Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Samsung S8 (any carrier branded version easiest) or S9 (Sprint branded version only or "unlocked" with bypass) are two and there are others. However it is BETA LTE Calling which means you could get poor quality calls in some areas until full VoLTE is launched later this year (hopefully in a couple of months).

Sprint will be densifying coverage with the help of TMobile roaming which will be in effect shortly (not requiring the merger to be approved) and this is a prereq. to full VoLTE and best performance
I bought a S9 unlocked directly from samsung. I can't make call and surf the net at the same time. Any idea how to get it working? Thanks

Yes.
The unbranded version does not expose these Sprint beta capabilities.

But you can get to them using a few tricks as described at
http://s4gru.com/forums/topic/780...ent-526415

or you can flash to the Sprint branded version.

They even got Visual Voicemail working on the unbranded version as well.

I just signed up with this BYOD plan. I was previously on the Sprint Sero plan, but his should apply to anyone that currently has sprint service and an iphone. I stopped by the Apple store and asked one of the employees there for a t-mobile sim (I want to get on my brother's family plan, can I have a t-mobile sim). They brought one out from the back and gave it to me no charge or hassle.

I called the number on the sim card and followed to prompts to activate a new sim, prepaid service. There's a great summary in the wiki, ref that if you need exact steps. I told the T-mobile rep that I wanted to port my phone number from sprint to a prepaid plan. I gave him my name, account number, sprint pin. They ported it over while I was on the phone with them. Total time = 10 min.

I then had my wife call the BYOD number to port over from tmo to sprint. Failed because she failed the credit check over the phone - she forgot a street that she used to live on. smh

I then had her sister call in later to do the port - total time on phone approx 35-40 min. Have your imei number ready, sim number, ssn, address, email, tmo pin, tmo account number, cc #, etc ready. This time it went through, and they said it would take 30min to 1 hr to activate. 1 hr later, lte but no phone service even after 2 hrs. Follow up phone call with sprint got moved over to tech support.

They had me dial ##873283# 2 min later, the phone activation update is complete and I now have phone and lte service working. Hopefully there will be a new promo a year from now, if not, I'll just pay for the service and be happy that I had a year for free service.

thanks to all that came before me and posted in the wiki, you helped me tremendously. (I probably wouldn't have had to wait the whole 2 hours, if I had read the wiki, but in my defense, it is a long wiki...) I didn't do the port myself as I still have other lines that I hadn't moved over yet. I'll now do the other lines since I can do 5 lines under the one account name/ssn #
Thanks for nice post one question.. dont you need new sim from sprint.. for porting back in ? how did you order those

Timeline in getting my son's essential PH-1 re-unlocked.

4/26 Thu. 2PM (PST) Signed up BYOD with a previously unlocked Essential PH-1 which got re-locked.

4/27 Fri. 4PM Called 888-211-4727.
Select 1, Select option 5, Select option 5 again, Select option 2.
Talked to the customer service rep about what happened. She checked the history of the phone and said she would submit the request to re-unlock the Essential. Did not talk to the Unlock Dept., only the rep. She said it would take 24-48 hours.

5/1 Tue. 4PM The essential got re-unlocked.
I'm in the same boat.
I also called late Friday (4/27) to get my daughters iPhone unlocked.
As of today (5/1) I still haven't received any notification that the device is unlocked.
How did you verify that the phone is indeed unlocked?
What type of notification did you get?
Thanks!

Always reuse existing sims. Sprint sims are always reusable (in the same model of phone) and never expire.

To do so, you will have to call in to 866-782-8777 and not attempt to use the web signup (because the web signup forces a sim order).

I did not get any advance notification. The notification ( that your phone is unlocked) usually comes a few hours or days or a week or two later (after the fact) to the email you give them. Apparently it can be different from the default email in your account.

They will ask for your email and if you want, you can ask for the case number for unlocking. None of this is essential because the unlocking notification comes way too late.

If your phone is still not unlocked after 48 hours, you can call 888-211-4727 and give them the case number (or phone number) to check the status.

The only way to make sure your phone is unlocked is to keep checking the status of UICC Unlock. In Oreo 8.1, press Settings/System/About Phone/OMADM updates/UICC Unlock.

If you see "Your device has been unlocked to support any inserted UICC", your phone is unlocked. To make sure the phone is truly unlocked, insert another carrier's SIM (UICC) and make a call.

It depends. You can run into issues in some situations because Sprint sims will be attached to a specific IMEI/device. Sprint has a feature to let you use an existing sim with a different device, but it doesn't always work. My friend and I both had run into this issue where data just wouldn't work with re-used sim (call and text worked fine). But, as soon as we bought a new sim, it worked without a problem. Just FYI.

True - if it is still listed anywhere on the network you obviously can't use it somewhere else. Someone may have just turned off a phone without fully deactivating it (and the sim within it) so the network still comsiders it to be in use.

Fix: Swap off the other device which is still listed on the network and the sim within it will be released instantly. You cannot just remove the sim from a device and use it somewhere else.

But this issue does not arise just porting out a device (and its sim with it) and porting it in back to another account, which is what we were discussing here. There should never be a problem with that.

If it is two different devices, yes, I agree it is better to get a new sim for the new device and avoid swapping sims.

I always say the actual name - Google Voice in this case. Sprint is fine with GV and FP numbers. The port request has to go from Sprint to the actual account provider. GV numbers are actually Banswidth.com and other VOIP numbers. But it doesn't much matter, Sprint researches what it really is anyway. They have to to send it to the right operator.

See https://www.prepaidphonenews.com/...-your.html for port out requirements.
