1.I said nothing about the wiki.

2. the post I replied to said nothing about using the same phone/sim.

3. this deal never had anything to do with referrals.

4.I have read them all.

5. I said two different things. I didn't say your question and answer was in the first 10k posts. I said it's in the last 500 pages. Not the same thing.

6. I also didn't say you did anything wrong. My comment is about why there are 20,000 posts.

7. you are welcome.
This deal actually did involve referrals, early on that is. Myself and many many others got in for a free year and over $500 in referral bonus money on top of that. It's all in there, just go back a few pages and read up. All went away when terms changed of course.

That scamming referral crap was not this deal. Someone might talk about how to steal candy in this thread but that doesn't mean this deal is about stealing candy.

probably. but calling to apply for the plan may be a better way.
what's that? you mean better call them to verify the compatibility rather than just go check on page?
thought just call them after got the sim, but has the qualify issue first

I just wanna say thanks so much for the effort behind making this post. Even though I can't advantage of this deal, the lengths you went into to cover almost every possible thing I can imagine in the wiki is worth recognition.

Scamming? Stealing? Not sure where that is from. Referring people was done right through their website and validated by Sprint, again you know this because you read every page. And the original deal actually had it described in the wiki, more information you already know.

Question - hoping to get this done this weekend since I am going out of town. Can I start the process online and then finish it using a SIM from Best Buy instead of waiting for the SIM to arrive Tuesday? (i.e. does the system assign you the SIM number when you order it online and it won't let you activate/finish the setup with a different SIM purchased elsewhere)?

I prefer to do this stuff myself online rather than having to call in with the SIM I bought at Best Buy and deal with someone else who would possibly screw it up.

When you call they check that your port-in number is going to work and if your device is going to work. Sometimes humans can do things websites cannot.

Think of it this way..you can get a vibrating bed at Motel 6, or you can get a massage from Gardenia down on Main st.

I never said I read the wiki.

You can define "this deal" however you want. In my definition "this deal" is Sprint's BYOD free plan for a year.

Calling can qualify some phones that may be rejected by the checker for non-technical reasons (mainly Sprint models) but this does not include phones that do not have the needed Sprint bands in the first place.

why would you apply online before you get the sim from Best Buy ?

I started going through the process just to check it out - this offer it doesn't give you the option to choose between "I need a SIM" and "I already have a SIM." The only option is to order one.

if that's the case, what's the point of getting a sim at Best Buy ? How would you do anything with it online before Tuesday ?

well that's a good reason to do it by calling. When you call you can give them the icc id from your Best Buy sim.

What phone are you using ? If it's a phone made for Sprint and it already has a Sprint sim in it you don't need another sim at all.

I've got a Verizon iPhone 7+ so I know it's compatible. Was just trying to get away from having to deal with outsourced customer service. Smilie
