Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Call porting department only, not other departments. It is probably a routine port issue. Cancelling would just confuse things further. If you talk to other departments you might get your account noted.

You shoud use the same phone and sim and number. That is not a problem.
Do you know the porting department number? I tried one and the person just transfer me back to the promo line (866) 782-8777 agent.

agree..

and while there are some courageous folks out there..who port in/out ALL with in 1-3 hours..

i would wait for a day to let "dust settle" and let sprints accounts "settle" overnight..

..before i try to port back in

this information is in wiki:

PORT STATUS AND COMPLETION INFO:
Google Voice seemed stuck in porting limbo for over a day.
Found this link which gave status and aid to call in. 5min later its ported and activated ~outofstock

same question - i'm about to port 1st # to t-mo and wondering how you setup a PIN with them. Is it possible to access online account if you never add any prepaid cards/$s to the pay as you go plan?

also - anyone know if the Essential Phone is eligible for port back into sprint?

Thanks!!
during the port in the rep will ask you to create a PIN. I'd suggest dial 611 after port in is done and verify the PIN is valid for each number that ported in

Oh my God! I called 866-437-1818. It asked me the number I am trying to port and my account PIN where the number will be activated, after I did that, the porting is completed within 2 minutes!!!!

I have spent at least 4 hours yesterday and today calling agents and being put on-hold while they investigate or transfer to another department.

Thank you so much for the tip!!!!

It is indeed mentioned there.

Also it is mentioned in the Activation email (but admittedly buried in other details):

Quote :

Your phone is activated!

Thanks for activating your phone. When you turn it on for the first time, be sure you're in an area covered by the Sprint Network, not in a roaming area.
.......
Transferring your number to Sprint from another carrier? Before turning on your new phone, call (866) 437-1818 and follow the prompts.

I did read that yesterday while I searched for porting department number. But I thought it just related to Google voice and the number is Google voice customer service number to release the number for porting. My number is T-Mobile prepaid so I didn't try to call that number. Instead, I googled porting department number and talked to human being and wasted a few hours of my time.

I don't quite follow the idea of adding a second line (unless you need two lines simultaneously). If my current promo runs out in July, even if I add a line now that can last until 2019, I could not get rid of the main line (promo ends in two months), could I? So essentially I would need to terminate the main line and open up a new account (with say, my wife's profile) to get another year? Am I getting this right?

And how confident are we in terms of the thing ends 05/17/18? Since last July, I've seen this promo listed various end dates and kept being extended for another 30 day. What makes the difference this time (I know there is a merger, which has not been cleared by FCC yet).

Thanks a lot in advance.

It is the one year anniversary of the plan and they have never before cited a mid-month end date.

But if you believe it will be extended again, into a second year, fine, act accordingly.

i dont think u are quite understanding the promotion

to be clear:

if u have a plan that is currently ending in July 2018...then any line u add...say TODAY..will ALSO expire in July 2018 (ie the original end date)....NOT in June 2019...(ie 1 year from today)

the only way to get a 1 year from TODAY, is a to create a NEW account with a NEW ss number (say your wife ss number (assuming she is new customer))

then u get a 1 year expiration from TODAY
any line u add after that to this new account will also have the same expiration date

also,,what happens after 5/17/2018 the alleged end date is unclear

assuming the promotion is officially expired...
there are 2 camps that have different views on weather or not u will be able to add a line after 5/17/18...(if officially expired then)

some feel yes u can
others feel no u cannot

only time will tell...

again..all assuming the promotion has expired 5/17/18

other 2 lines were with Google FI, that were a bit of headache:
...
Had to put in ticket with google to engineering to disassociate phone from their database
Only then the phones became eligible for sprint.com/1yearfree, as google uses sprint they share the database.
The Fi chat support agents can disassociate a device which has been on Fi in the past (get the device ownership flag flipped from PLBL to SPCS to allow it to work on Sprint) while you wait on chat for a few minutes. They contact a "specialist" to do it. I've done it that way about 3-4 times and they only screwed up once. The time they screwed up, they accidentally flagged my device as "lost or stolen" instead which made me rather upset as it basically makes the device forever useless on any carrier, and it can only be reversed by the carrier who originally flagged it. That one had to go to an even higher level of support and they told me they would get back to me in 24-48 hours. I said that wasn't good enough and I don't want my phone to be unusable for up to 2 days due to their mistake, so in the end they were able to get it straightened out within a couple more hours. The other times when they did it right it took effect instantly and I could immediately pass the Sprint 1 year free BYOD eligibility check which had previously been saying "you owe Sprint for this device" due to having been used on Fi, which is a Sprint MVNO.

I currently have an account that's expiring end of july with 5 lines. If I want to open a new account under new SSN are the following steps to make it happen? (do not have apple store in area and worry that shipping time with ebay sim card will take too long).

1) go to tmobile store get starter kit $25
2) activate it on a pay as you go plan with local refill card fill ups and port one sprint number
3) open new sprint byod with phone number above and new ssn
4) bring over the remaining 4 lines? via sprint chat? (or do i need to repeat step 1 and 2 above on each of the remaining 4 lines?)

Can someone please fill in the gaps and/or let me know what I'm missing?
