You should be able to Port from Metro directly into Sprint no problem. You will need a compatible phone though. Must be Sprint approved CDMA phone. Read the wiki on top

Yeah I figured that much and I just ordered 1. Is there a somewhat cheap option to get a different number to Port to Sprint though? So I can keep my metro num/account and have a Sprint number?

For Apple users, Sprint sims are given free at most Apple stores. Using your own sim requires enrolling by phone, not online.

Getting an Essential phone from Prime day. I am trying to figure out what's the best way I can keep my current Sprint # that's associated with my father's account and use it for this deal. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I currently have a sprint line under my father. I just purchased an unlocked phone that can be used for this deal. I am looking to leave my father's account and create my own line using this deal, but I want to keep my current sprint phone number. If possible, how would I go about this.

Hopefully this makes a little more sense, thanks.

it does

so..ur father has a S account in which u have a line

first..read wiki

u want to create ur own new account.

how is ur credit?

the plan may be slightly different than in past
lowere video quality
may or may not get hotspot

my suggestion:
do not touch ur line on ur father account..yet..

get a GV number (preferable in a major city number)
pay $3 to make it portable.
create a new account with S in ur name.

reason for this is simply extra insurance
. some people may have issues creating a new account.
this is small price to pay $3 for a little piece of mind

use the essential imei and new GV number to port into ur newly established S account

if all goes well..and u have ur own account establisghed
.in 1 day..get a TM virtual sim..port out ur line on dads account (lets say u have samsung phone) ..into TM

once u port out ..the samsung phone will be free...
now on ur account swap the essential phone (w temp GV number) to the samsung phone.

now the essential phone is free.

use the essential again to port from TM your actual number u want to keep
