Sure but you do not move sims around on Sprint as the primary means to change phones. That is a practice on other carriers. Instead you do an IMEI swap on the dashboard and/or via chat, which takes just 30 seconds, and supply a sim as needed which may have come with the phone or can be obtained. So it is trivial to do also.

You would need a Sprint-compatible model. Which models are Sprint compatible has varied in different iPhone models over the years but will be clear at announcement.
Thanks for spending the time writing a thorough reply.

Hey wanted to see if this is the way to extend your service:

1. open new account with SSN and port out old number to GV/Tmobile

or

2. cancel account and wait 45 days to be eligable for a new account?
If you have a new SSN to use there is no need to wait 45 days. Don't bother with GV and just port your existing Sprint lines to T-mobile using $3.25 digital T-Mobile SIM card from eBay and port back in to sprint for another year of free 1YR BYOD. Whole process is less than 1 hour- https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=117049859&postcount=21051

If you don't have a new SSN to use, then port out to another carrier for 45 days (preferably one that has a promo). Then port back into Sprint for another 1 free year. If you decided to port to a Sprint MVNO (Ting, Tello etc) in that 45 interim day period, you will need to port from that interim Sprint MVNO to T-mbobile using the $3.25 digital SIM card before porting to Sprint since Sprint MVNO's port ins are not eligible for the 1 year byod free plan.

As previously mentioned, Sprint is a total scam / fraud joke and will sign you up under a different plan once you port your # in, then magically they will not be able to "find" the 1 year unlimited free plan in their system so you will be on hold for 4 hours combined until you just cancel it out and go a separate direction. Total scam
If this is a scam, this thread won't have lasted 1 full year since June 2017 with 1500+ posts. You just didn't do a good job verifying that the rep was signing you up for the 1 year byod free plan. Here's an important life lesson for you- if you are having issues with the underpaid outsourced front line reps, ask for a supervisor instead of wasting 4 hours arguing. And there's something called an executive office to complain to if you want to get your desired results. Executive offices of most corporations is where the magic happens.

I activated 3 Boost Moto G6 Play. As mentioned here, dont open the box. All the informations Sprint need is on the box itself. First give the HEXId that starts with 9900 and then the ICCId. When they input the HEX ID, it recognize as Moto G6 Play and they will tell you so. They will assign each HexID and ICCCID with the porting number.
Did you have to pick up a BYOD Sim card to make this work?
And then do online - or via calling in?

I just picked up a Boost Moto G6 Play - and while I am on the Sprint $15 plan, I would like to add a line (the one year free) and move my wife's service over. I would prefer to do so without opening the box to ensure it works - so I assume I need to pick up a Sim (what model sim ?)

tht sucks..i wonder what u did wrong...cause

1000's of people have done so

sure there are those corrupt souls in S that will do bad things like add insurance (very common) or put u on a paid plan (very UNCOMMON)

those corrupt individuals are part of every company, not just S

u didnt get the plan..i am sure u did something wrong along the way

id suggest u port out and never look to S again...better to spend lots of money to other carriers like V ATT & TM and not give S a penny

best of luck

ps...in case u will accuse me of working for S...so i will answer that now...of course i do..

DO NOT OPEN THE BOX

The Moto G6 Play has a sim card that is compatible with Sprint. The rep asked me the HexId first which starts with 9900 and the ICCID. He attached both with the numbers that I want to port including the Google voice number.

As in the wiki, I called in even though the eligibility check showed its eligible.

I dont know about attaching a new device to the $25 plan. You might want to talk to a rep or someone here can chip in.

Hope this helps.

I wonder why literally thousands of people have signed up, ported out and back in, and have had no such problem.
Oh wait they're probably all shills

I was replying immediately after my post that said I have the Boost Moto G6 Play. Someone else was replying at the same time and ended up getting in a post in between mine. I forgot to go back and add that info again.
And I'm in middle TN.

I did try 3G at the time and it didn't work any better or at all.
as I said, everyone, at least myself, doesn't read every post and keep track of which poster has what phone.

"Middle TN" narrows it down to about 6000 square miles.Wave

I live in Knoxville, Sprint works fairly well here but it is affected by hills and mountains.

Are you referring to online account info? If so it just takes awhile for the system to update

Does T Mobile now require that you pay them $3 per line up front to open pay as you go accounts? I've had 2 different reps tell me that today. In the past, they would set up the line without requiring a credit card.

Also, are there still problems with porting in T Mobile numbers back into Sprint? There seem to be some posts about that, and I just wanted to check that there weren't any current porting issues before I start this process.

Thanks!

That is weird as usually Voice and text work but not LTE or no service at all.
Tracphone used to load apn profiles so maybe some settings got corrupted. You can try ##clear# to reset subscriber settings and also check for old profiles. If these don't work Phone may need backup and restore but if backup has the bad settings you may need to restore as new phone(last resort). I guess it may be possible the meid was entered wrong by sprint but think that would result in no service. Unless network is just recognizing sim card(iccid) and able to use data but I thought Sprint blocked that, maybe not.

1-Reset Subscriber Settings (Carrier Reset)
Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
Enter # # 25327 #
Tap Call
A "Reset Subscriber Settings" message will appear - tap OK
Wait 5-10 seconds; the signal notification will display "Searching" on the top left of the screen
When the phone shows a signal again, the phone is ready to use

2-Service Update (Profile & PRL Update)
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Tap the phone app
Dial # # 873283 #
Tap Call
"Starting Service Update" message will appear - tap OK
If update is successful "Service Update Complete" message will appear after about a minute - tap OK

3-Check for an old LTE APN profile and delete it.
The problem was due to a Profile named "LTE APN". (Settings>General>Profiles - Right below "VPN". There may not be "Profile" on the Menu, depending on the carrier used before.). Deleted this Profile, then LTE Data signal showed up! This Profile was probably from the previous carrier.
Thanks, edog11, for all the information. It turned out that it was not Sprint's problem, but Apple's. The iPhone is unlocked, but the wrong activation policy was applied by Apple. My problem is resolved by requesting Apple to applied the correct policy. More information can be found in this post on Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c...onnect_to/

Yes. I couldn't create one on the Sprint website but I used the link in the email that they sent me, telling me to create an account, and that worked perfectly
