Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

it will work on the carrier-free iphone X - you will need a new SIM card (just ask for it from Apple store when you buy) and do online chat to swap the service from your 6 to new X

Quote from syscom :
My situation is Scenario 3.

All five of our Essential phones were purchased directly from Sprint online and received by mail. They were all locked to Sprint when received.

The one Essential, in the current discussion, was activated last year. After more than 50 days, I got it unlocked by Sprint with UICC Unlock showing unlocked and successful testing with another carrier's SIM. Some time later, It was taken off Sprint when it was replaced by an iPhone.

On 4/26 when one of my sons opened his own BYOD account, I gave him this unlocked Essential which was re-activated on my son's new BYOD account. It got re-locked with UICC Unlock showing locked. We could not make calls with other carriers' SIM's, either.

On 4/27 I called Sprint to make a request to re-unlock the Essential. After I told her what happened, the rep (Account Service/Retention) investigated the history of the phone and said she would submit the re-unlock request. I did not have to talk to the Unlock Dept. at all.

On 5/1, the phone was unlocked. The UICC Unlock currently shows "unlocked" and I can make calls with other carriers' SIMs.

I do not know if my situation helps you clarify your situation. That is what happened to one of our Essential phones.
That's great! These posts above should serve as reference data points to others who may have similar issues with the various versions of the Essential Phone.

The really strange issue with my originally purchased unlocked version of this phone is that even though the UICC locked/unlocked setting in the phone's menu changed to and now shows the phone as locked to Sprint after the phone was brought back to Sprint the second time and after it was locked and then unlocked by Sprint the first time, the phone is now really unlocked for other providers' sims and Sprint's system also shows it as unlocked.
And Sprint's higher level tech people have no idea as to why the phone's menu shows the phone as UICC locked when it should show as UICC unlocked and they state that there is nothing they can do about this UICC menu setting!

This reminds me of the Sprint locked phone fiasco several months ago when Sprint was swearing that there was nothing they could do about locked phones and that there was nothing wrong about the Sprint lock/unlock system, until they realized that something was wrong and they finally fixed it.

Maybe something similar is happening this time.

One LAST thing that may be material here is that my phone has been updated to Android v. 8.1.0 and the latest service pack, BUT Sprint has not managed to offer this Android version yet for the Essential Phone. By the way, the Essential Phone with the latest Android version and service pack is far more responsive and faster than the original purchased version, 7.x.

(These posts have also been posted in the other thread about the Essential Phone special deal for wider dissemination and viewing to help others).

Spoke to a rep yesterday trying to activate an account. The rep mentioned this promotion is ending this week and he does not know if it'll be extended.

Does that mean if you already have the plan it will get ended this week, or does this mean you cannot sign up after this week? I just ordered my sim on tuesday, i better set it up today. I was going to to wait till next week.

Thanks for nice post one question.. dont you need new sim from sprint.. for porting back in ? how did you order those
You should be able to use your old sim without issues. If you're unable to reuse, you can go to an Apple store and ask for a sprint sim free of charge. Assumes you have an iPhone but you might be able to do it without having an iPhone.

No most low-medium cost Metro phones are GSM only, including this one.

"compatible with GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile as well as with GSM SIM cards (e.g. H20, Straight Talk, and select prepaid carriers)....will not work with CDMA Carriers like Sprint, Verizon, Boost or Virgin."

I believe it's the promotion, not affecting people already on the plan.

Agreed although in his case he is not yet fully on the plan - he has not activated yet. He should activate now just in case there is a problem!

Also people should stop ordering sims to be shipped from Sprint. Get the sim locally from Apple or BestBuy or elsewhere and sign up by calling 866-782-8777. Do not sign up on the web page which forces a shipment delay.

So if I don't have a phone right now, will I have time to get one? I saw someone posted it only last until the end of the week. Is that Sunday? I can get one at Amazon if so.

I currently have 4 lines on Sprint. What's the fastest method to port out and how long does it take? Is it T-mobile prepaid?

My phones are:
3 LG G3
1 Samsung S7

Are they compatible? I should still be able to use the Sprint SIMs to activate when the time comes?

I would not count on it being Sunday.
Better call 866-782-8777 and ask (and let us know).
Worst case (hopefully unlikely) would be that they cut off new signups mid or late day Friday U.S. time which would be Saturday already in the Phillipines where TeleSales is located.

Are you saying I should sign up for this promo via phone? I received the sim yesterday, so I figured I could just sign up online?

I was mainly talking about the shipment delay of the sims for new orders when you order by web (plus things can go wrong).

In your case, since you already have received the sim shipped from signing up online and your account is presumably already set up, sure just click the link.
