I have had T-mobile for the past 5 years and love it but this deal seemed like a good deal to try.
Worst. Mistake. Ever.
To keep it short, after 2 days I'm begging T-mobile to bring me back.Because my phone number is still active in both company's systems, its not so easy.
First, I need a mobile hotspot. Unfortunately, Sprint has been blocking it despite it being part of the offer on the website. Despite over 20 attempts via phone, chat, in-store contacts, they give me the run around and keep passing the buck to another department, telling me its not part of the offer etc.
Second, the lack of modern phone features like data/text simultaneously, visual voicemail, and spotty coverage are annoying
Third, the customer service teams are just not competent, especially the ones with strong accents.
Fourth, despite full LTE bars in some areas, I get almost no data at all. Other areas are fine, but i can't use my phone at work unless I'm on Wi-Fi.

I'd approach Sprint with caution. Not a happy customer here.

As a data point, what town or zip are you in? BTW, if you signed up after July 13th, hotspot was not included.

I realize the OP and the FP post state the opposite. I have PM'ed the FP mod asking if changes can be made. Sorry it didn't work out for you.

Anyone Swap a phone after signed up the plan?

I signed up this plan with Moto X pure, and then tried to swap Essential phone that I bought a couple days ago from Amazon. My old Sprint SIM cards do not working, cannot activate with them. If I buy a new SIM, can I swap the phone? I chat with Sprint CS, but keep forward me to another agent, then another. Seems like very picky plan.

What SIM card are you trying to activate with? Please see the wiki for obtaining the correct SIM card for your phone.

I insert an old Sprint(Boost Mobile) SIM card that I bought, but never activated. At the Sprint.com, an error message that says the SIM card is not compatible with my device came up. I ordered SIMOLW416Q at Twigby a minute ago. Let see I can swap the phone that way. Smilie

Nice. Sim should arrive in 3 or 4 days. You can then start the swap process through your account online dashboard and then it will finish with chat assistance. Easy peasy.

Right you always have to have the exact prescribed sim on Sprint for the particular phone and the activation is to the IMEI not to the ICCID. The GSM concept of moving a sim to move service does not apply.

But you can swap inside a minute once you have the right sim in the phone, and later switch back and forth without touching sims. Also Sprint sims never expire and can be reused in their matching phone models or across MVNO's etc. So there are pros and cons.

As noted by hodaddy, the hotpot is no longer part of the offer for new subscribers since July 13 when many plans were updated for new users. It was removed from the Sprint website. You will not get anywhere on that because the offer is what the current offer is. Unfortunately the original post in this thread is frozen in time and is not current.

On phone models that are sold by Sprint in their lineup, Visual Voicemail and Wifi Calling are included.
On most new high end Android phone models sold by Sprint, LTE calling beta is available also. I use it all the time on my S8 and it works well for me and allows simultaneous voice and data.

If you are using a phone that barely squeaks by in terms of full Sprint feature support (basically just supports the bands and nothing more), yes, you will lack most of these Sprint-specific features. Also Apple is waiting for full VoLTE before it supports LTE Calling on their phones.

Others have answered the SIM question for you. Just want to add that essential phone works great on Sprint if you get good coverage. Wi-Fi calling works as well.
Just to be sure to do the OTA updates for 8. 1

Sorry if this question has been asked before. I am using S6 Edge plus from T-Mobile. But have a spare Nexus 5x lying around with no SIM card in it. When I try to use the 5x IMEI with my current phone number it is saying I am not eligible. I thought all Nexus 5X models are eligible ? Do I have to have an active SIM on the phone when I request port ?

TIA
