Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Looking to buy a used moto e4 phone from ebay for this promotion. If I find a phone that passes both ting byod [ting.com] & sprint byod [sprint.com] should I be good or could the phone still be locked to the previous network and be disallowed?

one other thing. one of the phones is reported from ting to be a moto z but that doesn't make sense as the seller provided me a picture of the MEID from the box where I can clearly see the model number. thoughts?
It has to pass the Sprint BYOD.

Ting or Tello has no value towards this promotion except if your device fails Sprint BYOD but passes Tello, your mvno flag needs to be flipped, most likely.

Personally I would check it on Tello instead of Ting so you don't have the confusion of gsm devices since Ting uses both Sprint cdma and gsm.

Search LiterallyUnlimited in this thread and send him your MEID on Reddit BUT I would suggest posting your full details here to first so we can see if that is the problem.

Semifast posted an excellent summary but there are some other factors too, such as this will not work for quite a few Sprint Prepaid phones, that may also pass Tello/Ting but not activate on Sprint Postpaid so I would prefer not to email LiterallyUnlimited in cases that do not apply.

As to network locks, the sprint and other BYOD checkers do NOT check the sim locked(network locked) status of a phone. For iPhones you can check/buy apple gsx report to check sim locked status.

I just signed up with this BYOD plan. I was previously on the Sprint Sero plan, but his should apply to anyone that currently has sprint service and an iphone. I stopped by the Apple store and asked one of the employees there for a t-mobile sim (I want to get on my brother's family plan, can I have a t-mobile sim). They brought one out from the back and gave it to me no charge or hassle.

I called the number on the sim card and followed to prompts to activate a new sim, prepaid service. There's a great summary in the wiki, ref that if you need exact steps. I told the T-mobile rep that I wanted to port my phone number from sprint to a prepaid plan. I gave him my name, account number, sprint pin. They ported it over while I was on the phone with them. Total time = 10 min.

I then had my wife call the BYOD number to port over from tmo to sprint. Failed because she failed the credit check over the phone - she forgot a street that she used to live on. smh

I then had her sister call in later to do the port - total time on phone approx 35-40 min. Have your imei number ready, sim number, ssn, address, email, tmo pin, tmo account number, cc #, etc ready. This time it went through, and they said it would take 30min to 1 hr to activate. 1 hr later, lte but no phone service even after 2 hrs. Follow up phone call with sprint got moved over to tech support.

They had me dial ##873283# 2 min later, the phone activation update is complete and I now have phone and lte service working. Hopefully there will be a new promo a year from now, if not, I'll just pay for the service and be happy that I had a year for free service.

thanks to all that came before me and posted in the wiki, you helped me tremendously. (I probably wouldn't have had to wait the whole 2 hours, if I had read the wiki, but in my defense, it is a long wiki...) I didn't do the port myself as I still have other lines that I hadn't moved over yet. I'll now do the other lines since I can do 5 lines under the one account name/ssn #

For anyone that has an iphone and is looking to do this, I would stop by the Apple store and just ask them for a sprint or t-mobile sim. For me it was easy since there's two Apple stores within 5 miles of me. If you get turned down, you can always try someone else or another day/time/store. I went this route since I didn't want to pay for the sim card or wait for it to get shipped to me, aka instant gratification.

Can i walk into a store to get this done?

I couldn't do it online since it failed at credit check. I called them up and spent about 30 mins on call. They CSR just kept putting me on hold every 2 mins.

Not in a store. It is "click or call" only (although a few people are asked to go to a store to prove their identity only).
Thanks. Can i use this offer to port out from Lyca mobile? As told before, when i submit the online form with IMEI and mobile number, it does say i'm eligible.

Did you fail because you missed the ID questions, or because you actually have a credit score too low?

If the latter, I assume there's no remedy.

It was pretty confusing though, I failed the Id questions at first, and I'm pretty sure they're not even allowed to tell you WHY you were declined. It's just in my case I knew for a fact I had good credit so that couldn't be it, and that I'd stumbled over a couple of the ID questions.

Yes, although in the case of Lyca I suggest call Lyca support and get the port-out details exactly (account number and pin) because they are not obvious and Lyca will not approve the port out unless what they are given by Sprint matches exactly.

The whole process on the phone with Sprint can take over an hour but you can do it in the evening and/or on the weekend.

I have an excellent credit. I have been approved by Sprint in the past. So i don't think that's a problem. And i never really got to the part where i had to answer the ID questions. Its just that the whole process took a lot of time and i was put on hold for long. I just lost the patience and felt i wasn't worth the pain.

I guess i just need to try again and be ready to wait. Sounds like it is worth it.

Thanks. I guess i'm spending a lot of time on the phone tomorrow. I called them from work the last time assuming it wouldn't take more than 15 mins. I was clearly wrong.

I agree it is absolutely ridiculous how long it can take. Some people do manage to get through it quickly. I am getting faster at it with practice!

To close an existing Sprint account, is it sufficient to port away all lines on it? The purpose is to re-apply in 46 days.

Yes. That's how I did it. Remaining balance was instantly debited from my auto pay CC.
Just my opinion but if you have someone else's SS number to re sign up I would do that. You can Port the same phone numbers back into the new BYOD account even though they are not in the account holder's name

Yes it will/would be really tight to do it now by 45 days before May 31. You would need to get right on it and count the days. Possible, but only barely. Of course they could use a later (or even earlier) cutoff date.

They might show some mercy right at the end. I would like to hope they would.

I am guessing that overall your odds would be good if you can do it immediately and there is no other SSN you can use.
