Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Here is my situation:
  • I have an iPhone 5s (bought from VM, used on Ring+ only, was never on VM or any other mobile service) that passes the Sprint BYOD eligibility checker.
  • My iPhone 5s currently does not have active service, thus no phone number.
  • I got a T-mobile sim card and a Sprint sim card from the Apple store.
  • My iPhone 5s passes the Tmobile's checker for "Bring your own device"
  • I plan to use spouse's SSN to get the Sprint BYOD plan (because I currently have a BYOD account with 1 line but it will expire soon)

Are the below steps correct? Thanks for your help...
  1. Remove the Ring+ sim card from my iPhone 5s (I never took it out after Ring+ discontinued)

    Question: Is this step necessary?

  2. Insert the T-mobile sim card to the iPhone 5s

    Question: Is this step necessary?

  3. Call T-mobile 1-844-740-2981 & activate the sim and get a new number, no need to fund the account as others indicated.

Question: Because I will need to use spouse's SSN to sign up for the Sprint BYOD plan later, do I need to use my spouse's name/info to open the T-mobile account during this step?

Question: Is this T-mobile phone number (1-844-740-2981) correct? (I found the phone number 1-844-740-2981 from T-mobile website/FAQs: prepaid.t-mobile.com/prepaid/bring-your-own-device. It says: "Already have a prepaid SIM card and your own device? Please call 1-844-740-2981 to activate your SIM on T-Mobile's 4G LTE Network.")

  4. During Step 3, I should ask the T-mobile agent for: Account number, Phone number, PIN.

Question: In order to be prepared to sign up for Sprint BYOD, what other info should I ask for in addition to Account Number, Phone Number, PIN?

  5. Wait for a while (e.g. 12 hours, overnight) just to be safe… per desi_babu's suggestion. Then call Sprint 866-782-8777 to sign up for BYOD plan.

Question: Because I need to use spouse's SSN to sign up, does my spouse need to talk to Sprint during the sign-up process? Or can I talk to them as well? I'm asking so I know if I need to explain the whole thing to the spouse.

Need to cancel 2 old line to free up the phones. Dont care for the numbers. What will be the cheapest option? I have some unactivated H20, ATT, and Republic Wireless cards from the free month promo. Or don't bother and cancel through chat? Many thanks.
If all you're trying to do is free a phone, you can just swap in a dummy device if you have one (or can get one). You could also port out to close the account. Virtually unlimited options for that. Cheapest would be to port out to TextNow for free. But that might take days. Fastest is any major carrier. A good balance of fast/cheap porting would be Tello for $3.50. But you wouldn't be able to port back in as Tello is a Sprint MVNO. Since you're just dumping it though, it shouldn't matter.

1. No .

You can use the original Sprint Sim card used with RingPlus.

In fact I have done so. Sprint sim cards are never specific to a given MVNO.

The rest I leave to others more familiar with TMo.

2 should be NO too though. I have ported numbers from TMO Preoaid without even having a TMO sim card (using a "number for port" from EBay).

Did you insert the SIM into the phone or do it digitally without inserting it?

You can't reuse it indefinitely but according to threads like this:
https://www.howardforums.com/show...be-re-used
you can reuse it in limited circumstances.

I don't see why not except do we have the needed account password/pin if access to the account is needed? We have a 6 digit port pin but not the account 4 digit pin - is that the case? Or are they the same thing? I forget since I have only been using the Ebay ones recently.....

Changing end date did not change the terms for existing customers. Their terms remain unchanged. When they added lines, it was under the terms and dates (including last savings date) of their original offer and plan.

People received the terms of their plan online within their account and/or by email when they subscribed and those never changed (for them). They can still be accessed within their online accounts and still apply.

I think the implication of "at any time" probably (not with 100% certainty though) means we will continue to be able to add lines, because existing users are not adding lines under the extended or non-extended versions of the plan in the first place. In my opinion they are doing so under the terms of their original offer, which was never modified for them, completely independently and without any reference to extended offers to others that may or may not be made or ended.

(If people were adding lines dependent on the periodically extended and modified offers, they would be getting the revised ends of savings dates stated in those offers, and they are not).

About: " the whole landing page goes away and you have nothing to point to.", most everyone here thinking of doing this has made a copy of that page, OR stored it on his hard drive, OR has kept the Sprint email after an account is registered confirming this offer fact OR has done all three.
This is beside the point. It says "any time" not "forever". How do think this will get parsed when the promo phone dept is shut down and the promo page is closed off? Where are you going to go to "add your line"? It's obvious the "any time" is "any time" while the promo is going on.

Unless you can add a line on the site yourself (there is a button, but I don't think this plan shows up there), you'll be up a creek. This is not a risk that should be taken.

Please, read the terms as are written by Sprint, NOT as you would like to read them and re-write them:

Add a Line: Add a line at any time with port-in from postpaid carrier and Bring Your Own Eligible Phone up to the max. number of lines & get promotional pricing until 5/31/2019.

It clearly says: "Add a Line: Add a line at any time ............... & get promotional pricing until 5/31/2019.

It clearly says: "ADD A LINE AT ANY TIME.............(With these conditions ........... and these benefits) ............. UNTIL 5/31/2019.

It does NOT say, as you state: ""any time" while the promo is going on."

And, most certainly, most everyone here looks at the above as an additional bonus/benefit OPTION that MAY BE exercised in the future, NOT as a risk taken!
And, certainly, Sprint would LOVE to have more customers adding more lines, as it increases the chances of retaining more of these customers/lines and converting them to paying customers.
The Sprint retentions dept. has been offering $200 bonuses to customers calling to cancel in order to keep them as customers. It is extremely unlikely that Sprint will not honor the above terms that it wrote itself of adding another line (customer) to this plan and alienate any customers!

Read the terms here:

https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=114919803&postcount=17409

Everyone who opened a line here, and who may wish to open a line later, has the Sprint email with the above terms, CLEARLY STATED BY SPRINT, to rely on.

In any case, in a couple of weeks or more after this offer expires and customers attempt to add "free" lines to this BYOD plan we would know the outcome of this!

You're not even thinking clearly (plus I had to tone down your oversized text). The "until 5/31/2019" modifies "get promotional pricing", not "add a line". Get real unless you see a way to add free plan lines without the promo dept being there, as that's the only way to get on the plan. Now if they are offering retention rebates against paid plans that's another matter, but as you know the new owner is T-Mobile and whatever data points from the past should be wiped clean, starting from the sudden ending of the promo. If they were going by the old money-losing Sprint logic then why are they, as it appears, ending the promo?

Why so agitated? I'm only suggesting people to think clearly and not take stupid risks.

So if we have 3 lines on one account we can port all three out and then sign up for a new account with new SSN? Basically close the existing and sign up for new acct? And if we do this now we get another year free?

I tried searching on the 1219 pages this thread generated, but can't find the answer I'm looking for. Here's the question:
If I have an eligible beater phone lying around (iPhone 6, unlocked), can I sign up for this offer without "porting" from a current phone plan ? Pretty sure there's no longer a phone # connected to this iPhone 6 anymore...
thx
