Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Dang, it appears my old T-mobile sims that I bought originally for this deal are now dead and I have to get new ones in order to port back out and then back in again with my wifes SSN. Do I need actual physical t-mobile sims or can I just get numbers from the ebay guy? It sounds like in order to re-use my current Sprint SIMS I have to have my wife call in for this deal and activate and port back into Sprint? Sorry, this thread is a monster and so much of it is about how to make certain phones work on the account, not the deal itself.

Which prepaid? Boost?
What device?

Did it serve the full required period paid on Boost etc?
Normally you would get Boost to release it.

If you used a Sprint prepaid device on an MVNO instead they will not do it.

If you used a Sprint postpaid fevice on an MVNO it can be done via a certain procedure.
hi,thanks for your response, so here is the full story. Sorry i dont understand how mvno and stuff works but this is what i have so far:
in feb 2016 i purchased a sprint prepaid lg volt 2 from best buy. It has a sprint sim card inside it.
I activated the phone on ringplus and used it with ring plus until it shut down. Then i was using that phone with Cellnuvo for a bit until that shut down. THe device has been unused for quite a few months now.
When i put in the imei in the sprint device checker, it says device cant be activated online, i should go to a store.
I tried calling, the phone support looked up the imei and said the device comes up as a boost device. (wonder why)
When i put in the IMEI of the device on the boost website, it says its not compatible there either. (i would expect this at it is a sprint device)
the message on boost website is:
general_application_exception-Server.704:nms_exception: Server.704:NMS returned status_code=49, status_text=INVALID_PHONE_OWNERSHIP: Phone owner can not be PLBL.

even tried to put the imei on the sprint prepaid website and it does not work there either.. so wonder what carrier the phine is locked to and how i can get to use it with sprint

(sorry if i am rambling)

You will never activate it in postpaid.

The ownership-flag flip works does not help or work for prepaid-origin devices and nobody will do it on such phones.

i have 2 or 3 LG Tributes, and some Volts myself and Sprint will not activate them on postpaid.

You should be able to activate it on Tello, Twigby, Ting, or FreedomPop which are better deals than SPP or Boost anyway.

I took my old Ring+ LG phones to Tello for emergency phones. Pay as you go with no monthly fees, I just put $10 credit that should last a long time at $.03 a minute or $.01 per text for emergency communications.

https://tello.com/bring_your_own_phone

You can check there.

Same here - I still use Tello that way too. They have better rates to Canada than Sprint postpaid does. $10 can last forever.

Exactly and your only cost should be $3 per line. There are links in the wiki.

I updated the steps to include the T mobile account details if it helps others. To your question, yes each phone line has its own pin for Tmobile pay as you go/prepaid.

1)First, have your Sprint account number and PIN ready.
2) Order the Tmobile prepaid/pay as you go SIM card from Amazon. Its around $8.95..Chose one day shipping and pay extra $5 to get it the next day.
3) You don't have to recharge/reload the SIM. Once receive the SIM, call Tmobile customer care and ask them to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint Acc. no, PIN , Phone number and T mobile SIM card number
4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process.Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.
5) Wait for about an hour and Chat with Sprint Customer care and verify if your account is cancelled. Someone mentioned you can also check the status on sprint byod page with IMEI number.
6) Now call back sprint telesales number and port your Tmobile number to Sprint with a different SSN ( a family members)
7) After about 45 mins or so with all credit check etc done, you are good to go for another one year.
Isn't there a cheaper way, like 99 cents for activation and then charge it with $2, all you need T mobile is for few hours, less than a day.

Well I guess the magic begins---I received the Magic Box so waiting for it to do some tricks!. The service seems to be ok everywhere other then my home so that's a good sign! I have been able to use it inside of various buildings including the Va which I have never been able to get Verizon to work. The best way for me to check it out is play Pandora and as long as music is playing uninterrupted then I know I'm connected to Sprint service. I haven't set it up for wifi other then at home. This makes it a simple test for me at places where I go in and out. I was able to browse at the VA also.

Now to deal with Sprint to get the Magic Box returned--guess I can tell them I didn't see any magic --it should have been spitting out those $100 bills by now.

Sprint doesn't care what phone you're using on T-Mobile. Sprint only cares about you have the correct sim card and any unlocked phone from the list. You can use any Sprint postpaid phone too.

As soon as you port off the account tied to that SIM number it's dead, forever
