Updated: Ported my number in asking for the BYOD freedom unlimited over the specified Telesales phone number - 1 week later, still on WRONG plan "15GB" for $75 / month, card got charged $85+

Called sprint 10+ times to adjust the plan, they have no idea what I am talking about. I am going to the BBB to shut it down and get a refund. LOL

Sprint is absolutely disgusting
You see, "BYOD Freedom Unlimited" is the wrong name. "Unlimited Freedom" is the name of a paid plan. You should have called it One Year Free Plan. Despite what some people here posted, the TeleSales number is NOT dedicated to the Free plan, but handles paid plans as well.

But I will still blame Sprint because the names are two confusing and customer is always right and the rep. should have made sure they understood what you wanted and expected. So just persist and I agree with hodaddy you may have to contact marci on this one. You need to move on it right away so that you can cancel within the 2 week satisfaction guarantee period if need be. You have a lot of leverage within the two weeks and much less after that.

Or, if you want, you can just cancel it outright immediately, and ask for a refund.

Yes under
https://www.sprint.com/en/my-spri...-services/

"International calling from the United States
Allow my device to place international calls while in the United States"

Default appears to be to block international calls.
There are other settings to block international roaming etc. as well.

So, what are the post- 7/13 ramifications, then? 480p/500kbps video/audio, but what else?

Hotspot eliminated or drastically cut back in all probability to avoid being better than the new Unlimited Basic Paid plan (500 meg LTE). We need somebody to test and see if it is there at all anymore for new free plan signups on July 13 or later and if it is 4G or 3G.

It is no longer mentioned as a benefit so I am afraid it may have been dropped completely or may be 3G now.

They are not going to offer better benefits on the revised free plan than on the new paid plan.

These do not affect accounts set up before July 13.

Noooooooo
Thanks. Oh well, that's what I get for procrastinating in the renewal. I actually did port out one of my free lines, and tried to port back in with my mother's SSN, but she failed the wallet verification-- she forgot she owned two of the same vehicles in different model years. I wanted to chime in but the guy was already skeeved because I was doing speakerphone to speakerphone so she could talk to them since the need to talk to her caught me by surprise. So, I had to go out and make a friend and asked him to do it today with me. ARGH.

Some good news for everyone: the threshold for regular (non-hotspot) data use before de-prioritization has been increased from 23GB to 50GB for all unlimited users.

This applies to both old free plans and new free plans and to unlimited paid plans.

Quote :
Customers who choose unlimited data handset plans launched on or after October 16, 2015, or customers who choose to upgrade their handsets or activate new lines of service on or after October 16, 2015, and are on unlimited data plans, that use more than 50GB (23GB for Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile) of data during a single billing cycle (the QoS Threshold) will be de-prioritized for the remainder of that billing cycle as compared to other customers at times and places where the availability of network resources is constrained.

On the wiki, it listed ipad air and ipad mini as elligible devices. Anyone has success of using ipad air or ipad mini on this plan? I check both of my ipad and it retun ineligible.

That is obsolete (and was never true anyway).

Not one single person has ever posted that they were able to activate an iPad (or any tablet) on this plan for free. Obviously numerous people have tried and failed. The plan explicitly says "no tablets" now.

I am currently on the Virgin Mobile $1/year plan. I have a Sprint iphone 5s currently that is not supported on the free Sprint plan. I bought a Verizon iphone 5s that I can use on Sprint. Does anyone know if I should swap devices to the Verizon phone with Virgin first before I port out to Tmobile? I'm thinking if I swap first then I can just reuse the Virgin SIM card for Sprint, but I don't want to get the phone flagged by Sprint for using it on Virgin.

Thanks for any comments.

First, you can use the Sprint phone by calling in and being persistent. They just do not include Sprint models on the (partial) marketing list. But that's ok because you can have both phones on this plan if you want.

You do not need to swap (unless you have no other means of kicking the sim off Virgin but there are other means including just asking them to release it). You can always use any Sprint network sim on either Virgin or Sprint. And they are usually free at Apple stores anyway.

Having been on Virgin is not a problem as long as Virgin will clear it.

Just call Virgin before doing anything and ask them if they will release the phone for Sprint postpaid. Usually they will.

Reps can say anything but what counts is what is in the computer. We have had several illustrations that many sales reps do not even know how to look up the actual end date. So you need to get it fixed in the computer. Now that you are on, you are past the Sales stage and you can chat with customer service rather than Telesales. I would do so and insist it be corrected. That is very odd though that it would be wrong and that far off. I assume you are sure that you just signed up for the first time? If this is a second line, it goes by the date for the first line.
No this is first time I have opened account with Sprint. I had register for AA Advantage promo earlier in the month.
