Quick note to those porting in from Tmobile. Sprint rep asked if it was a prepaid or postpaid account. Since I had just ported to Tmobile and never used it, I said postpaid thinking that was safer. But if the account # is 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx (the number you are porting) then you should tell them prepaid o/w it won't work.
Correct. It probably should ultimately work *if* they let it through but the problem is that the reps are trying to pre-screen for obvious errors and stop them from getting entered, so they may tell you your pin is wrong.

They also may ask if it is an account pin or a line port pin and if you answer that wrong then the pin length guidelines will tell tell them to refuse it also. I have had that happen. If you really insist it is right they will usually let it go through anyway.

I cant find the post, but I think someone said when porting over to tmobile, you don't actually have to sign up for service? Can anyone elaborate? I thought I would have to at least pay for one month.
In our case we just activated the T-Mobile sim. We did not have a phone number to port so we got a new one. I told them we were still waiting to receive our device and the we just wanted the sim to be active and we would add funds to the account later. No fuss. No muss. No charge.

Ported the last three numbers from old sprint free account with promo set to expire to metro pcs and got four free phones for $140 (4 lines $100 plus $10 activation per line) and then ported two of them back to newly created sprint account. Took about an hour at metro pcs and another hour on the line with sprint. Most of the time spent with sprint was getting transferred to tech dept then porting dept to get the port completed.

Which phones did you pick from metro pcs?

So, what happens when your promotional rate ends on July 31st but your monthly bill overlaps it (ie. mid-month). Does the rate change right after the 31st or do you get that rate until the end of your current billing cycle / month?

Do not trust the T-Mobile digital SIM cards on eBay.

I was an existing sprint customer with the free 1 year plan about to expire and to get one more free year, I followed the steps provided in the community wiki of this post and purchased a digital T-Mobile SIM card on eBay and ported to T-Mobile. Next day, I called sprint and tried porting back to sprint. When I provided my T-Mobile account # and pin, they said the pin is wrong. I called T-Mobile and realized that my phone number was moved to someone else. It was HACKED. They fraudster even attempted to change my bank account password by using the forgot password option. Luckily I was able to stop his tricks by acting fast. After 2 long days of calls with T-Mobile I was able to get my number back and finally I am with Sprint for 1 more year of free service. But, I felt that this effort is not worth it. Beware you all.
You have any reason to think that or just guessing? I'm saying there's no way "they" should have known your bank account location / ID just from the TMobile SIM purchase or port-in. Besides which, "they" should not have been able to "hack" your number like you say without the pin you setup on TMobile. All indicating it had not a thing to do with the digital SIM itself or it's purchase.

A more likely culprit would be a computer trojan I'd think, with access to your incoming email. Unless... you gave TMobile your bank information for some reason? Something that should not have been needed going the digital SIM with prepaid method. If so, it would more likely mean the TMobile rep is the one involved, rather than any involvement by the SIM source.

Hmm... Second time this q was asked. More than likely the rate will change after the 31st. Re-up now with a new SSN. Details in wiki.

Don't pay anything. You need to wait and also call T-Mobile customer service to ask them for status.

My first port didn't go smooth. I almost add a minimum 10, but I wait and called customer service and it went ported successful ly.

Our free year is almost up 9/30. My brother and I both went through Sprint's credit check however the account is under my name. Will we be able to get another year using his SSN this time around?

As long as he has not had a Sprint account for the past 45 days

If you ported all numbers from your account, then it is closed. You need not do anything.
