Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

thanks.. i have placed the order.. i hope i get it today before business hours close for them..

do you know if those numbers have any expiry?
Quote from comintel :
That department closes after some hour but it is very late in the evening or early morning our time.

I have called at times when it was closed.

The Sprint Free 1 Year Offer Department is open until 10 pm eastern time. Or it may be 11 pm but do it before 10 pm ET. I think it opens at 7 am or 8 am ET.
This Sprint dept is located in the Philippines so they are about a dozen hours ahead of ET.

one thing the account number is 1+phone number... really?
Remember to say the (6 digit) pin is a port pin (not an account pin)

Which plan are you picking for the AT&T prepaid sims for $10? Just the $0.25/per minute plan?
Quote from Duffman814 :
I called the 2 stores around me and both wanted $25. Anyone have any other suggestions for a cheap option (doesn't need to be T-mobile) I could do today?
I've used the 25 cents/min plan but that was a couple of months ago. It should work today though.

But from the posts above in the last few pages here you may want to try the Ebay T-Mobile phone # route for $4.95, and that way you don't have to worry about funding the account. This works only for using the # to port in to Sprint.
BUT that wont work to port out & back in which is what you want to do. You need the real Sim and its phone # for that.

Quote from infinityangel :
I had the same problem when I went to get the $3 plan. You have to make sure they understand it's for the pay as you go plan as that is a totally different only $10 for that sim card. the $25 sim card is for the other plans.
I've also used T-Mobile and one store sold me the $10 PREPAID sim with the tel # and with the $3/mo included and it was valid for 3 months, so it was like getting the Sim and the phone # for free.
Another store wanted $25 for it, so there is some confusion in some stores OR maybe T-Mobile has changed things lately.

Also, it should be possible at the T-Mo store to do the port in from Sprint directly to the new prepaid T-Mo Sim so that you don't really need a new T-Mo phone #.

i thought port pin is the pin used for account number only... it had been that way for me in sprint or in metropcs earlier... and even tello or twigy or h2o etc. Smilie

how can i tell a different SSN if asked when my SSN will be used to open sprint account..
what does this mean..
"If SSN # is requested: Use last 4 of pin #"

I believe a lot of Sprint phones are actually capable of working with gsm and cdma, and therefore could be the best devices for using both legacy networks.

Interesting to see how it plays out.
You're right, a lot of Sprint phones, especially the late models will work on both GSM and CDMA, but there are a lot of Sprint and its MVNOs phones out there that are only CDMA.

However, keep in mind that none of the present devices will be compatible with the new upcoming 5G cell technology that'll be introduced in about a year and will probably take a couple of years after that to be fully implemented.

Well whatever, just if they have problems you are aware there are two types of pin. I called it a porting pin. It is not the account service pin which can also be used for porting.

To open your Sprint account, you give them your own SSN.

If they later on ask (they usually do not) for the SSN field for the port, do as the instructions say. SSN is a field on the standard port form that some carriers put other things in for port purposes. It is largely obsolete. TMobile does not use it. I think AT&T or Verizon may. It used to be the actual SSN years ago. I have had Sprint ask me for it once.

thanks for details...

that will have contradictions... because once sprint starts new account creation... "they ask usually if i am owner of number i am porting in... here i would say yes.....
then if later the agent asks me ssn for porting number and i says some different one then agent may get alerted..." or "if agent does not ask me and simply assumes its my ssns then porting will fail probably.."

do you know if either of this can happen?

No there is no contradiction.

The second "SSN" is not SSN at all. It is just a field in the standardized port request form called SSN for historical reasons that became a form of pin. He won't ask anyway because they know TMobile prepaid does not require that field.

no, it shouldn't happen. Sprint will ask:
Name: your name
Address: your address
Phone Number:xxx-xxx-xxxx
Acct number:1xxx-xxx-xxxx
pin: 6 digit
provider: Just say t-mobile

Should say tmobile prepaid in my opinion. TMobile will probably work too because they will look up the number and you can say anything really..

It does not matter in the end much because they look it up anyway but I have had discussions with agents and they have told me they they do different validity checks up-front depending on whether the person says it is TMobile or TMobile Prepaid and may tell the customer to check if the account number is wrong for what they say. In fact several people have posted just that, that they were turned down and told to check with TMobile over this issue of TMobile versus TMobile Prepaid. One posted that Sprint insisted on a conference call with TMobile to resolve the apparent contradiction.

In my own case the first time they turned me down because I gave the wrong answer when they asked if the pin was the one I used to call in to TMobile customer service. Since it was 6 digits for TMobile Prepaid, they knew the answer should be NO but I said YES. It would have worked if they just submitted it but they were pre-screening to see if it all added up.

They are just trying to help users who seem likely to be confused and avoid failed ports. If you are super confident they may just let it go and assume what you are sayng is correct and go ahead and submit it and let the computers deal with it.

Did you fail because you missed the ID questions, or because you actually have a credit score too low?

If the latter, I assume there's no remedy.

It was pretty confusing though, I failed the Id questions at first, and I'm pretty sure they're not even allowed to tell you WHY you were declined. It's just in my case I knew for a fact I had good credit so that couldn't be it, and that I'd stumbled over a couple of the ID questions.
How did you get around this? I just got declined because of the questions. I froze all my credit about a year ago, forgot, so I got error online, called, told me to unfreeze and call back. Did that. When I called back they asked me some more verification questions, although I had already answered some to unfreeze. I got declined, I know why, got a question wrong about a street I used to live in. Rep told me I could reapply in 60 days and offered no alternative.
