Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Do they add devices as they release? Like the Nokia 7.1 coming out in a couple weeks. It's $349, unlocked. Works on Sprint and T-Mobile.
I don't think the 7.1 will have Sprint support.

VoLTE is on a phased soft rollout stretching into 2019, Only a few devices have it now. Others should get it sooner or later if the model is supported by Sprint.

I've read all these derogatory reviews of Sprint Customer Service and how hard it was/is to sign up for this deal. My experience with them could not have been better.

What had gone before.
I had decided to to port a landline to T-Mobile pay as you go for a month to test their coverage. We have Verizon and AT&T in our house, and to make a long story short, Verizon was the best and T-Mobile was the worst. But, to be fair, T-Mobile wifi-calling was very good. However, T-Mobile has the worst customer service I have ever experienced. After setting up T-Mobile plan at a store they charged me twice for a sim card, and then T-Mobile lost my prepaid minutes that I had paid for. After waiting endlessly on T-Mobile customer line to get this resolved, I then later discovered I was unable to set up an online account and that I had lost my prepaid minutes again. Because I was so angry I opted for more abuse, called again and they finally told me that they were changing their systems and everything should be working in 3-5 business days. What was obvious to me is that T-Mobile is woefully understaffed, and if you look at the phone the wrong way, it's going to eat your prepaid minutes.

Sprint BYOD.
So, I decided that I had had it and it couldn't possibly be any worse with Sprint. Studied the Wiki here and got a pant load of sims from Sprint Stores. Friendly people in the stores, but not a lot of customers there. So I called the Telesales number and it could have been Philippines, could have been Florida. Don't know and don't care. I told the CSR (George) what I wanted and he verified the phone, number and sim, did the credit check, and no issues. No activation fee and no insurance. Then he asked me to stay on the line while the port was being done and I said sure, great. Port status showed a problem, and he asked me to stay on the line while he contacted the Sprint port specialist. 3-way call now with CSR George, port specialist, and me. Port guy said don't worry and called T-Mobile. I'd say 5 minutes or so, port guy gets a call from T-Mobile and my account number was wrong so port guy re-entered and re-submitted port and said to wait 30 minutes. So, then it's just CSR George and me, and George says he'll call me in 30 minutes. I said great. He calls in 30 minutes and says port hasn't gone through, but will call in another hour. After an hour, George calls and says port has gone through and then George has me test the phone, make a call, message, use wifi and then all is good. Sprint reception about the same as T-Mobile in my house but no wifi because of my phone. But maybe 300 yards from my house excellent.

Just got my first bill, $4.09/month for unlimited plan.

What more can I expect???
You can expect more of the same. In addition you will soon be able to take advantage of occasional phone deals. After 120 days you will see a big purple banner "eligible to upgrade" in the mysprint app.
Experience you just outlined is the norm, not the exception.
Happy Trails

I signed up with the BYOD, my device was fully compatible but my device keeps saying "Invalid Simcard" even though I'm using the one suggested (SIMOLW416Q) for my phone (Samsung S8+ T-mobile version). I used the t-mobile Device Unlock app to unlock permanently, also called T-mobile and they assured me it was unlocked. My device still doesn't make any calls, texts or data. I've been multiple times at sprint and T-mobile stores and they both blame each other. I'm very frustrated.

Phone works great with T-mobile sim cards only, I already tried other AT&T cards and sprint sim cards and they all say invalid simcard "Network locked simcard inserted".

I also tried to enter Spring APN settings manually and they don't even get saved, I reset the phone like 3 times trying different things but no progress.

Any other ideas?

Agreed. Those symptoms indicate the phone's update level is out of date. Brand switching capability was added via an update after release of the phone.

You can do it over the air or by using Samsung Smart Switch on a PC connected to the phone.

A number of people here have run into that and fixed it as above.

So my Sprint free plan got over and I moved my numbers out to MetroPCS for iPhones.
Sprint rentension called me to convince me to come back to Sprint by offering $600 service credits for bringing back 2 lines. What's the offer everyone else is getting?

The other possibility is that is not really unlocked.
Look at System Updates/ UICC Unlock on the phone.
Mine says "Your device is unlocked for any sim card"

There are no updates on the phone or using the USB with the Smart Switch (PC software shows no update available).
Phone says it is unlocked, software is up to date, I didn't find any option on my S8+ to see the UICC message, I believe samsung hides it.

I'm losing my hair rapidly. I may need to just buy an unlocked phone, which defeats the purpose of saving money by using this promotion...

No it should show like mine WHEN UNLOCKED. Obviously yours is NOT unlocked probably because you have not enabled the UNLOCK on the device.

The branded version has more features and is VASTLY superior to the unbranded version re VoLTE etc. being released in a timely manner. A branded version of S8 or S8+ that has been unlocked is far better than the unbranded version. I think many people do not understand this. Calling plus, now VoLTE, Visual Voicemail etc. are all inferior on the unbranded version. This applies even if the branded version was originally a TMO or Vzw or AT&T version. These all operate better on Sprint (or anywhere else) than the unbranded version.

What about your screen shot that says to run the app? You have to ENABLE the unlock on the device. TMo cannot see whether you have done that so their status is not meaningful. I think TMo should have sent you instructions. Others here know. I cannot remember. Wait for other posts. Or call TMo for instructions on how to enable the unlock on the S8+ device after they have authorized it.

This has nothing to do with Sprint.

By the way I unlocked my S8+ a year ago no problem on Sprint but I cannot remember exactly what steps were required. There was some step required on the device.

Or "New TMobile" (a name for the merged company) soon, after the merger, assuming it goes through.

You can look at this offer as an almost-free Call Option on "new TMobile" if you want.

I plan on taking a Retention offer from this plan (or SWAC offer) before the merger goes through, to lock in a long-term plan at low cost.

After it is approved will be too late for the lowest cost way in, because the attractive offers will quickly fade then. Prices on new offers will quickly rise to current TMobile levels and possibly higher.

Of course the merger could fail through but then you just bail. (Or stay if you find that Sprint is "good enough" for your actual needs, which it is for many people depending on their usage pattern).
