Quote from ymarker :
Any chance this promo will stick around till June 2018? I am paid on my mint sim till then.

Quote from comintel :
There is always a chance, but it is doubtful in my opinion because the promo started in June 2017.

If they let it stay open to June 2018 there are going to be a zillion people trying to roll over their free plan one way and another.

There may be a hint in the announced last date of free service for new subscribers (which will be April 30 2019) that the plan will close out to new subscribers by April 30 2018 (but could even be earlier, even in March),

Also they are starting to announce other new promos in some areas which could be another hint. (eg https://www.fiercewireless.com/wi...-6-markets)
As Comintel explained above you'll most likely lose on this deal if you wait until June. Listen carefully to all the points he makes.
The prudent thing to do, IF you really want this Sprint offer, is to get on the Sprint plan asap, NOW, or the latest by the end of April and just lose the month of May you've paid with Mint Sim. It's worth it!

OR just get a prepaid Sim with T-Mobile for $10 and when you activate it you'll get a new phone #:

https://prepaid-phones.t-mobile.com/prepaid-phone/t-mobile-prepaid-3-in-1-sim-starter-kit?icid=WMD_P... [t-mobile.com]

It is NOT necessary to add any funds in the T-Mo prepaid account. Do NOT wait long to do the port to Sprint, do it the same day if you can.
All you need is the account # which will be the assigned prepaid phone # but you MUST add an 1 in front of it, 12345678900 for instance, and a pin that you'll create when you set up the T-Mobile prepaid account, it can be more than 4 digits. The name and address on the account do not matter. When the Sprint rep asks for them just give your current info.
Then you can call in, 1-866-782-8777, to get the Sprint Free 1 Year offer since you have a new phone # to port in, AND you have a compatible device (I assume you do), and all you need is a new Sprint Sim SPECIFIC for your device. If your compatible device is an iPhone you can get a FREE Sprint Sim at any Apple Store. If it's an Android phone you should get the Sprint SPECIFIC for your device Sim from Sprint, from a store or have it sent to you when you enroll with Sprint. It's best to have the Sim before you call though and maybe you can get it at a Sprint store or Best Buy, etc.

This is a Sprint Sim parts list for various Sprint CDMA devices:

https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/ar...r-SIM-Card

Find your device and get the appropriate Sim part #.

Similarly, as with the T-Mobile prepaid $10 Sim, you can do this with the AT&T prepaid Sim and this one is FREE:

https://www.att.com/cellphones/pr...sku7420309

In either case you STILL KEEP your Mintsim account/plan/phone #, as you can change Sims in your device for either the Sprint CDMA service with the new ported in phone #, OR the Mintsim/T-Mo service with your existing phone #, (BUT you must re-provision your device to the appropriate system every time you do this).
NEAR when your Mintsim plan expires just port in your existing Mintsim # to the Sprint account to replace the other #.
OR, IF you have another Sprint compatible device and Sim card, you can get a 2nd free line in your Sprint account by porting in your Mintsim #. To get a 2nd free line it MUST be done before the Sprint free offer expires (BUT READ POST # 16265 on this).

BUT do NOT wait until the bitter end to do this, do it ASAP!

Sprint MAY extend this free offer until May 31st to get a full year's data on the offer and see how many subscribers have stayed with the company and how many abandoned it, but then again, it MAY NOT.
Even if Sprint extends this free offer to May 31st, it'll probably be the last extension as after one year of the free offer it should know whether or not this offer was worth it and brought in new subscribers to the regular plans, or it was a failure with most people leaving.

In any case, by April 30 2019 there are bound to be less expensive offers available from all cell providers and their MVNOs, especially with the new 5G system getting online.

Keep in mind that once the new 5G system is well under way, a few years from now, all existing 4G cell devices will be obsolete as they will NOT be compatible with the new 5G system.

Those individuals whose free year is almost up in the next few months are probably going thru the motions now to get in on the April 30, 2019 expiration.

