Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

My promo ends in October, since it now has an end date. I plan on buying a tmobile pre-paid card and porting to tmobile. I will then port back to Sprint with a different SSN for this promo. Does it matter if I use the same phones and sim card as I use for when I previously had the account?

It does not. I did the same. Same sim and phone.

I think some Sprint sales agents are trying to "help" too much by providing too much in the form of their own personal guesswork as to what TMobile is going to need and what form it will take. It is supposed to be up to TMobile to pass or fail the port out request, not up to Sprint.

..........................
Yes, your point has been proved. The rep who asked for name, address, SSN linked to the number of other carrier yesterday was by her personal judgement.

I was greeted by another rep when called the promo line 866-782-8777 this morning. Besides the eligibility of my Sprint account, phone imei and SIM were verified, only phone #, account #, pin and name linked to the port-in account were asked. After he verified twice about the info provided, he submitted the porting and it only took minutes to port my number from Tmobile to Sprint. The rep has never brought up SSN during the conversation. The porting-in was quick and smooth just the way it should be. Smilie

Super! There were several of us of that opinion that helped provide some input.

Yup. I said this the other day, but don't be afraid to hang up and call again, people. It's the HUCA rule. If a rep is clueless, just say goodbye and hang up. Call back immediately and you're almost certain to be connected to somebody else. I did it myself two days ago when a rep told me I couldn't use my own SIM card -- had to purchase one from her over the phone. Some of the reps lie, others are just clueless. Either way, I've got no time for it.

Some csrs are enforcing the list of devices for this free plan.

I called a 2nd time to add a 2nd line and csr did not mention anything about list of devices.

Csr however mentioned I cannot change phones or IMEIDs for 120 days or I may lose free plan. Is that strictly enforced?

Yes if you do an upgrade to a Sprint offer through TeleSales or use a Store or Dealer.

Not at all if you do an IMEI swap to another phone you own on your DashBoard or through tech. support chat. We do IMEI swaps all the time. As a matter of fact they are explicitly permitted.

Were you able to activate a phone through the second rep that was refused by the first rep because it was "not on the list"?

Yes, the phone is in the process to be activated, just waiting for it to port from GV.

It was actually the 1st phone that I activated that I swapped a few hours ago Smilie

As indicated here in the past few days or so, Sprint will TERMINATE this BYOD 1 Year Free offer on 5/17/2018, and this thread will be dead after that.

So, anyone thinking of doing this you have about 11 days left to do it, but because of possible delays/complications it should be done asap.

Now, the good news is that once you have this free Sprint account open with at least one line, you can add more free lines later past the offer closing date of 5/17/2018 for this latest offer extension to 5/31/2019, up to the # of lines you were approved by Sprint when you initially opened the account, most people with good credit get approved for 5.

If you opened your BYOD account, say when the offer closing date was 1/31/2018 and the offer then was extended to 1/31/2019, then you can add more free lines to your account until 1/31/2019. Similarly for all other free offer extensions of the past year or so.

To add more free lines you'll have to call the phone # of the free offer, 1-866-782-8777.
This is a dangerous line of thinking. It is not clear to me at all that you can port in more lines on the "free" plan after 5/17, most likely not. You are approved for 5 lines for credit reasons, not 5 lines on that plan. You can open up to five lines on then available plans.

The follwing post tends to confirm my hypothesis that you just had a recalcitrant rep. and that you may be able to activate those phones with another rep.

(and also that a swap may work too.)

Yes, I'd probably estimate 90% confidence that you'll still be able to port in lines to an already established BYOD 1 year free unlimited plan after 5/17, and 95%+ confidence that they'll honor the full 1 year for everyone who is already active on the free plan, regardless of merger talks and preparation, etc. The plan terms state you can add a line any time (up to the limit) and indicate a specific "savings until" date.
The one small caveat is, *IF* they decide to change the terms after the fact then all bets are off. Most people think they won't do that because they'd basically be dumping customers straight to other carriers. Not many would stick around with a carrier that won't even honor their agreements. Also note (as mentioned in your linked post) that they could possibly decide to more strictly enforce porting in from only postpaid carriers, and doing that wouldn't be changing the terms.
