Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

IMPORTANT UPDATE from T mobile Pre Paid account.

Just got off three way calling with Sprint Porting Department and T mobile Pre Paid CS Rep. T mobile has CHANGED ALL NEW PRE PAID ACCOUNT NUMBERS (at least for me who got a new number from T mobile. Maybe it's different for porting in). IT IS NO LONGER 1+your phone number as of today. That was why I wouldn't port my number from T mobile to Sprint.

Hopefully you guys didn't have to deal with this. But maybe this info will help someone.
Just finished porting in a 3rd line (from tmo) on to my wifes SSN. I just want confirm that the account number for ported in lines from Tmobile will have a 1 in front of the phone number. As you stated, new lines will not have the 1 prefix.
Hopefully this clarifies the confusion regarding account numbers.

BTW, I used the same tmo virtual sim that i used on a previous port.

You don't exactly.
You are giving your SSN to pre-open the plan account online.
It is actually better to get the sim card elsewhere ($2.99 from Twigby) and call 866-782-8777 to sign up using your own sim. At that point you will have to give your SSN.

In other words, signing up online forces the purchase of a sim card because of its rigid process flow.

Good!

Do not cancel your old Sprint port by the way (which would cause problems), just update the pin on your existing request either yourself on the Sprint site, or by calling 866-437-1818 . Most likely the pin was the problem.
Success! I reset everything in the GV acct while I had Sprint on the line. Updated pin and this time it worked. All the other info they asked for was fake except the Acct# (phone number) and the pin. Thanks for all of your help!

I've followed the instruction to the letter as u listed No issues getting T mobile pre paid set up with just SIM number and no physical card. Got my pin.
Sprint approved my porting and I checked IMEI which was eligible for porting. Issue I am running into now is Sprint cannot port the number from T mobile because "information I provided isn't correct". I was on line with Sprint porting team. When I call T mobile now the computer doesn't recognize my PIN. But when I spoke with CS rep they verify my pin is correct. This is where things gets tricky when you don't have a physical sim and cannot log into your T mobile account.
I ran something like you, just ask the guy in ebay he Will take care of you. Other people help not good because they're not even reading your comment.

There are two different TMobile pins possible. Account pin and port pin. If you do not set a port pin, I believe it uses the account pin. Some sim vendors use one and some the other. Could this be the origin of the problem.? If so, to resolve it, follow exactly the instructions specified by the sim vendor, not generic instructions from elsewhere.

There can also be confusion about the format of the account number (with or without the 1) and some other TMO prepaid account numbers are not based on the phone number at all. I have had both types.

As lizi.893 says, the solution is to get help from your sim vendor.

My issue was I did not port a number to tmo, just used the electronic sim number to create a new account with a new phone number. In that case, the account number was not the phone number, it was shown on the receipt luckily. Be sure to capture all the tmo confirmations.

Yes well said.

Some of these are just verbal and the account number can change between the two flavors, it seems, if you reuse the sim.

People need to write down any account numbers you are given on the phone.

In the end, I was doing a port back into Sprint that was failing. There is a Sprint web page where you can update your port-in yourself and I just tried both flavors of account numbers I had written down until one succeeded.

So i ported out of sprint and ported back IN THE SAME DAY for a total of around $9 and it worked.

I bought a $3 T-mobile sim on ebay (emailed no physical shipped). I then used that sim to open a $3 pay as you go t-mobile account online. Once on t-mobile i called sprint that same day to open the free one year promotion using a different ssn and activated using sprint sim cards bought at my local sprint store($3 price matched ). $9, a couples hours, and some patience (3+ hours) on the phone. It can be done in one day.

i did this with 5 lines
$9 per line. so my total was around $45 all in all
When you say you ported out of Sprint, do you mean actual Sprint Postpaid or an MVNO of Sprint?

Yea I see now. I paid the three dollars when I bought it 2 months ago, but the other phone I had was still locked. Just got the Moto G6 play from Walmart and I tried to set it up with that number, but I was having all kinds of trouble. So today it works and the phone was only $83 with tax and the number was 3 bucks and the monthly bill is $5. Sprint service is meh, but saving money is always great!

Wondering if anybody can help me figure out if what I want to do is possible with minimal cost...I currently have a number on Tello that I would like to keep on a phone that I don't much care for. I recently bought one of the Boost Moto G6 Plays from the Walmart deal. I would like to be able to sign up the G6 with this Sprint Unlimited deal using my Tello number.

It seems that I could port the number to Tmobile but then how do I get the number on the G6 phone since it's a Boost phone that's not currently unlocked? Do I have to bite the bullet and port over to Boost and then to the Sprint plan?

Appreciate any help and advice folks can provide. Thanks!

You don't have to get the number on the phone.
Port in the number from TMO as you said.
Activate the phone on Sprint at the same time.
Sprint does not know or care that the phone was inactive up to now or that the number had no previous association with the phone.

This plan requires two separate things
- port in a number
- activate a phone

These are separate requirements.

However realize that they may tell you that the phone is ineligible because it is a prepaid phone. The remedy for that is hang up and try again or try a different way or try to talk them into it or swap it on or activate a high end phone at the same time to make them more amenable etc.
