Quote from Genghis_Khan :
from what i've read, since project fi uses the sprint network, you have to have fi tech support change your phone ownership from plbl to spcs.

"In Sprint's systems, a device has a "phone ownership" flag. If set to SPCS (Sprint PCS), it can usually activate with Sprint postpaid retail. If set to PLBL (private label), it can usually activate with any Sprint MVNO.
Any Sprint MVNO can normally switch a device from PLBL "back" to SPCS. Some do upon request, some seem to have no process for it. Sprint retail customer service usually has no clue how to do it. (They can, but it isn't something they normally are trained on or know to check for in my experience.)"...taken from reddit

I don't know the answer to your virgin mobile iphone 6 question. i'm sure others later can chime in.

Isn't ultra mobile a t-mobile mvno? if your MotoG5 is unlocked you should be able to use it with no problem.
Thanks a lot. You were correct about the ultramobile. It is coming eligible now! Probably I must have entered something wrong initially.
I will follow the steps you outlined with Project Fi.
Virgin mobile seems to a sprint MVNO. I guess I have to switch to another carrier and then try.

I have done it using tech support chat.

Just chat and request tech support to swap the two numbers.

You cannot do this particular swap on the DashBoard.
Thanks, I will request tech support via the chat.

That is not the right plan, as hodaddy notes.

The simplest way to fix that ruthlessly and definitively is

(1) port the number out immediately. This will stop the bleeding immediately. (I believe lou2004 suggested this originally and I have come around to his point of view)

(2) Call Account Services at 1-888-211-4727 (NO OTHER NUMBER) to take advantage of the 15 day money back guarantee and explain why you cancelled the line by porting it out and that you will port it back in to get the plan right

(3) Port it back in by calling TeleSales at 866-782-8777 (NO OTHER NUMBER) and make 100% sure it gets on the correct plan this time. Explain that the plan was set up wrong so you are porting it out and back in to correct that.

This way YOU take control of the timing and do all the necessary steps without depending on someone else to do them. Also all of these steps are perfectly reasonable and Sprint will be absolutely fine with them.

There are lots of other approaches but they can drag on forever. This one will fix it immediately!
Thank you, I called that number and fixed the plan.

Wonderful!
Account Services (which is not the same thing as Customer Service or Support or Billing) has the power to actually adjust plans on their own. No other department has that, so people get shuffled around. Other Departments are more inclined to investigate what went wrong as the first step, which is in their area, rather than just move forward right away, which they do not have the power to do themselves.

if you are moving multiple lines and have never tried sprint before i would do 1 line first and check to make sure everything is A OK with their service. or else you'll be back here bitchin' about the hustle you've gone thru switching just to find out their network is shitty for your use. otherwise...enjoy your 12 months free.

in the wiki...you just need the phone number and make a PIN. The phone number is your account.

Yes, just follow the wiki instructions but BE SURE to say you want the FREE 1 year byod plan. Don't be alarmed if they tell you the wrong ending date. The reps screw that up all the time...
Also, some reps are insistent on adding the phone insurance. If they don't take no for an answer, you can just call account services (number in wiki) or chat and have it removed. Do it same day or they will prorate and charge a bit every day the insurance is listed on your plan.
Thanks for the tips! I called this afternoon and got the BYOD 1-year free service activated. Took about 25 minutes. I was able to use my existing Sprint SIM, no need to buy a new one. Much better than the online sign-up process. I ported a GV number, waited 1 hour and nothing so I called the porting dept and they did it right away. Then the service activated. At first the online account management was throwing weird errors but when it finally synced after about 2 hours after activation I was able to remove the Protection Plan right there without calling. I'm all set through 9/30/2019! Applause

2. Can I cancel my line after the year is up? how do I cancel the line?
