So today I successfully re-upped my 1 year by having my father port from AT&T. Then I did the port to TMO then joined his "plan".
Did it over the phone. Was pretty easy. But it took awhile for my phone to completely swap over and be usable. My dad's still isn't. It's an iPhone 6, and it's saying SIM is not compatible.
I talked in person to a Sprint rep (sprint store near my work) and he said AT&T must still have a lock on the device. Which doesn't make sense, given the port was successful. Don't they check to ensure the device is unlocked?
So now I've submitted an online request to unlock the device through AT&T and we're playing the waiting game for "up to 2 business days" for a response.
Anyone have any experience with something like this? The device has been paid off for years.. I believe it was my sister's, and when she upgraded, she gave the phone to my dad a couple years ago.

Also, I was told by Sprint rep during port process that this iPhone does not have LTE band. So the max it'll ever get is 4G. Is this just a limitation of the hardware ,or something I can potentially change in the settings? (I'm an Android guy).

Also, no-go on the expires in Sept 2019 date. Guy said I have exactly 12months of "Free" service. So... July 2019. I didn't ask about the 480 vs 1080p streaming though. Bah.
As to the one year, that is complete nonsense and just another illustration of how little those reps know unless it is obvious.

Your expiry date when you check it in the DashBoard under Manage Plan / See Details will be 9/30/2019.

Someone else will post re the AT&T iPhone 6 but yes that is a real problem.

You're right. I setup my online account just now and checked and sure enough, it shows 9/30/2019. I edited my previous post.

This is off topic, but I'm hoping one of you guys would have some insight into porting a number into Google Voice. I'm trying to save a landline phone number by porting it into T Mobile and then out to GV, but I didn't realize that the GV porting process requires a verification code be sent to the phone. My T Mobile account doesn't actually work (got online SIM card number, not physical SIM). Is there any way around this, or do I have to buy another SIM card that works so that I can verify the code. Thanks.
You are doomed, unless you have a great friend that don't mind letting you use his/her cell phone for GV verification..
There's is no other way, I tried many virtual text services and other "hack" and none worked to receive the GV verification.

My free year is coming up. They just sent me an email regarding the new rates.
New line pricing after AutoPay is shown below:

Line 1: $60
Line 2: $40
Line 3: $30
Line 4: $30
Line 5: $30

I traded in an iphone for an iphone 8 and I am stuck through the end of the year making iphone payments for the trade.

Do I have any other options? I think it is way too expensive.
Move to some provider that will buy your phone contract out. Than move back to sprint with a different SSN
But it usually take a few weeks to get the credit/refund and sometimes it is not worth it at all, so Do the math!
Ex : T-Mobile Get out of the red and we'll pay off your eligible phone up to $650 per line with a prepaid card.

Did anyone have any luck calling customer service to extend the end date to 9/30/19 from 7/30/19 (to match what was stated on the website) if you signed up on 7/11 or 7/12? I didn't have any luck with telesales or chat. They said it's 12 months anyway, but that isn't true.

I signed up 1 day before they switch to the new date. My dash board says it will end on 7/31/19. If Sprint have this deal continue for next year, you can always sign back up again. So you would not miss out on anything. This is the start of my 2nd year on this plan.

Apparently so.
"DVD-quality streaming" is 480p whereas the old plan was 1080p.

I think you have a good argument since the advertising was false but of course they may not see it that way. I notice they have updated it now.
No dice...I was dealing with cs for over an hour.
I'm already switching back to Xfinity. 1 day was enough. 480p, and no hotspot anymore. I live in the middle of a big city (population 200kish) and have 1 bar of 3G in the house. .06upload,.06 download. Now I get the joy of re-porting my number back to Xfinity. (That shouldn't be an issue, right?)

Just thought I'd post my experience signing up for this deal...I called the Telesales number and the guy on the other end was very persistent about the insurance, no matter what he said, I said I didn't want it. He asked to leave it on just one line and I said no, he said "ok, I understand" and then hung up on me. Had to call back and have the next rep, who wasn't at all persistent, complete the setup... guess they get commission on the insurance! What a jerk! Wishing I got his name/ID but the rep who finished everything up said she would report him on my behalf.

Updated: Ported my number in asking for the BYOD freedom unlimited over the specified Telesales phone number - 1 week later, still on WRONG plan "15GB" for $75 / month, card got charged $85+

Called sprint 10+ times to adjust the plan, they have no idea what I am talking about. I am going to the BBB to shut it down and get a refund. LOL

Sprint is absolutely disgusting

I did everything online (and with chat specialist help). number ported from ATT in 5-10 minutes.
Only caveat is account shows promo expires on 4/30/2019. Confirmed with chat specialist that it will be 7/31/2019.

LTE download speed is 43mbps, upload 4mbps.

I will need to call in Sprint to activate mobile hot spot - not a big deal if i don' get it. Hot deal considering I had to but new iPhone 8 plus. Cost will be recuperated in 1 year.

Reps can say anything but what counts is what is in the computer. We have had several illustrations that many sales reps do not even know how to look up the actual end date. So you need to get it fixed in the computer. Now that you are on, you are past the Sales stage and you can chat with customer service rather than Telesales. I would do so and insist it be corrected. That is very odd though that it would be wrong and that far off. I assume you are sure that you just signed up for the first time? If this is a second line, it goes by the date for the first line.
