reception and about 35 mbps down."

Band 41 cell towers if properly maintained have pretty high LTE speeds.

Most likely the Airave will help in your location while the Magic Box wont.

Check this map to find various Bands cell towers near you:

Very nice. Thank you. repped

I will check out your post and the article. My phone says it also has Band 12. Haven't encountered that so far. I thought that was a Tmobile band for penetrating larger buildings.

Ok, I opened the map, entered my address and it zeroed in on it. However I don't understand what to enter in the Tower Search box, or anywhere else if that's necessary. So far I don't see any symbols on the map indicating towers.

Btw, my account now says I will be billed $2.97 on Feb 21 on my auto pay. It says that is the total due. Normally I'd let it rest with that, however it also says "Charges for 1/28/18-1/28/18. Two things are odd about that 1. it is the same day. 2. I signed up on the 29th. Also, when I expanded the details on the charges, it listed the admin fee and numbers other local fees, however there were no taxes listed. Will they be charging me tax in addition to the $2.97?

Iphone 6S+

Look at the model # on the back and google it to find out its compatibility.
It'll be something starting with an A like:

iPhone Model Model No. CDMA EV-DO
6 Plus (GSM/North America) A1522 Unofficial*
6 Plus (CDMA/Verizon) A1522 800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz
6 Plus (Global/Sprint) A1524 800, 1700/2100, 1900, 2100 MHz
6 Plus (China Mobile) A1593 None

Check this:

https://everymac.com/systems/appl...odels.html

And also enter your phone's IMEI here to check if it's CDMA compatible:

https://ting.com/byod

If you get this then your phone is ok with Sprint:

Great news!
Your phone is compatible with Ting!
What's more, you can take your pick of the CDMA or the GSM network!

GSM
Your phone will support the following services on our GSM network.

2G 3G 4G
HSPA+
4G
LTE
If your phone is unlocked, you only need a Ting GSM SIM card to get started. If you already have an unused Ting GSM SIM card, please proceed to activation. Otherwise Get a SIM card

CDMA
Your phone will support the following services on our CDMA network.

2G 3G 4G
LTE
If you already have a SIM card (there may be one already inserted in the phone) you can proceed to activation. Otherwise, you'll need to get the appropriate SIM card for your phone.

If you get only GSM then your phone is NOT compatible with Sprint.
If you get both GSM and CDMA or CDMA only then your phone is compatible with Sprint.
if it's compatible with Sprint you can get a FREE Sprint Sim at an Apple store, all you have to do is ask.

IF the Sprint web page IMEI check says that it's not compatible but you get OK compatible with the Ting IMEI check then when you call Sprint the rep may be able to fix it and BYOD into Sprint.

That map may not be accurate for your location.

The Sprint billing system is a bit strange but as long as you're not charged more than a few $$/mo./line you're ok. Anyway, Sprint is pretty good in correcting billing errors when you request.

I'm fine with $2.97/mo as long as they don't add several dollars of tax onto it. It does say total charge, so I'm hoping that's what that means. But when you read the charges, it says that there are no taxes listed.

I got this message 'If your Apple iPhone 6S Plus (A1687) is unlocked you can bring it to Ting today! It will support the following services on our GSM network". I guess it's not compatible. Thanks for the helpful information.

Get a sim that will work with your 5X and do Sprint chat and ask them to swap your number from iPhone to the 5X. Best Buy sells Sprint sims for $5 (Apple) to $10 (Android).
Very odd. I was always under the impression that SIM used to activate on iPhone 6 Plus will not work with Nexus 5X, but it did. I opened a chat session after logging into my Sprint account. Support - Activate/Swap Device. Clicked on Chat Online on right hand side of the web page. Here is the chat transcript
Hello! I?m Cura, Sprint's Virtual Agent. I'm still learning, but ready to help you with a variety of topics.

Here are some things I can help you do:
Swap or activate a device
Check your upgrade eligibility
Change your phone number
Return a device
Update your address
Want to chat with a person at any time? No problem ? just type live agent to be transferred to a specialist immediately.

How can I help you today?
You : I have service on iPhone 6 Plus and want to move the SIM to Nexus 5X. How do I do that?
Cura : Uh oh! I?m not trained to handle that request just yet, but I?ll connect you with someone who can.
Cura : Let me transfer you to a specialist for more help.
Kyler Y. : Hello.
Kyler Y. : May I have the phone number where you want to swap the phone?
You : XXX-XXX-XXXX
Kyler Y. : Thank you.
Kyler Y. : May I have the IMEI number of the Nexus 5X?
You : Nexus 5X IMEI: xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Kyler Y. : Thank you.
Kyler Y. : could you also confirm the ICCID number of the new phone?
You : Where will I get the ICCID of the phone?
You : I thought ICCID is for the SIM
Kyler Y. : Yes, that is correct. I will need the SIM card number of the new phone.
You : I don't have a SIM for the new phone. The SIM is in iPhone 6 Plus
Kyler Y. : So, you want to use the SIM card active on 6 plus to the Nexus phone, right?
You : that is correct
Kyler Y. : Thank you for confirming.
Kyler Y. : You may insert the SIM card to the Nexus phone and turn both the phones off.
You : SO, I take the SIM card out of iPhone 6 Plus and insert it into Nexus 5X. Is that what I need to do?
Kyler Y. : Yes, that is correct.
You : ok, give me a couple of minutes while I do that
Kyler Y. : Sure, please take your time.
Kyler Y. : Also, to make you aware, you may be able to save money with Sprint Works (NVP).
Kyler Y. : To determine discount eligibility visit www.sprint.com/save.
You : ok, both phones are off and I have transferred my SIM from iPhone 6 Plus to Nexus 5X
Kyler Y. : Perfect!
Kyler Y. : I have swap the phone. Please turn the Nexus 5X on.
Kyler Y. : Once the phone is back on, dial 1-888-546-0314 and let me know if it was successful.

Things like above phone activation is what keeps me from ever keeping Sprint when the free promo is over. Things we take for granted on the other 3 major US carrier is a freaking headache with Sprint. You need imei, then you need iccid, then you me to know if the sim card will work with your phone. On top of that I can never get the online phone activation/swap to work.
If I break my phone on the middle of night I just swap sim to another phone and be on my way again with the other 3 carrier.

Glad it worked well for you. Sometimes it just takes longer for the new phone to get service. Sometimes it helps if you manually update prl etc etc settings or do reset network. That's cool that your sim works for both phones.

I have used a 5X too. Yours doesn't bootloop? There is a new class action lawsuit for this.

I got this message 'If your Apple iPhone 6S Plus (A1687) is unlocked you can bring it to Ting today! It will support the following services on our GSM network". I guess it's not compatible. Thanks for the helpful information.
The A1687 6s plus should definitely work on sprint. It has same bands as sim free A1634 6s plus except band 30 which att uses.
Try running with 'find my iPhone off" on ting checker to possibly push imei into database.

Anybody having trouble getting data on iphone SE? Sprint phone support tried everything and then asked me to go to corporate store. Checking with slickdeals community before making a 40 mile drive.

That's my main concern also -- that my backup phone won't work with sprint in case I need it.

Does anyone know what the cheapest (even a dumb phone) phone that works with the BYOD program as a backup?
