Sorry if this question has been asked before. I am using S6 Edge plus from T-Mobile. But have a spare Nexus 5x lying around with no SIM card in it. When I try to use the 5x IMEI with my current phone number it is saying I am not eligible. I thought all Nexus 5X models are eligible ? Do I have to have an active SIM on the phone when I request port ?

TIA
International 5x model not eligible. If US model run the imei through the ting byod checker. If it passes for gsm and CDMA it will work on Sprint. My guess the phone was on sprint mvno and has a PLBL flag. This will need changed back to SPCS. Search thread for LiterallyUnlimited on reditt to message him and change flag. You will need correct sprint sim for 5x to port but 5x does not need to be active on T-Mobile.

Thanks for your quick response. Turns out it was international version I had bought from Ebay. All phone I have turns out to be non Sprint compatible S7 Edge T-Mobile and S6 Edge Plus T-Mobile and 5x International verison.... Hate to buy a new phone for this deal. My fear is if Sprint coverage in Boston suburbs (North West of Boston) is not as good as T-Mobile.

How can they claim hotspot is not included? No where does it say it's excluded. If you click on the Sprint.com/1yearfree page then click the big button 'get started' then scroll to the FAQs it clearly says 10gb hotspot included.

My data speeds are awful. Couldn't use data in Atlanta at or within 5 miles of the atl airport. Couldn't use it in Hershey PA. Full bars, data slower than 2G.
Chicago was very slow.

Oh you're right. That version of the FAQ was not updated. The video speeds are not cut back either in that version. They are now 480p not 1080p. Very sloppy. Well I agree it is false advertising although they will say it is just an oversight. What will be the remedy they offer you though? They will probably just offer a refund at first. By all means try to get what they have on that page if you can. It would he quite an effort though probably. Maybe if you keep escalating it they will give you the original deal.

I updated the steps to include the T mobile account details if it helps others. To your question, yes each phone line has its own pin for Tmobile pay as you go/prepaid.

1)First, have your Sprint account number and PIN ready.
2) Order the Tmobile prepaid/pay as you go SIM card from Amazon. Its around $8.95..Chose one day shipping and pay extra $5 to get it the next day.
3) You don't have to recharge/reload the SIM. Once receive the SIM, call Tmobile customer care and ask them to port your sprint number to Tmobile. Just give them your Sprint Acc. no, PIN , Phone number and T mobile SIM card number
4) Your number will be ported to T mobile in less than 5 minutes. Your Tmobile Account number will be your phone number prefixed by 1 Ex: 1 214-xxx-xxxx and the pin number will be the one that you setup initially during the porting or activation process.Note that for each line in Tmobile prepaid, it will be a separate account number i.e. the phone number of each line prefixed by 1 for that line. Again PIN number would be what you have set during number porting/activation for each line.
5) Wait for about an hour and Chat with Sprint Customer care and verify if your account is cancelled. Someone mentioned you can also check the status on sprint byod page with IMEI number.
6) Now call back sprint telesales number and port your Tmobile number to Sprint with a different SSN ( a family members)
7) After about 45 mins or so with all credit check etc done, you are good to go for another one year.
After step 7 do you wait to get a Sprint SIM card shipped to you?

Also if the phone was on Sprint before, just use the same sim. You do not need a new one.

in case someone got the t-mobile virtual sim from ebay, it is re-usable. I used the same sim 2x. Fist I bought it on ebay. Ported Sprint number to T-mobile. Ported back to Sprint under diff ssn. I have a kickstart plan no longer wanted so I used the same sim to port out again. I didn't want to call them to cancel it. It's easier and less hassle to cancel lines by porting.

I had already transferred a Google Voice number to Sprint a few days ago to create my account. Here is how I transferred two other numbers from Virgin Mobile to the free Sprint plan.

1.) Messaged Virgin Mobile to get my account numbers.
2.) Bought a digital SIM one ebay for 3.25
3.) Created an account online at TMobile. I picked the $3 paygo plan and it cost $5 after tax. This showed me my account number for TMobile as soon as I purchased.
4.) Called Sprint and asked to add a line. Went through the process and reused by Virgin Mobile SIM. Number was ported while I was on the 30 min. phone call.
5.) Tried to reuse the Tmobile digital SIM but it said I couldn't on Tmobile website so I bought another digital sim.
6.) Followed same steps as above to transfer number.

I see the FP mod for this deal has removed the hotspot references and has corrected the video and audio speeds.

Unfortunately the OP has been MIA since February, so no way to edit his post.

Message him on there. Emphasize the importance of having an up-to-date OP on this deal since nobody seems to be reading past it.
