I am interested in this plan but my wife and I have the ATT versions of the IPhone 7. I read the wiki and I have come to the conclusion that there is no way to get this phone to work on this plan. If anyone knows a way, it would be much appreciated.
iPhones have no carrier branding so verify you have model A1778(gsm) and not A1660(cdma,gsm) before giving up since A1660 will work on Att and Sprint. Settings/general/about tap model.

I am happy to report back that 2 of my freedompop global SIMs was ported over 10 minutes ago. It seems that freedompop port in takes 24 hours.

I had a bad experience.. I was working with this phone rep for creating my account, etc. and then he suggested to get the sim from the sprint store. I went there and got it and even told the store rep that I am trying to sign up for the free year plan but he activated my line without my knowledge with the most expensive plan they have.

I have been talking to the phone rep since morning to switch the plan to the free year but they are making it a big deal saying that they have to talk to the store rep and do something else to switch the plan which won't happen for 7 days or so.

Beware of going to the store 👎

I would not put up with 7 days. The Free plan could be gone in 7 days.

I would forget dealing with the reps who made the mistake and are trying to cover it up, and instead call and ask for Account Services at 1-888-211-4727. Use the word "cancel" a lot. Tell them you want the paid plan cancelled right now. You have the right.

I think NOBODY should go the store UNLESS they are prepared to forbid the stores salespeople from helping set up the plan and stick to it.

But if I cancel, will I have to start over again about porting in etc.? Anyone had similar experience?

You want "Cancel and Replace."

Even if you did have to start over, it would still be better than leaving yourself at their mercy for an indefinite period of time, in my humble opinion.

Piles of people have gone through this and posted their experiences. Nobody yet has had to start over. The people who have run into this are not frequent posters generally and are not necessarily going to see your post right away. We know what their experiences were.

When you use the word "Cancel," you get more sophisticated Retentions reps. It doesn't mean you have to actually do it. You just threaten to do it.

But it is up to you.

Just ported in today and can report success.

I started the day with two lines on Cricket - an iPhone 5 and (verizon) iPhone 6. I bought a (verizon) iPhone 7 plus and planned to migrate my wife's 5 to the 6 and my 6 to the 7 plus, switching over to to Sprint immediately after. I can happily report that everything went smoothly.

I purchased two nano sims through Twigby which arrived in about 6 business days. I called the 8777 number armed with all of the information suggested by the wiki, all of which was requested.

Interesting thing I was immediately asked: what department am I from? The rep seemed kinda surprised that a random customer was calling this number. What's up with that?

Regardless, the whole process went smoothly and took about an hour. They verified that both iPhone models are eligible and the ICCIDs are solid, etc. The only difficulty that I was anticipating was easily handled by virtue of signing up over the phone - the credit check. I have had freezes at all three agencies since the Equifax shenanigans and only lifted the freeze on Equifax (since it was the only one that offered to do so for free). It turns out that they were checking Experian in my case. No problem, though. The rep three-way called their credit department and all they needed was my freeze pin for Experian and they verified my eligibility within a minute. So easy! Let me reiterate the importance of using the 8777 number instead of doing this online, as I would have surely run into issues had I done it online.

Everything else went as expected. Verifying Cricket account numbers multiple times, etc. I did get the hard sell for the TEP and had to decline it three times, but they ultimately did not add it. Activation took about 3 minutes after swapping sims, too.

I'll add my experience here regarding wifi calling: At first my primary phone (the Verizon iPhone 7 plus) engaged wifi calling with no issue. The secondary phone (the Verizon iPhone 6) kept giving me an error asking me to contact Sprint. I then did a hard reset of this and then it allowed wifi calling. No problems now. Both phones show up on my online sprint account as having wifi calling option at $0/mo.

I did a speed test on LTE and was kinda surprised to see only about 2mbps down, .02mbps up. Any advice?

Thanks for all the great info in this thread.

what is the option for using numberbarn? if i port my wifes number then what would numberbarn do? numberbarn allows me to buy a number to use on sprint but my wife wants to keep her number therefore i have to port it from my dad's sprint account, to my friend's tmobile (and now wait for the sim card in the mail) then call sprint and port her number to her own new account.
