I didn't want to repeat all the information to another rep and possibly hear the same thing - we need you to take insurance to provide free service account..
understandable.

i would have ..based on principle...hung up called back...the rep was shady in requiring insurance...and i would not want them to benefit from me...in any way...

The links mention if the phone was purchased from Sprint, it will get relocked even though it was unlocked properly. Is that true?
Yes, but you can request to unlock it again if necessary after 50 days activated with Sprint.

I got a free sim using twigby.. applied code 'WOUTFREESIM'

I called today to activate the service.. How easy it is to get them to reverse insurance charges? They were not ready to proceed/activate my service without saying yes for insurance!!! Crazy..!!
Chat with regular online CS to remove it -- you can try removing it from your online account (not sure if its possible)

the damn 911 tax in my city is too much. I have to pay $20 total: taxes and fees. It is still better than $150 with TMobile.

I would make sure there's no device protection plan in charges that are as high as $20. If there is, use Billing Chat to cancel it.. If not, my sympathies on the 911 tax,

How long does your phone have to be away from sprint to before you can get this deal?
I tried looking at this MASSIVE thread, but didn't see this answered.

That is, if I am on Sprint now, and the phone is unlocked and paid for, can I port it to the wife's Verizon Wireless account then wait for a month or so, then port all numbers under her account at Verizon back to Sprint, on a new unlimited free for a year plan? Note: she would be a completely new customer, does not have an account at Sprint, hasn't been on Sprint for 10+ years.

Or, how long does the Sprint number and phone have to be off of Sprint's network, before I can have the wife complete this deal?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for a good cheap phone which would work on the promo and be perfect for a hot spot device. I would hate to buy a phone off of eBay and only find out they won't accept it.

No delay is required. (It needs to be and is instantaneous because sometimes customers need to reactivate immediately).

You can add both number and phone on again with another port-in to a new plan under a different SSN immediately. Use the same sim too.

But check with Verizon how soon they allow you to port out a number that you just ported in. If they have a minimum period and charge, you could use somebofy else for the temporary stay away from Sprint.

I looked but didn't see anything about it working in a LTE iPad? Though I see iPad in the wiki now?

Sprint originally listed iPads but they were never actually compatible with the free phone plan -- they removed them long time ago

Original SD post is old and hasn't been updated, but wiki is recent (just missing Galaxy S9) -- current list on bottom: www.sprint.com/1yearfree
