Called Sprint.

1) talk to agent and they say they cant verify my credit as I am from VT and need to do some form.
2) transfer to someone, saying they cant port my freedompop phone to sprint because they dont have the coverage.

am i just done with the phone i just bought from boost mobile?
Boost would take it back if you move fast. Get a Boost RMA if you get close to the end of their x day return policy. (Check x - may be less than a week).

But don't give up just yet.

First, what do you mean "do some form?" Were they satisfied in the end since they started looking into the phone number?

As to the phone number situation, that could be either of two things:
(1) A very few FP numbers are not portable. If this is the case, just get one that is portable from FP, GV, or TMO Prepaid.
(2) You live in an area with no Sprint coverage, there is no point applying. Check the Sprint coverage map to see if that is true.

Getting back to the credit issue, you can also can the Sprint Credit Dept at 800-639-6116 direct to discuss. But I would save that for later after multiple direct tries.

Please post in more detail.

I received the phone on Monday and didnt act on it until now. it is 32 USD and I suppose I can use it as wifi enable device .

There is some problem with credit check for address in VT (or my address in VT?) I use my office address for all my credit cards.

they said my phone number CANNOT be ported due to service in Sprint and I need to talk to a sprint representative in person.

I am in Burlington VT, and there is a spring counter around here. there must be coverage.

I have another FP number to try that I just get now, will try that again tomorrow.

They ask for IMEI number.

the phone packaging has
SKU
MEID(HEX)
ICCID
MEID(DEC)

which one is right? I may have given them the wrong number?

Some numbers cannot be ported, that's all. Some are with obscure local carriers that have restrictions. If necessary, change the number to one that you know is on a well-known exchange. Or get a GV one.

As to using an office address, I do not believe you are supposed to do that anywhere. What does your driver's license have. You will have to look up your credit report to see what address they have for you. That would be a starting point. Maybe change some of the addresses to agree with each other. That is not really a Sprint issue.

MEID any version should work.

Use swappa to convert it to IMEI if you want.

The ICCID is the sim.

can anyone recommend an affordable, but decent phone that will qualify? and if you got it, where did you buy it?

Read back for the past few days to see some phones people are using, including some low-cost Boost models that come with important cautions as to activating them that we cannot go over from scratch for every poster.

That is illegal but what the heck.

See what your credit report has. Evidently Sprint sees a discrepancy of some kind.

If the area code and prefix of your number is an area with no sprint service, they will not allow that number in some cases. Is your numbers' area code and prefix from an area with sprint coverage.

I went through the phone sign-up process using an old Sprint SIM without any issues. My number port from google voice happened quickly as well. Unfortunately the SIM doesn't register on the network. After a couple of calls with 888-211-4727 and then with technical support - I'm told by the tech support engineer that I need to go to a store and get a new SIM card to complete activation/registration.
Since the wiki clearly called out against going to the store, Can someone help me figure out the next best course of action.

Started getting messages from Sprint--either use the Sprint Magic Box or return it or pay $140. If I remember correctly this will only help with Sprint data correct??? If my Wifi is working and phones work off of that the box won't be of any use to me correct?

So should I use it or return it--all of my phones are running off of my wifi when I'm at home. Now if it would help with my cell phone calling services or texts then it might be worth hooking up but my wifi in house is very adequate for my cell phones and probably better then this box?? My router seems to cover the 3400 sq' of house.

Get the PROPER sim for YOUR MODEL from anywhere. LOOK IT UP and get the exact part needed. It does not matter where you get it. Then put it in your phone and update your account using the DashBoard or Sprint chat.

The caution in the Wiki is about letting the store do anything. Selling a sim is an exception to that as long as it stops there. Just know the sim you want before you go in and just buy it, do not ask the store to install it.

Or buy the $9.99 universal Boost/Sprint/Virgin sim kit at Best Buy. Or if it is an iPhone get the sim from an Apple store etc.

What phone is it? Some SD'ers know more than some sprint techs unfortunately
