I will do it in April ...thus only 3months will be lost.... But it's risky if they stop offer on 30mar
By April I assume you mean towards the end of the month. If you think there's a reasonable chance of the offer ending March 30, you should do it now. Waiting until the end of April doesnt get you more months, if you sign up now or in a month, the end date for free service is still 4/30/2019. The only way it works out for you is if you wait until really close to the end of the offer and Sprint renews the deal with a new end date of 5/30/19 or 6/30/19 and then you can wait another month or two.

So means effectively we are getting just 9 more months free....considering current spouse no is valid till 31-jul..

So 8/1/2018 to 4/30/2019.,. As u said end date is fixed..I earlier thought it is minimum 12months from activation

porting from MintSim and they are asking for SSN. Mintsim never has my SSN. Do I tell them that we tell them to leave it blank while porting?

Don't wait until April, do it now. I just did it a few weeks ago and according to Sprint we are good through April 30th of next year.

Not only your SSN but also they'll do hard pull of your credit report which may affect your FICO score.

Sorry, I mean when porting my number over, they are asking for account and pin from MintSim, but also SSN.

Since MintSim is a prepaid, they never had my SSN. So I assumed just tell them to leave it blank while porting.

Yes that should be fine. Both AT&T and Sprint needlessly ask for your SSN when porting in just in case the losing carrier ends up asking for it. It used to be needed as the standard "PIN" many years ago. and some carriers may still want it.

This is, as you note, separate and apart from its use for credit approval.

Sprint is probably trying to see what the customer retention rate is. If the # of free subscribers is high even a low % retention rate, say around 10%, can be profitable in the long term.
Not absolutely sure, but I think Sprint has attracted over 250K free subscribers for this offer.
Sprint MAY extend this free offer until May 31st to get a full year's data on the offer and see how many subscribers have stayed with the company and how many abandoned it, but then again, it MAY NOT.
Even if Sprint extends this free offer to May 31st, it'll probably be the last extension as after one year of the free offer it should know whether or not this offer was worth it and brought in new permanent paying subscribers to the regular plans, or it was a failure with most people leaving.

In any case, by April 30 2019 there are bound to be less expensive offers available from all cell providers and their MVNOs, especially with the new 5G system getting online.

Keep in mind that once the new 5G system is well under way, a few years from now, all existing 4G cell devices will be obsolete as they will NOT be compatible with the new 5G system.

Well, I have to correct myself.

According to a thread on S4GRU, it is possible to get Sprint Visual Voicemail "sort of" working on the "unlocked" version.

Try downloading

See http://s4gru.com/forums/topic/780...ad/?page=8

A poster said he got Calling Plus working as well.

However, looking at the Sprint eligibility list, it says:

Google Nexus 5 (16 & 32 GB – black/white/red) (Verizon only)

Were you aware of that? I am not saying they are justified in taking that position but it appears they have taken it. I guess you are saying there is no reason to limit it like that.
