Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Was it on Sprint postpaid or on an Mvno?

Try calling if it was on Sprint.

Postpaid and in chat with Sprint and they just say phone is not eligible but what they did say is activate the MotoE with Verizon and then port it out and it should work

The built in ICCID(sim card number) is listed under settings/more/about phone/status. You will give sprint that ICCID umber for coming back in. The sprint S3-sph-L710 won't work on T-Mobile since it is CDMA only and LTE band 25. You should be able to port in and out of T-Mobile without a phone and just use the T-Mobile sim card for sign up to do port in and port out of T-Mobile.
Very informative edog.

So after wasting 2 hours on this (3 dropped calls), I can confirm the following:

1. Sprint customer service is still abysmal. I call it Sprintcompetence.
2. Unless your phone is on the approved list, they WILL NOT activate the plan. I have 2 Sprint devices, a note 5 and s6. The IMEI shows it will work on Sprint, however, the rep would not budge. Escalated to a supervisor and was given the same info.
3. Sprint customer service is God awful. After this experience, I'm happy to keep paying Verizon.

Porting in with a Verizon number would not affect the compatibility of the phone. They are probably just cluless unless maybe they are hinting that they have instruuctions to TRY to accept anything if it comes with a Verizon number.

The S5 though is technically compatible - maybe they would accept that with a Verizon number. You can ask.....

Otherwise if the reps. will not put it on you would have to put on a fake phone on the eligibility list and then ICCID swap ;atr.

I assume you are giving them a valid non-Sprint number to port in.

I will give them a valid non sprint number to port in but first have to make sure I have a phone to put on the stupid service. That's the challenge. Not sure if it's worth the hassle

I don't see how your issue is the fault of the people who work in customer service.

I guarantee you that Verizon customer service people are given instructions about what they can offer or not offer, just as Sprint's people have to follow their instructions.

And those instructions and policies aren't static. Have you ever worked in customer service at a large corporation ? The scripts they have to follow are updated on a regular basis.

If you are not giving them a port-in number I did not think they could even check. Can they? If they are just giving you hypothetical answers I would not trust that at all.

Try activating a dummy IMEI of a high-end phone on the list first. Then you should be able to IMEI swap on the Sprint phones or you may find they will add them more readily as 2nd phone etc.

I have got on 4 phones that are not on the list but it looks as if it is getting harder. I can see you did try hard already.

I also think you could appeal it higher and can give you a contact if you want to try.

Thanks for the help. I ported out to T-mobile and attempted to port back in to Sprint adding the device to my wife's account, but was told that the device was not eligible, even though I had added it the last time around. I didn't get past giving them the IMEI. I will try again tomorrow.

I was afraid of that. They seem to be getting a lot tougher on adding old Sprint devices. You may end up having to first activate a dummy IMEI high-end eligible phone. Then try adding this one as a second phone or ICCID swap it on.

But definitely try again first the normal way. Some have been able to convince them by saying it is only temporary until they are eligible later to do an upgrade.

Try swapping it with your wife's e4 then use the e4 to add the line. Then once you have the 2 lines setup swap the numbers so she has e4 back and you get old s3.

What's the cheapest compatible phone that would be eligible for this deal? I'm trying to help a couple friends get in before it's over.
Quote from xtrabad :
So my daughter suddenly wants to get in on this plan before it expires. She doesn't care if she loses her old phone number.

Is my best option to go to Best Buy tomorrow and buy the unlocked E4 and the boost mobile sim card? Then use T-mobile Prepaid to set up a new prepaid account and get a new prepaid number using an old Tmobile phone and SIM that I have laying around. Then port that number over to Sprint to get the BYOD plan using the new unlocked E4? TIA.
Since your daughter already has a tel #, it can be ported directly to Sprint and you can skip the T-Mo Prepaid steps. Of course, your daughter's existing tel # can not be on Sprint now.
Moto E4 UNLOCKED & UNACTIVATED requires this Sprint Sim Part #: SIMOLW416Q and you may be able to get it for free or $2.99 at any Sprint CORPORATE store, NOT Sprint DEALER stores.
