If you don't care about porting your number, you can just buy a T-mobile number from eBay right? Like this one [ebay.com]

I read the wiki but all it mentions about is a T-mobile SIM to port your existing number. I don't care about that since my Google Voice number is all I need; I can redirect any random number to it.

I'm new to this so I don't want to hit any snags.
Yes you are correct. You can do that.

Using GV like you are may be suboptimal in my opinion because it will not be ideal with (coming soon) VoLTE, Wifi Calling, Magic Box and other Sprint voice features though. Sprint is not like an MVNO that might lose your number or go out of business. But that is up to you.

Yes of course. I wasn't going to ask them. I was just going to tell them I am activating the following Sprint phone....

there are a bunch of people reporting that the E5 was working too and I thought maybe E4 although I don't want to take the time to reread
Yes I put that in for others reading. People quote posts later regardless of to whom they were directed.

Well it will be interesting to see! I am just trying to avoid setting expectations too high.

E4 is widely known and thought of as a Prepaid phone though so will be hard to slip by. They are probably trained to spot it in my opinion.

We moved 4 lines to sprint and now all voice mails left show no caller ID, instead show own phone number. The only way to know who called is to *listen* to the voicemail. This is so primitive. Not sure what is wrong but this is on all 4 lines. Anyone else had this happen to them with Sprint? We had no issue with other providers

No. If it is a branded model, it has to have been unlocked by the branding carrier.

I guess that could have been the issue with the other poster. I thought of mentioning it but assumed he would be aware since it is stated on the Sprint page that all phones must be unlocked. I will add that note - thanks.

If someone wouldn't mind confirming this for me. I am looking to get my 11 year old son a phone. I am looking to do this plan. I can get an iPhone 5C(sprint). I see that it is not on the list, but VZW is? Can someone out there confirm that this is the case? FWIW, I do have a Sprint sim card.
Thanks!
We had a Sprint iPhone 5c and it does not work because that phone does not use the needed sim card. We now have a Verizon iPhone 5c on the free plan. The Verizon version is better because it is actually universally compatible with all of the networks. If we decide to move to another carrier, the Verizon iPhone 5c will not limit our network options.

Got my SIMs today. Any advantage to waiting until next month to activate? Don't want to get screwed with a partial month or anything. Not really sure how they calculate it.

I bought one for $3 a few days ago, but for an iPhone.
I got four sims (over a period of a few days) from my local Sprint CORPORATE store for free. I just explained that I wanted to take advantage of the free year plan and was directed to go to the store to get the sims.

I am glad you got the Verizon one working but that is incorrect about the Sprint 5C.

What the rep told you is nonsense.

There is no needed sim card for this offer. That is pure myth and misunderstanding on the part of a few ignorant sales reps in the Philippines who do not understand their own network.

Sprint sims required are just the ones normally required for any given model. There is never any variation in that. There are no special sim requirements with this offer that differ from the sims Sprint always requires for a given model. The Sprint rep who misinformed you was very confused.

If you still have the Sprint 5C, you can add it on to this plan with the original sim.

By the way all 5C's lack high speed band capability on Sprint and are therefore a very poor choice in general in my opinion except for voice only as a stopgap measure.

Current end of savings date for all new signups is 9/30/2019 so there is no advantage to waiting unless you wait to 9/30/2018 to try to judge then whether it will be open another two months or not, and that is risky because they could always close or restrict it at any time before then. Remember they just dropped the hotspot and cut back the video on 7/13 for new signups unexpectedly with no prior notice.

Daughter #1 signed up just over a year ago under her social security number for 1 year free Sprint BYOD deal that ends on July 31 of this year. My wife's phone is a second line on the same plan.

Daughter #2 was with Virgin Mobile for the past year. 5 days ago I purchased the SIM number on Ebay and ported Daughter #2 phone number from Virgin Mobile to T-Mobile per the Wiki and referenced post instructions. About an hour later Daughter #2 then ported her number to the one year free BYOD promotion with Sprint under her social security number and her credit check allows her to add up to 5 lines.

Can I now follow the same steps for Daughter #1 and wife?

(1) Port daughter #1 from Sprint to T-Mobile and an hour or so later port the same number back to Sprint on Daughter #2's account as an added line followed by

(2) Port wife from Sprint to T-Mobile and an hour or so later port the same number back to Sprint on Daughter #2's account as an added line?

Sprint should't request social security numbers for daughter #1 and wife when porting from T-mobile, correct?

Any issue with same names and phone numbers that were on a previous Sprint plan being added as extra lines on a new Sprint plan after having been ported out of Sprint less than 24 hours?
