Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I have an unlocked moto E4 on a free plan that expires 7/31. I want to cancel my account, free up the phone, and open a new account under a different social by 4/30 in case the Sprint gravy train finally ends. What's the quickest way to cancel the account so my phone is freed up immediately??

I'm worried it will take too long if I try to port-out and I'm okay with losing my current number since I use google voice anyways. Is there any delay after canceling a line until the phone is freed up to be activated again and can it be done the same day?

Also, did everyone's bill go up this month or just me?? Noticed they jacked up the "Administrative Charge" from $1.99 to $2.50 starting this month. Pretty sneaky considering when I signed up for a year the terms clearly stated $1.99 and now it's changed on the website.
no, don't cancel, just port out to a major carrier like Tmobile or similar. Matter of fact I just did it a few hour ago. I ported out my numbers to Tmobile pre-paid which was almost instantaneous and a few minutes later my numbers ported out and my lines on the Sprint web page disappeared.

I had waited couple hours before calling the Sprint phone number on the first post to bring my numbers back in. And after the process got completed within 10 minutes my numbers ported back in on a new Sprint account. same phones and same SIM cards.

according to the administrative charge, yes mine went up a month ago so I've been paying little more for per line but increase is hardly debatable considering the savings I have had so far

Port-out is much faster than any other way. Other ways will take MUCH longer. If you want it fast, do it to a major carrier which is instant.

But the first account does not need to be closed anyway. You could swap the phone off and port it in to the new account immediately.

The admin. charge increase topic has been beaten to death..
I only have one sprint eligible phone, that's why I need to cancel and free it up first. I suppose I could use a fake placeholder IMEI to active but would rather not deal with the hassle of switching it out later. I don't need to keep the number so don't wanna spend money just to port-out. I have H2O and republic wireless sims I could use to port. Any feedback if those would to through fast enough to activate again the same day or are there any free major carrier solutions?

Haven't kept up with this behemoth thread lately to be up to speed on the price increase lol.

H2O has multi-day lags/holds/conditions on a new account. Republic Wireless is VOIP numbers and would not be good imho. There is nothing that is free and fast.

I got the Tmobile SIM cards from Apple store for free and didn't have to add in any credit to the pay as you go account at Tmobile. So it did not cost me anything

It was also the quickest way compared to other ways. I do have H2O sims but porting out from H2O is painful. You have to have credit loaded for each line and you have to make at least 3 calls/text and wait 5 days to be able to get your account number from H2O.

Actually if you can force the phone off by swap you can shortcut this.

You can buy a "TMo number for port" on EBay for $5 and use that.

Well, now that Tmobile looks to be officially merging with Sprint and changing Sprint's name to Tmobile, we'll see if they ax the deal. I also wonder how this CDMA/GSM thing will work. Will Tmobile continue Sprint's CDMA network or force a switch to GSM?
Sprint's CDMA system will be abandoned and the new company will be all GSM.
So get rid of all the Sprint CDMA devices asap! 5G is the future and implementation will start within a year or so.

Actually both GSM and CDMA are obsolete and being phased out anyway. So that is just legacy support either way based on pragmatism and supporting old phones customers have to the extent possible. TMO has been thinning out its GSM support a lot anayway and converting spectrum to LTE already. Quite a few people with old phones have had to switch from TMobile to AT&T already.

Future is all LTE including VoLTE. Already Verizon's own network has no CDMA or GSM in Alaska - only LTE (they may have additional roaming for some customers).

When I ported with H20 last year it went through pretty fast and was free other than the few cents I bought the sim for on amazon. I was only porting out to cancel an account and didn't need the number.

Thanks for the tip, I'll try to swing by the apple store tomorrow and hopefullly it'll be enough time. So you can just call t-mobile to port-in for free and what's the process/cost to port-out again?

That's actually a good idea, thanks. I can use a placeholder IMEI to swap out my existing phone with the added benefit it's not cancelling my account so in case things go haywire I'll still have it as back-up. So I can swap phones on my sprint account for free online or do I need to call them?

You can start it on your dashboard by starting with the line you wish to swap, then
Manage Devices
More Options
Add a Device

It will usually fail and link you to Chat for help in completing.
I guess it will need an iccid number as well. You could use the existing sim iccid if the imei you are swapping in is compatible with that sim(it may well not be if it s a different model phone) BUT then that would tie up that sim so it is better to come up with another sim ICCID.

You can just chat or call if you prefer. Do not call TeleSales re this though.

Found the tab under my account for device swaps. Entered a dummy IMEI from a moto g4 play which checked out, unfortunately like you said it also required an ICCID number. Tried the one from my existing E4 but no go. Don't have a spare sprint sim card and don't feel like spending $10 to get one so don't think it's gonna work out. Will try to hit up the apple store tomorrow for a t-mobile sim to port-out.

Any recommendations for a quick/cheap way to get t-mobile sim for android phone to port out & back in? Are they just $10 in t-mobile store? T-mobile website shows $25 less $15 credit for buying online, so I wasn't sure if store had similar pricing. Would order online, but I figured I should try to get this done today with the merger announcement.
