For every one saying their device isn't compatible; if you have a device that is on Verizon or CDMA hardware, att or t-mobile, there are different devices that have different hardware for supported carriers, an att or t-mobile are gsm and those devices will not work with sprint(CDMA). Verizon to sprint is hit and miss.

There are only a few devices that I'm aware of that support all carriers and those are far and few between. That's why they check the device reg numbers, even if your device is paid off your carrier may not have unlocked your device. Things to think about and check.

Feel free to correct if wrong.

just a heads up people..

i know..1000 lashes for me if i am wrong
That would be bad for me. I have only moved 2 of my 5 Sprint numbers over to the free plan. Question..I am waiting for them (Sprint) to unlock one of our phones that I just paid off the lease the other day. I requested an unlock but hasn't happened yet. If I were to Port the number out and then back in and try to activate that phone will it be denied even though it is my phone?

Sprint discontinued Virgin 'Inner Circle' $1/month iPhone plan, so it might be true that they might cancel free year also soon.

Also, What I read on Reddit Sprint subreddit was that it is renewed each month, so telesales and other employee will see that promotion ends at end of month (every month it happens, like it will show promotion ends 7/31/2018 but on 8/1/2018, it is renewed again and then shows end date 8/31/2018, etc.)

If you have a local Sprint store you may want to stop in and inquire. They are restructuring the network in preparation for VoLTE, but tower work is usually done over night. It's not because it's free. Speeds here in Chicagoland are generally good.
I went to sprint corporate store yesterday and tried explaining my problem to the store technical team, even shown the speedtest in one of the store phone where its doing 34 mbps DL (without wifi) in LTE whereas my phone can do only 0.56 mbps DL

They started blaming on my phone (i have iphone 6) which worked perfectly in AT&T till last week., so no clue

you said you did the factory reset? If not, try factory reset. not just network reset.

I got a call from a rep that there is a promotion for getting an ipad from sprint for $4.xx per month for 24 months ($10 shipping fee). he said it is not a lease and I get to own it after 24 months. I think it is a good deal but wanted to make sure if anyone else got this. any thoughts?
When they are calling you, it's usually a good deal for them so you better read the fine print.

do a factory reset without restoring backup. It should fix the issue.

You can try these but usually symptom of no LTE.
Since ATT was previously used maybe check #3 first.
Also Att iphone 6 A1549 lacks sprint band 41(LTE plus band).
1-Reset Subscriber Settings (Carrier Reset)
Go to dial pad as though you're about to dial a phone number
Enter # # 25327 #
Tap Call
A "Reset Subscriber Settings" message will appear - tap OK
Wait 5-10 seconds; the signal notification will display "Searching" on the top left of the screen
When the phone shows a signal again, the phone is ready to use

2-Service Update (Profile & PRL Update)
Connect to a Wi-Fi network
Tap the phone app
Dial # # 873283 #
Tap Call
"Starting Service Update" message will appear - tap OK
If update is successful "Service Update Complete" message will appear after about a minute - tap OK

3-Check for an old LTE APN profile and delete it.
The problem was due to a Profile named "LTE APN". (Settings>General>Profiles - Right below "VPN". There may not be "Profile" on the Menu, depending on the carrier used before.). Deleted this Profile, then LTE Data signal showed up! This Profile was probably from the previous carrier.

If you have Att iphone 6 model A1549, lacking sprint band 41 (as per edog11) it is not suitable for use on Sprint in my opinion. It will never give high-speed downloads.

I do not know what Sprint is thinking in allowing that model on. (Well, it does work fine if you happen to have great signals on the older bands).

The majority of Sprint data traffic is on band 41. It is Sprint's only high speed band. You also need it to use a Magic Box.

That said, of course try edog11's suggestions as they might help a lot!

As I am using my skype to call using wifi and also freedompop on my phone.
My call was dropped in a few of the calls that I made while I was in various stage of the application and freedompop has trouble picking up the call back (I got a voice message but i didnt activate voice message).

what is the best course of action? get some real phone number for a short term in order to apply?

I just spoke to Sprint about converting my number over from Verizon, and inquired as to how long a grace period I would have to convert my son's number over as well. The customer service rep told me that I can do so anytime within the 1 year of my signing up, regardless if the deal is still offered or not, but that the length of free service will be based on my original sign up date. So if I sign up today, on 8/31/18, and convert my son's phone over on 11/1/18, he will only have the free service until 8/30/19.

Hope this helps.
