Hi, I have opened an account a week back to get this offer with 1 line.

I have another number that is currently on MintSim and has about 3 more months of mileage. Can I add the line after MintSim expires to get the offer or do I need to add it to the account before the deal expires?

Opinions on that are split. Based on the wording ("add a line at any time") I personally think you will still be able to add lines to existing accounts after the offer closes to new customers, others think not. There is no way to know for sure which is correct. Such future policy issues are beyond the knowledge of the reps. who usually guess randomly or say they do not know anyway.

According to this on Sprint's 1 Year Free web page, you're right in that a line can be added at ANY time, until April 30, 2019. However conflicting info has been given by some Sprint reps on this. However, reps have also said, WRONGLY, that the promo offer expires 1 YEAR AFTER the account is opened and not until 4/30/20129.:

"Limited Time Offer. Credit approval req. Req. AutoPay, eBill, and port-in from postpaid carrier. 1 year free Unlimited Offer: Eligible device must be unlocked and compatible with Sprint SIM card and network. Reqs. SIM card purchase ($2.99 + $10 S&H + tax). SIM must be activated prior to port-in. No device upgrade allowed during first 4 months. Phone features and network experience may vary based on original device carrier. Excl. ports made between Sprint or related entities. Unlimited — Bring Your Phone Plan: Incl. unlimited domestic calling, texting & data & 10GB of high-speed Mobile Hotspot, VPN & P2P. Third-party content/downloads are add'l. charge. Sel. non-premium int'l. svc. incl. See sprint.com/globalroaming. Up to 5 lines. Plan not avail. for tablets/MBB devices. After 4/30/2019, plan will become Unlimited Freedom. Add a Line: Add a line at any time with port-in from postpaid carrier and Bring Your Own Eligible Phone up to the max. number of lines & get promotional pricing until 4/30/2019. AutoPay: $5/mo. discount req. continued AutoPay enrollment. Quality of Svc. (QoS): Customers who use more than 23GB of data during a billing cycle will be deprioritized during times & places where the Sprint network is constrained. See sprint.com/networkmanagement for details. Usage Limitations: To improve data experience for the majority of users, throughput may be limited, varied or reduced on the network. Sprint may terminate svc. if off-network roaming usage in a mo. exceeds: (1) 800 min. or a majority of min.; or (2) 100MB or a majority of KB. Prohibited network use rules apply—see sprint.com/termsandconditions. Other Terms: Offer/coverage not avail. everywhere or for all phones/networks. May not be combinable with other offers, including but not limited to AAA, AA, Credit Union, Premium International Experience, Port in credits, Visa Prepaid Reward Cards, Referral Rewards programs and IB/Lease promotions. Restrictions apply. See sprint.com for details. © 2018 Sprint."

Now, has anyone here added a line after their promo offer period ended, from last summer, fall, and the last January 31 deadline???

I see what you mean. There would be another possibility - that the ability to add lines would end on the date on which the particular offer was announced to close for new subscribers.

I think we would have heard screams if that was the case but it never hurts to ask. Nobody has reported being refused yet though.

But none of the "last savings date" dates have arrived yet.

Personally, I think the language you have highlighted is fairly straightforward in meaning.

But they could always make a weird interpretation.

Signed up last night on the phone because the credit check didn't go through online (FICO 800+)..

I was on the phone with a very nice person on the phone for 1 hours.. Everything worked out in the end.. ported over from Cricket w a Verizon iphone 6s...

Sprint is spotty and slow.. but free is free.. I hit 1.87 MBPS with Sprint.. Same phone its 60+ with verizon and similar with ATT.. oh well. Smilie

The operator said I could get 4 more lines free.. wow!

TIP.. have your Cricket account number and PIN ready.. I set my PIN on cricket.com, while on the call with Sprint.
Maybe try doing a carrier reset or update device config/update prl.

I switched yesterday from Verizon to Sprint and my experience was similar to yours. Unfortunately, the Sprint operator I spoke with had a very heavy Mandarin accent and did a 10 minute hard sell with the insurance coverage, "how can you not be interested in this great deal," "can you please rethink your decision." Still signed me up even though I said I wasn't interested about 10 times. Outside of that, the whole process was seamless, with signing up and getting my number ported.

With the data service, while I'm in LTE, the speeds are more than acceptable but once I fall into 3G, the speed slows to a halt. With Sprint, I fall into 3G far far more often than with Verizon. I live in the large populated area of Tidewater (Virginia Beach/Norfolk/Hampton/Chesapeake/Suffolk), Virginia and with Verizon, I stay in 4G/LTE throughout the region. Only if I travel well outside the region (50+ miles) will I hit 3G. With Sprint, the moment I'm outside the major populated areas, the outskirts of the region, I fall into 3G. I'll be moving to Austin, Texas in 3 months so my opinion could change if coverage is more vast there.

Final opinion, it's free, so I'm way more lenient with having poorer data service. Overall, I would rate Sprint as adequate.

Correct.
Just click on Activate and it will ask you which device you want to swap off and what you want to replace it with.
Note it often does not work right off in which case it will connect you to tech. support online chat to help you complete it, which is fine.
I am getting a new phone. Could someone please confirm that the Activate/Swap Device option on Sprint web site Dashboard is safe to use with this free BYOD service? It won't mess up my service and turn it into a paid one, right? Or do I have to call and chat to be safe?

I have swapped multiple times but i had to call them in and one time had to go to the store for swap. The online swap wasn't working for me.
And I am on Free plan as well

Yes it is safe to use on this plan and as uknowsana notes, if it does not work for you can just have tech. support do it for you (I use tech. support chat).

Online device activation/swap is safe, but usually it gives errors so you'll most likely have to chat with them -- make sure you get the correct SIM that's compatible with the new phone

Same experience here...could never get the online activation to work so both times I ended up in a chat session or on the phone to complete the device swap. You can try the online swap, but if it fails there will be an option to start a chat session (assuming you're within normal business hours for chat support).

uknowsana/Comintel/Jatan - thank you all for chiming in. I guess I will just do it through tech support chat, since that seems to be required anyway.

Usually so although some people have got it to work and posted logs of it working successfully entirely automated. I suspect Sprint is testing it intermittently or something.
