What's the process of swapping a device on this plan? I can't seem to do it online - MEID gets rejected.

It should show you a link to tech. support chat for assistance with the swap when it fails.

To be swapped in, the device does need to be eligible, by the same criteria as it would to be activated as an added line in the first place, contrary to some people's assumption (this is not like Verizon where practically anything can be swapped in). But the support rep. can check that for you.

You'll have to find out why.
If it was on a Sprint mvno, you will have to get it pushed back to Postpaid.(LiterallyUnlimited).
Test on Ting at https://ting.com/byod
Maybe run the GSX report - 99 cents on EBay.

Means nothing. All of their messages are vague, misworded, misleading.

It's a sprint phone with clear ESN so its not the issue. They are basically saying it needs to be a "Verizon" phone in order to be compatible / eligible with the plan.

They know nothing. They are sales droids who guess at all technical questions by trying to interpret the Sprint web page wording.

All free and clear Sprint postpaid phones can be activated.

Was it on an mvno? Probably yes, and if so you will have to get LiterallyUnlimited to push it back to postpaid. Search on LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for details. Then it will activate fine.

"Clear ESN" is not that simple on Sprint. There are various types of locks and third party checkers often fail to show them.

who is saying that ? I thought you said you were trying to swap this for a phone already on the free plan.

How have you established it has a clear esn ? It has to pass this esn checker. Click on "Get Started"

Good tip!
I could tell just from what he quoted them as saying that he had been talking to Telesales as well. They often say that (falsely). (Or could have been an ill-informed technician but less likely).
People naively (butt understandably) think Sprint Sales is a good source of advice.

It will say that also if it needs the mvno flag to be cleared (the error message that the Sprint person sees is poorly worded).
So if I were you I would check if that is not the real problem because if so, it can be cleared by LiterallyUnlimited.. He can check.
I suspect it may be.
Swappa's check is worthless because they do not check properly for Sprint.
