Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

You just paid a ridiculously high price (over priced) for a phone and you're trying to cheap out on the service to use it?

Why don't you go get the best, (most expensive?) service you can find?

Something is wrong with this picture IMO....
Why is that your business? If you have no way to help the poster get his new phone on the Sprint plan maybe you should not reply.

They charge you insurance as well but you can remove it later.

You CAN decline it, but you will probably have to say NO more than once to the phone rep. The outside reps that Sprint uses are aggressive and definitely on some kind of commission or quota system. Minor gripe overall.

Or "New TMobile" (a name for the merged company) soon, after the merger, assuming it goes through.

You can look at this offer as an almost-free Call Option on "new TMobile" if you want.

Of course the merger could fail through but then you just bail. (Or stay if you find that Sprint is "good enough" for your actual needs, which it is for many people depending on their usage pattern).
A "New T-Mobile" will never happen...but Sprint is dead for sure

There are no updates on the phone or using the USB with the Smart Switch (PC software shows no update available).
Phone says it is unlocked, software is up to date, I didn't find any option on my S8+ to see the UICC message, I believe samsung hides it.

I'm losing my hair rapidly. I may need to just buy an unlocked phone, which defeats the purpose of saving money by using this promotion...
Did you buy the phone directly from Samsung? If so, read this: https://support.t-mobile.com/thread/141003

I was charged $30 activation fee for two lines, a month after activation. Is it normal? I don't see this fee listed anywhere at descriptions page here on SD

Per sprint: Your $30 activation fee is waived as part of this promotion. The fee will appear on your first bill and a credit will appear within 2 bills.

However, you can verify through chat and maybe ask them to remove it now. Pretend you didn't read the above. Just ask why and that the website says no activation fees

I am planning to get another free yr of service using my ssn after 45-50 days. Did everyone get the bill with $0 after they cancelled the lines? Or do u have to cancel the acct? Please help.

Anyone know how to get my Verizon Note 9 work with Sprint BYOD? This was purchased directly from Samsung, no EIP. Technically the phone is unlocked but sprint website doesn't like the IMEI.

If the eligibility checker doesn't like your phone, you need call in to see any luck to get it whitelisted..
it might be your phone is too new to be on the database

I would never rely on Sprint as my actual carrier, but I wouldn't mind getting this for my jogging music player or "house" phone (essentially a backup).

If I don't already have a phone to bring over to Sprint, though, what's the cheapest non-used option? I'm sure that gone are the days of picking up a pre-paid phone from another carrier and using it for this deal, so what's the cheapest unlocked, new phone that can be readily obtained and used for this deal?

"Unlocked" yes, but not compatible with Sprint as would be the the Unlocked model, which is a different animal.
Samsung has not released brand switching for S9 or Note 9 as it has for S8 and Note 8. You cannot activate it until they do and at that point Sprint will add it to its database.. I doubt it has Sprint's voice bands as is.

If you had bought the Unlocked model from Samsung you would be ok.

Call in though in case there is anything new.
