Hi everyone. I am confused about a few things. I am a current Sprint customer who is getting ready to pay off my phones today. The account is under my hysbands name, so I was wondering if I could open a new account under my name to take advantage of this deal? Would I be able to keep my number. Thanks.

Yes. If you pay off your phones, temporarily transfer the lines to a non-Sprint carrier, and then port them back to Sprint under a new account with a different SSN, you can. Details in the wiki.

Yes, under your SSN and Name.

Yes, you would have to first get the correct SIM and then port your number out to some kind of AT&T or Verizon or TMobile based service. H2O, PureTalk, etc.

Yes. I've read the wiki. Here's my dilemma. I had the 1 year free for a year. Near the end I got a $15 Kickstart with another phone number. They put both numbers in the same my Sprint account. I ported out of 1 year free about 2 weeks prior to the end. Still had Kickstart. Sat out 45 days plus and now can't get I year free 2nd year because telesales says the kickstart acct preludes it. I don't want to give up $15 Kickstart as it's a hell of a deal. Tried going straight thru the website with a different email and buying a sim. All was well until the credit check. Message came thru that this plan was for new customers only. Not rejected for bad credit; just that offer was for new customers bringing their own phone only. Same social for everything.

Any thoughts or opinions?
That's normal. A current Sprint customer or anyone who was one within within the past 45 days, (going strictly by SSN only) is not eligible.

It would not matter whether kickstart had been added on the same account or a different one. SSN needing to be unique across all Sprint accounts is all that matters.

You will have to find a spouse or family member who is willing to open an account under their SSN to share with you.

T-Mobile port out/port in trick might be dead via the virtual sim method. Has anyone been successful in the last 24 hours. I did two lines on Thursday, but it sounds like their system has changed as they are now having weird issues activating my virtual sim. I've spent 3 30 minute calls and the last rep got to a point where she wanted me to add a balance to the account before activating.

Can anyone confirm this? TIA.
Update: I tried again and tried with another line and still experiencing problems. Could be my account, but i would highly suggest anyone looking to port out and back to do so ONE AT A TIME. I have purchased 4 virtual sims and was only able to use 2.

Not entirely correct. If you're just temporarily porting out, the temporary sim does not have to be compatible with the phone. You're just transferring the number out. The phone does not matter. When porting BACK to Sprint, you can use your original Sprint sim cards.

You can test your sim numbers on this site to tell if they are good or not.

Yes sims are good. That's not the issue. There is something wrong with T-Mobile's system.

OK. I get you. On a side note, H20 would not be good to temporarily port to. They require you to be on their service for a number of days before porting out. They also have the odd requirement of you having to know the numbers of the last five calls you made in order to port out or cancel.

So I could not use Boost Mobile? If not does anyone know which carrier will take my paid off Sprint phone? Also, after how many days can I transfer my phone back to Spring since I will be a new customer with a new SSN?

Boost is a Sprint-based carrier, so, no. You would not be able to port back to Sprint for the free deal. Like I said earlier, if you're just temporarily porting out to port back to Sprint, it does not matter if the phone is compatible with the temporary carrier or not. You're just porting the number. With T-Mobile, you can port your number to them under their pay-as-go plan. Once the port is complete (usually within a half hour or so, but could take longer), you can port back to Sprint under a new account and still be able to use your original Sprint sim cards. When porting to T-Mobile, you can tell them you just want the number ported over and that you don't have your T-Mobile compatible phone in-hand just yet.
