Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

I have heard people reporting cancellation of home wifi and completely depending on Sprint tethering for home usage.
Is that really practical? How do you manage that?
Keep phone connected to charger and then tether?

It depends on their usage and their coverage area. Its only 10Gb per line tethering. If you only check emails and browse, then it should be fine. Streaming videos; youtube, netflix etc I would image use the data very quickly and thats if the speeds are enough.

I have checked the eligibility online, it says "This phone can't be activated". Should I unlock the phone prior to checking the eligibility? And have you called Sprint for this order?
Oh sorry, I ported an xfinity phone number to Sprint. I used a different phone. A Google Pixel when I ported to Sprint so I can sell my xfinity LG X Charge. Which phone do you have? I have an xfinity S8 and I checked and it's eligible. And yes you need to pay off phone first for them to unlock your phone so you can use it on other carriers.
You have the iPhone 7....Sorry I'm not too familiar with those. Can only say basing from my experience. Xfinity S8 eligible, LG X Charge not eligible. Other phones not sure.

It should still activate on Sprint mvno's.
Tello has attractive pricing for light use.

To check its status further, see what it says at

when you enter the IMEI.
I wonder if Ting actually released it.. they said they did last night

We can't activate this phone online.
Sorry, please bring your phone to a Sprint Store so we can help.

Enter your IMEI

So we use the same phone number and sim card when going from sprint to tmobile back to sprint? The only thing ending up being different is it's a new account under a new name? Or can the old name be reused too?
45 days waiting period for same name/social security number. Instant if new name, new ssn.

Picked up an e4 from BB, got the boost sim pack from BB, put in the call to sprint, gave all the info from the FP account, gave them the info from the 416q sim. Now we're waiting on FP to "release" the number... until then I'm looking at "invalid SIM card"

Anyone with experience porting from FP know how long it took for them to get things working?
Update: Sprint said they would call me back after an hour as FP said it could take 20min to an hour. Now Sprint is saying it will be ready 7pm TOMORROW cst. That puts the time at 30.5 hours to transfer the number. I think I'm getting bad information =/

Does anyone know, once you get a pre-paid T-mobile phone number (but not fund the accout), how much time do you have until you port it out to Sprint BYOD?

Also, is Verizon iPhone 8s eligible for the Sprint BYOD? Is it 'unlocked' by default or do you have to 'unlock' it?

Uh oh.. I did the port out to T-Mobile, and then use a new SSN to open a new account, but when I did the port in for the numbers I superimpose one of the numbers, and so they called me to say the port in wasn't working. Then they caught the fact that it went from Sprint to T-Mobile back to Sprint. Not sure what to do now at this point? The one number ported just fine but the one I made a mistake is where they caught me.. Any suggestions? I've had this number for 15 years, so I don't want to lose it. :-( the did say they would ask a supervisor, but I didn't take it that far yet, as I don't want to mess up the one line that's already up and running and active.

Yes they should work in my opinion. It will not lose its database status.

However TeleSales is getting stickier and stickier about adding older Sprint phones not on the list. Something must be up with that. Some people have been able to talk them out of their reluctance, others not. Try telling them you will upgrade it after you qualify in 120 days.

The S7 Edge is fairly recent so there may be no problem.

You should be able to IMEI swap it on too if need be, UNLESS they start adding additional validation to the swap process as well (which I doubt however as it would be a lot of work).
similar question,
.......my ebay Sprint Lg g5 won't get here for another 2 days. Seller was kind enough to give me the IMEI number.

.......To start the verification process, I put the imei in www ting com / byod and it says i'm good for 2g, 3g, and 4g LTE. For further confirmation I try the sprint com bring-your-own-device website and I get "Good news, your phone is compatible with our network."

.......I go to the sprint com 1yearfree website to input the imei and my Verizon Prepaid number so I can order the SIM straight from sprint, and I get:
"Ineligible, this phone does not qualify for this offer".

.......Am I SOL for this endeavour? My only other CDMA phone is my current verizon Lg g6, incompatible anyways. I'm hesitant to order any other sprint branded phones. What am I gonna do with the ebay ineligible Sprint phone once I receive it?

I don't see how your issue is the fault of the people who work in customer service.

I guarantee you that Verizon customer service people are given instructions about what they can offer or not offer, just as Sprint's people have to follow their instructions.

And those instructions and policies aren't static. Have you ever worked in customer service at a large corporation ? The scripts they have to follow are updated on a regular basis.
The practice of intentionally dropping a call is not something I have ever seen on an instruction or a policy in any call center job that I had worked. If you somehow think that it is, then I wont waste anymore time debating this with you.

Try activating a dummy IMEI of a high-end phone on the list first. Then you should be able to IMEI swap on the Sprint phones or you may find they will add them more readily as 2nd phone etc.

I have got on 4 phones that are not on the list but it looks as if it is getting harder. I can see you did try hard already.

I also think you could appeal it higher and can give you a contact if you want to try.
I tried that also, I have a S8+ with Verizon, they checked the IMEI and confirmed it was on the list of approved devices, however, they wouldn't activate it as I did not have the correct sim card. I had purchased sim cards for the s6 and note 5.

I'd really like to see proof or evidence of anyone that has activated a nonlisted device directly through Sprint.