Those who are getting it now have at least a year to decide and as I said above a year in the cell business is a long time and cheaper services are bound to be available then, at which time decisions will be made.

Perhaps, Sprint may offer a $20/line/mo all unlimited or something close to it by then, OR it may have been merged with another company, perhaps Carlos Slim's America Movil or one of its subsidiary MVNOs???

Yeah, my year will be up in June I think. Can we order a new eligible phone with the same account/number and get in on this deal again? Not sure where to find the T&Cs of the April 30, 2019 expiration promo.

You activate your account online.
When you first do it, it tells you that your pin is the last 4 digits of your phone # and it forces you to change it.
So, your account # is your phone #, maybe with a 1 in front of it and your pin is the one you changed it to.
The minimum you may put in the account is $10 and it's good for 30 days, but you should not have to do that since the account is active but with zero balance.

https://www.att.com/prepaid/

Go to:

Already an AT&T PREPAID (formerly GoPhone) customer?
Log in to manage your account

and change your pin.

The $30 you saw must be for another plan, not the prepaid 25 cents/min prepaid plan.

In the worst case scenario getting a new phone # to port in to the Sprint Free 1 Year Plan will cost $10 either with T-Mobile or with AT&T prepaids.
The good thing in using those two providers is that when you do the port with Sprint it takes only minutes to complete, at the very most about 15 mins but it can take longer.
If you port a phone # from Google Voice or Freedompop or H2O, etc., it can take days.

"Can we order a new eligible phone with the same account/number and get in on this deal again?"
NO!
This offer REQUIRES to be a NEW customer, with a NEW Social Security #, OR a SS# that has not had an account with Sprint for at LEAST 45 days.
In other words, if you want to get this offer now, you must port out your number(s) and close your current account with Sprint NOW, wait 45 days and then apply again before 4/30/2018, unless this offer is again extended and that's not at all likely. AGAIN, you MUST make sure that your Sprint account is COMPLETELY CLOSED and done with NOW. CALL Sprint customer service to make sure that this is done after you do the port out.
Of course, this offer may end at ANY TIME, even before April 30th, in which case you're out of luck.

UNLESS, of course, you can use the SS# of a family member who hasn't had a Sprint account for at least 45 days to open a new account NOW under this offer in order to beat the 4/30/2018 expiration deadline or the offer may end at ANY TIME possibility.

Just follow the posts of many who have done this here in the past month or two.
Posts by Comintel here have very clear and helpful explanations.

Hi, I have opened an account a week back to get this offer with 1 line.

I have another number that is currently on MintSim and has about 3 more months of mileage. Can I add the line after MintSim expires to get the offer or do I need to add it to the account before the deal expires? TIA

I took advantage of this one year deal in July of 2017. It's now March of 2018 and I've switched back to my previous carrier. I was paying $12.44 / month for four lines of unlimited talk, text and data and now I'm paying $140 / month. Perhaps mine is a unique experience or perhaps the area I live in (the Tampa, FL area) simply has poorer service than most, but I was happy to switch back and do away with the slow download speeds and stuttery / dropped calls. For those going for this deal not I hope it works better for you than it did for me.

Read my post #16249 above and the few posts following it, 16257/9.

"To get a 2nd free line it MUST be done BEFORE the Sprint free offer expires."

Signed up last night on the phone because the credit check didn't go through online (FICO 800+)..

I was on the phone with a very nice person on the phone for 1 hours.. Everything worked out in the end.. ported over from Cricket w a Verizon iphone 6s...

Sprint is spotty and slow.. but free is free.. I hit 1.87 MBPS with Sprint.. Same phone its 60+ with verizon and similar with ATT.. oh well. Smilie

The operator said I could get 4 more lines free.. wow!

TIP.. have your Cricket account number and PIN ready.. I set my PIN on cricket.com, while on the call with Sprint.
