Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I would like to do this promo but the comments and faqs make this seem like you have to jump through a ton of hoops and aggravation. Also does sprint have wifi calling?

It's actually incredibly easy if you just have one line and you already have an eligible phone and a number to port in. You can do the whole thing online very easily. The problems arise when you need to talk to Sprint CSRs to add additional lines or get them to fix something that got messed up.

You can have a total of 5.
Thanks! Do you know if they all have to be added/activated at the same time - or can I do 1 online, then call to add 2 more, then later add 2 more again?

Don't need to do it at the same time. 1 today, 1 tomorrow, 2 in a couple of days is ok.

it's about as tricky as making French toast. Actually making French toast is a 1000 times more difficult.

and yes Sprint has wifi calling.

Can i walk into a store to get this done?

I couldn't do it online since it failed at credit check. I called them up and spent about 30 mins on call. The CSR just kept putting me on hold every 2 mins.

Not in a store. It is "click or call" only (although a few people are asked to go to a store to prove their identity only).

The wiki is messy. Well intentioned but just messy.

You need a Sprint compatible phone that is preferably coming from a postpaid account. Or a factory unlocked Moto e4, g4 ( if you want to go cheaply).
If you're an iPhonian almost any will do (except those with Intel chips) from iPhone 5s forward.
The phone needs to be paid off and unlocked.
Call the number in this thread only. Give them your old carrier account number and pin.
Presto taadaa free 1 year

This is most important for newcomers to the deal. It has been repeated about a thousand times. If you call the main Sprint number or go into a store for anything other than ID verification you will jeopordize the BYOD free account

Is it possible to get the iPhone X for $20/month on a new paid line then move the phone and payment plan over to a free line?
No. Best you can do is bring a paid and unlocked version to the BYOD.
Remember you must port in from a competitor

Used different SSN. Ported number to t-mobile prepaid sim bought from eBay with 0 balance. Next day ported back to sprint by opening new BYOD account with different SSN. The rep added insurance plan in spite of me refusing it, she said she will need to add it in order to give me BYOD plan and that I could remove it later. Called back the same telesales number 1 hour after all was set up and asked the rep to remove insurance plan. Surprisingly the rep couldn't remove it himself, and it took him almost 30 mins of fiddling to remove it. After I hung up I got some chat transcripts on my email , it seemed the telesales phone rep was trying to do online chat from my account to get the insurance removed, lol.

Checked my account, and i am on BYOD plan with no insurance. No issues here, as long as i am on my second free BYOD year!
Did you use the same SIM cards when you ported back in?

There is no reason not to. Always use the same sim card. I always do. Sprint sim cards can always stay with the phone as it moves around among Sprint affilates and never expire or need to be replaced as most other carriers' do. They can always be reused (but need to be a match for the sim card part required for any given model.)

Looking to buy a used moto e4 phone from ebay for this promotion. If I find a phone that passes both ting byod [ting.com] & sprint byod [sprint.com] should I be good or could the phone still be locked to the previous network and be disallowed?

one other thing. one of the phones is reported from ting to be a moto z but that doesn't make sense as the seller provided me a picture of the MEID from the box where I can clearly see the model number. thoughts?
