As we have so often discussed, I did my best to make a convincing case to correct the list of eligible phones that is at the top of this thread. Hopefully this may be a good time since there is a correct list in a just-published SlickDeals article that can be easily copied over.

hodaddy has been working on this also and hopefully we can get get it done together. He has already got other major corrections made.

https://slickdeals.net/f/11953975-obsolete-list-of-eligible-phones-in-sprint-free-year-thread-causing-major-grief?p=118999731&newthread=success#post118999731

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hi,

The list of eligible phones at the very top of the extremely popular thread
https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req
has been obsolete for a long time.

Worst of all, at the time that list of eligible was originally copied off the Sprint site, the Sprint site briefly had a major error in it that listed iPads as included. They never were eligible and not one was ever activated under this deal but the SD list still shows them as eligible to this day.

These has led to many posts from users trying to activate iPads and a lot of enmity toward Sprint for refusing to activate them in view if what is at the top of this thread.

Fortunately there is a correct up to date list in a SlickDeals article just published: https://slickdeals.net/article/news/sprint-is-offering-a-free-year-of-unlimited-service-to-verizon-and-att-users/

Could you possibly copy the updated list in that article and paste it into the top of the deal thread at https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req , replacing the old obsolete and wrong list of eligible phones that is there.

We have discussed this on the thread and there is absolute unanimity that this would be of huge benefit. It is only a correction.

Thanks for your consideration! I will also post a link to this in the thread.

Regards

Very good! As you know (and you are an expert on this of course) you should be able to add the N3 via port in later. Usually they are easier on porting in a second phone. You might have to try a few times or worst case swap.

I am planning for hopefully a third year down the road myself.
I just wanna test to see if I can activate the Note 3 instead of swapping later with chat. Normally I activated with unlocked S8+, Nexus 6, Moto G4 then swap them out later with other Sprint phone.

If it is S6 Sprint you can get it on indirectly.
If it is other carrier it would have the wrong bands and could not possibly work.

I have never seen S6 on the lists (or even S7 in fact) but if you want old versions of the site you can get them from https://web.archive.org/web/*/htt...phone=byod

I think the page you saw must have been corrupted.
Thank you.. Yeah Its samsung Galaxy S6 SPRINT..

Ported out 50 days ago from the 1 year free plan. Bought T-mobile number on ebay yesterday for $5. Activated today and get another year of service. When the credit department was trying to verify my identity. He said since I had service with them before so he skip all the questions. This time took only 30 minutes for this process. On the side note, I was trying to activate with my Sprint note 3. The rep said its not eligible and asked me for another device. I had to give her my unlocked samsung S8+ imei.
Are you saying, you were able to get another year free by using your SSN by porting out and not being a customer for 50 days??

I just can ever go back to sprint. Even after getting screwed by att. Id rather pay my $600 a month for 10 lines then to deal with sprint.

minimum is 45 days. I waited a few extra days since I'm not in a rush.

I stay up to date on the thread and have searched but can't find these answers, so sorry to add to the massive thread count here. Daughter was on the plan for the past year using my SS. We want to take advantage of another year, but wife has a postpaid account on Sprint under her SS (we'll move her line over if we're successful getting the re-upped second year free plan). Since we don't have any more SS and have to be off one for 45 days before re-registering, I ported my daughter's number over to a Tmobile virtual SIM 3 weeks ago. She's not too old and can be without mobile service for 45 days (we ported out a couple months before the 9/18 end date to get it activated when school was back in and to hopefully beat a possible surprise end to the promotion). When porting to TMobile the CS agent wanted to set me up with an account but I told her I was waiting for the phone and would take care of it when that arrived. My questions are:

- How long will a number stay on the virtual SIM without it being used? Will the number remain active sitting there for 45 days? I started thinking about it this morning and thought maybe I'd better do the cheapest $3 pay as you go plan just to make sure we could keep the number, but when I tried to set up a TMobile account online it sent a text to the phone number to confirm the account (which I obviously can't see)

- Once the 45 days are up and we've ported back over my daughter's number from TMobile, I want to also port my wife's number to the plan but since she's currently on Sprint I'll need to port her number out first. Can I use the same virtual SIM that my daughter's number is currently on (but will be empty after we port her number in) or do I need to buy a new one?
u have been replied to but here is my 2c:

first:
a.do u have all information needed to port from TM back to S?

b. how important is daughter number? if not important jsut get a new GV number and start over again on ur SS ( i know not 45 days, but doesnt hurt to try)

now suggestions:

1. u can try to re sign using your own ss number and the TM #. i know it hasnt been 45 days, but there is at least 1 report of some one doing just that

given your circumstance, it doesnt hurt to try
i wound definitely call and explain to S that TM reception is not good ect.
my understanding is that during verification process, they need to contact credit dept (even if more than 45 days) and physically remove u as a customer...so if stars line up right, they may do that even b4 45 days...at least 1 poster has been successful in that

things that could have been different:
as soon as u had a free account on ur ss, port wife paid account there...like 11 months ago..then no issues now

i would make notes of all account numbers current and past ,,just to make sure u have all information as possible

for both S and TM

GL..report back progress...or hurdles..

It looks like mod corwin has already modified the FP deal by adding a link to the new article and mentioning the old list as expired and correctly added the new updated list.

Well done.

When they had the $15 unlimited plan I had a hell of a time with customer service trying to port from tello. It might have worked except the kid at best buy gave me the wrong Sim for my phone and then the deal expired. If you buy a Motorola at best buy check the Sim in the store

Were you going to use the same phone on Sprint that you were using on Tello? If so, you just could have used the same sim.

Upgrade eligibility after 120 days. You will see a big purple banner on mySprint app.
Problem currently is that there are no deals to be had for existing plan.
