Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

In the compatibility list, it says Galaxy S8 Verizon version. Why wouldn't the US unlocked version work too?
It will work and is listed in the most recent version of that list:
excerpt of current list:
Samsung Galaxy S8 (Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy S8+ (Verizon, AT&T and T-Mobile)
Samsung Galaxy S8 Special Edition <<<<<<<<<<<
Samsung Galaxy S8+ Special Edition
Samsung Galaxy S9 Special Edition
Samsung Galaxy S9+ Special Edition

(You are probably looking at an old version of the list posted a long time ago).

Also in any case the list now says other phones not listed may qualify as well (and this was always true in fact).

The account would not be a problem since it is not Sprint postpaid as you say.

Virgin is not a Sprint mvno. It is a Sprint prepaid brand. It makes a difference. It is literally part of Sprint at the corporate level. But in general you cannot use Sprint prepaid phones on Sprint postpaid UNTIL/UNLESS they are released after a full period of paid service, by Virgin in this case.

But will Virgin release the phone for use on Sprint postpaid? Call Virgin (which is part of Sprint) and ask them. As you say, the answer may be no, or only after x period of time. Or maybe someone knows.....
I was able to do this with my wife's phone. To get the free year of Virgin service we had to pay for the i-Phone upfront and I assume you had to do the same. I contacted them (Virgin) via email to unlock the phone and they did (they wanted to know if was for domestic or international). Ported over to T-Mobile and then ported back into Sprint with a new account in her name. Got a free SIM at the Apple store just to be sure but I think the Virgin SIM will also work.

Just another followup since I activated another brand new G6 play as a 3rd line. Every time I work with an agent the results seem to be different. This new line port on the telasales I was first informed the phone showed being a prepaid device previously and he thought it could not be activated. I told him it's brand new sprint device I bought from Walmart. He called for help and was about to get it to be accepted 10-20 min later. Then I got a new error I never saw before that my "SIM was locked" and I should reboot the phone. Rebooting did not help, he called support again. During that time the support refreshed the add into the system and I ejected my sim, got "No SIM" message on phone and inserted again. After that we were able to get the phone registered properly.

Purchased a sim on ebay for Tmobile for the port. $3 and email delivery of sim. I also saw after on ebay some sellers selling Tmobile portable lines for $4.50, area code of choice, phone number, account number, pin, etc, which would be cheaper than the $6 I paid total. 3 Sim, and 3 Pay as you go service. You might want to try that.

I have two questions. I currently have a Virgin mobile 1 year free (iPhone SE). As a Sprint MNVO this is ineligible so I want to port out to T-Mobile/Verizon and then port back to Sprint to get another year.

1. Will this result in the 45 day SSN hold (that can be bypassed by using someone else's details - like my wife)? I think no since it isn't technically Sprint.

2. Is there any way to get that iPhone SE from Virgin to pass IMEID? If it is unlocked? If I sim swap it onto a different BYOD line? I think on this one the answer is no and I just have to get a new phone.

Excellent - You outline exactly what boybrady should do.

Virgin and Sprint sims are indeed one and the same thing and the old sim should be fine. I have never had any sim-related issues moving phones back and forth between Sprint Postpaid and Sprint's Prepaid divisions, which include Virgin.

Is Sprint's wifi stable enough to cancel my landline phone and move it to a moto G6 play and use wifi for the calls? I would use a blue tooth phone that links to cell phone as the main phone. It did work for me but not sure about the stability of it in the long run. There might be better options out there for cancelling the home phone. At this point it's been in my cable bundles and usually free when bundled but when you look at all the taxes, broadcast fees for TV (close to $20 and this does not include phone taxes--just internet and TV) it might make sense to ditch the TV and phone and have internet only. TV broadcast fee of $8.85 a month Frown.

Use Google Voice and a Obi200 adapter in your home. You can port your current home number to GV by going through a Prepaid service. I ported my home number to AT&T Preapid and then to GV. I've found GV reliable and HD voice quality.

Are there any fees? with the Obi200? Would Ooma be a better choice if II didn't need portability of the home phone number? I want to keep the number but really don't need to have it follow me wherever I go. I know with google voice you can forward that number to different devices and I do have a google # and do use it but sure had some challenges with hangouts and the LG G4 not sure if it was the phone or Hangouts but it was a pain to answer sometimes.

https://prepaid.t-mobile.com/prep...individual

paygo, I think it had option to bring line so should work fine. I just used it to make a new line, it was nice I got to pick a phone number and do it all online. ATT was requiring me to call in to do the as you go program, and different rep were making me fund account differently, I think my first line I did on att was $6, and second was $10.

Overall T-Mobile was much easier, and consistent. I ported out within 20 minutes of making the line. Just need a sim, I bough one on ebay for $3 https://www.ebay.com/itm/173247016698

It should be. I had no problems using wifi calling on an S8. I have not seen complaints.

That said, it will add a tiny bit if latency depenfing on your provider. You need to test it for sure.

With the greatest of respect for other posters, I had Google Voice / Hangouts for years and dumped it because it had too much latency and other problems here. I am sure it varies depending on many factors including location and is fine for many people.

Some of the problems with native voice on the G6 Play may be Moto design flaws in a weak signal area. I think you probably saw the posts by another user who found the G6 Play unacceptable where his Samsung S5 was fine.

At this point he can do Billing Chat to get it fixed.

I would not call Sales at this point.

Just called 1800 777 4681

The rep stated that the first month will be $65.35 and the following months will have credits to make the plan free. Not sure if he is correct or not and was on the phone for a good 1hr on hold while he talked to his supervisor.

Used the following link to signup and order sim card

Does anyone have the proper description of the plan ?

Yes I did see that! I have done a few tests on the Moto G6 in other areas and signal strength seemed ok inside of buildings. Will still have to do more as I go to various stores, places. I launched Pandora at the gym and it buffered a few minutes (on LTE) and then played continuously all the way home and automatically hooked up to the wifi and never missed a beat. It also seemed to load webpages pretty fast. I did the speedtest also and it was between 16 -19 download (can't remember but at least it was capable.) Wish I could justify paying the price for an S8 but I don't use a cell phone that much so it's a pretty expensive investment for very little use and sure hate that you can't replace the batteries. I know most of the phones are coming that way now. On a plan I had with Selectel several years ago--1000 minutes lasted the whole year and only purchased 1 data card and that lasted me the year also. My main use is the home phone for business purposes so I have to have something that will work.
