Then I'm even less worried about it, thanks for the info.
Sprint doesn't prorate the final month, not sure what that guy was talking about. Sprint bills in advance, so you have until the end of your current bill cycle before being charged $60. Once your new bill cycle starts you will be charged $60 and owe $60 no matter if you cancel on day 1 or day 30 of bill cycle. If the tello port delay causes you to go into next bill cycle , you should have a case to get final month waived.
When does your current bill cycle end?

Any progress?

We gave you two different methods top fix it - did you try them?

You don't have to, though.

You were just getting NO for an answer from ignorant low-level sales staff who were blowing you off with a nonsense "not eligible" response which is completely false. Of course the phone is (really) eligible.

Sprint understands EXACTLY what the problem is and it is able to easily fix it in a minute. It is just that early on, phones of this model that were turned on before activation set up an incorrect entry in the database which has to be removed. This can be fixed via the tricks we mentioned but that is not your problem unless you want to get into that. Just request they escalate it when you call. Or if you just cannot do that, ask for help on reddit to get a sympathetic employee who will escalate it for you.
The Sprint BYOD, Swappa, Ting and Tello IMEI checkers were all wrong. The seller deactivated the phone from his account and I chatted twice with Sprint to confirm that's correct but IMEI checker still shows activated, financed and ineligible.

I couldn't do it online so called the number listed and just say I want to sign-up for Sprint and give the IMEI number. Didn't tell her the back story, IMEI checker, dual SIMs and she say the phone is good. The iPhone is Sprint model so came with a SIM installed and she just read the SIM number off the phone.

The thing is, the 1st called I made was handled by someone oversea and the call dropped 3 minutes in. The 2nd rep I talked to was in the US (as I can hear her coworkers) and feel a lot more competent. Maybe they put retention or other units on the phone as well and if you got lucky you got an American that knows exactly how to process this.

did you use the phone got from t-mobile?
No. I bought a paid-off Sprint model from Swappa. It comes with the new SIM Xs needs to work on Sprint already installed. Shouldn't matter much the phone is locked to Sprint as it is paid-off so I can request unlock after being on this plan for 50 days.

So you got it on I take it. Great!

Yes the TeleSales unit in the Philippines is somewhat out of control and under supervised and trained in my opinion. The U.S. staff is just more senior, better paid, etc. Sprint could get that level of service in the Philippines too, they just do not want to pay for it.

I would DEFINITELY chat with Sprint tonight to get written proof you contacted them (the transcript). Then talk to them tomorrow and use it to try to minimize charges, since Sprint caused an additional delay.

good idea, thanks, chatting with them now

Your bill on 9/25 includes charges for service from 9/25 to 10/24. Based on limited data on this thread you shouldn't be charged any additional charges then what is listed on 9/25 bill($3-5?) as long as port completes before 10/24.

Sprint chat claims it will be prorated but they conveniently didn't send me the chat transcript even though I requested it.

That would be YMMV, but the full price $60 wouldn't be billed until 10/25 so you should be good.
How do I terminate services? If you are thinking about cancelling your Service with Sprint, please call us or visit a Sprint store so that we can try to change your mind! If we are unable to change your mind, you can terminate Services by calling us and requesting that we deactivate all Services, or by porting your number to another carrier. You are responsible for all charges billed or incurred prior to deactivating your Service. If Services are terminated before the end of your invoicing cycle, we won't prorate charges to the date of termination and you won't receive a credit or refund for any unused Services.

Anyone have internet problem?

I verified my iphone 7 plus is compatible, and switched over to Sprints BYOD 1 year free. I used Tello (Sprint's) in the past and had no issues 4g or LTE...

However, I've been ported into Sprint for 3 hours now and still stuck on 3G. I tried on/off cellular, restarting, and carrier reset but it is still not working...

----

NVM... this fixed after I downloaded their mobile app lol. So weird....

Ohh I have another idea too.

Sprint has a 15-day money back satisfaction guarantee. (It would be 30 days if you were a brand new customer).

You should be able to call Account Services tomorrow 1-888-211-4727 and cancel the paid plan retroactively even if it has started!

Note you must speak to Account Services and only by phone, and NOT another department.

Does anyone know if or when the Apple iPhone XS would be available? My wife just bought one new and unlocked from Apple and is currently on T-mobile, but her device isn't eligible. Has anyone had any luck with the Apple iPhone X (non-Verizon) on the 1 year free BYOD?

Thanks!

Sure all sorts of people have posted - it is eligible. Ignore the checkers (which are having problems) and just call and sign up. Do NOT do it online. First you will have to get sim ending in (for Xs) 516TQ or 416TQ from an Apple store or a Sprint store etc.

This assumes it is Xs not X but unlocked X would be eligible too with a different sim.
